You should seriously just stop typing.

Unless it has a poison pill. In which case I have a feeling Jerry would more than get even.
stasheroo;2721137 said:Yeah, we could get the next Robert Meachem...
For every good receiver drafted, there are at least two busts.
That ratio doubles when you factor in that it's the Cowboys doing the drafting.
They draft receivers almost as well as they do offensive linemen.
sonnyboy;2721102 said:Each year pro football teams do just that. The "give away"/exercise high draft picks on College players based ENTIRELY on potential.

Should I go on and these aren't even 1st rd guys.. We can do this all day.
Aven8;2721153 said:What????? Are you nuts? We've invested three years of grooming this kid....it's not about getting a second for a UDFA. Hell, you could say let's trade Romo for a 7th...since he wasn't drafted! That's a good deal.
WR's usually take about three years to get going anyway...just like LB's. Now you wanna throw all that away for the 52nd pick? Crazy!
TheSport78;2721150 said:You know it's funny you say that.
Robert Meachem 2008 statistics:
12 receptions, 289 yards and 3 TD's; 1 rushing TD
Miles Austin 2008 statistics:
13 receptions, 278 yards and 3 TD's, 0 rushing TD's
Looks eerily similar to me...

You can't be serious here.
I'm not saying I believe or know that Miles is worth a 2nd rd pick.
But I'm sure you don't think the Cowboys and Jets have a better understanding of Miles' ability, potential and "value" than any college player coming out this year.
3 yr guy. 3 training camps, 3 preseasons going against NFL talent.
This has nothing to do with Miles' ability. It has everything to do with the contract the Jets are going to give him to secure that ability.
That's the question Jerry has to answer. Is matching the deal worth it!
stasheroo;2721164 said:If Meachem was injured for multiple games and playing behind Terrell Owens and Roy Williams you might have smoething.
TheSport78;2721161 said:I'm talking about based on production. He hasn't shown he can be a reliable #2 WR. Yes, he has great speed and has the measurables, but to say that Austin shouldn't be moved because of the "grooming" we did is nuts.

I do agree that this is all about the contract the Jets offer Austin; or if they even offer him a contract.
btcutter;2721130 said:Actually it made plenty of sense. The guy asked you what has Miles done in the Nfl or in college. Your response was ""That's more than I can say for a 2nd round pick from college who has NEVER played a down in NFL...against elite competition".Goldenrichards83;2721111 said:huh? Stanback hasn't done anything against ANYBODY and no one is planning on giving up a 2nd rounder for him either. Your comment made no sense here.
Using the same ridiculous argument Stanback has also faced elite competition and Austin has about 10 more catches then he had last season. In other words kill the elite competition argument. Miles has never faced a #1 corner on the other side. I doubt he face a #2 so the elite comp argument makes no sense. Get it.
We take iglesias iin the 3rd or Derrick Williams both who are faster than Miles with the added benefit of a PR. And robiske ran a 4.47 at the combine, thats not slow and very impresive for his size.Aven8;2721167 said:Ok...let's say we do.....who you gonna take? Who's your 2nd now? Hurd? Crayton? Will be the slowest offense in the NFL with the exception of Felix. Harvin won't be there and is real injury prone, Robiske is going to be good IMO, but slow. I mean who ya gonna get???? Keep Miles.
