DMN - Sources: Dallas Cowboys often tardy, undisciplined in '08

The hold up is you start cutting players for accountablility and you essentially start purging your roster. The fact is, while Owens does not affect your dollars under the cap, you still have chunks of money on the cap that is being spent for a player that is not on the roster. And then you have to replace him, sign free agents, keep your own guys from leaving, and sign draft picks . . . And don't forget DeMarcus Ware is getting ready to become the 100 million dollar man. Add to that no first or third round draft picks, and you can put yourself in a hole removing players from this existing roster.

Sounds like a rebuild to me. And do you want Wade Phillips as the guy to coach you through a rebuild? That's what I thought.

When you start cutting like that, you are basically roster purging and starting over. And I don't think Jerry's ego (or a lot of fans for that matter) can go through a start over. Heck, Parcells is 2 years removed from building this team.

Jerry wil try to make this roster work as for one more year, and he makes everyone re-dedicate themself (or in his terms he takes them out to the woodshed). If there is no improvement after next season, you will see the purge. That way he can get the right coach to rebuild and the cap hits won't be as bad.

NO I believe a number of players can be cut and should be. And guys like roy williams will add cap space.

Removing people is the fastest way to get the players attention.

And we do have a 3rd round pick, just not a 1.

It will not happen under Jerry Jones. Yea he can cut a guy like Pacman or Tank Johnson. Why??? Because they have no salary cap ramifications. Jerry is a bigger businessman than he is football guy. If its going to cost Jerry money than he isn't going to do it.

I just heard on The Herd that Werder is reporting that team flights were consistently delayed by Jerry, not players.

LOL...

And I can't believe people think that an 860k cap hit means we "can't" cut TO.

JJT was on with laufenberg the sunday after the loss to philly. Himself and Todd Archer said that the meeting on the 23rd before the philly game, everyone is in the room waiting for guess who.

Wade phillips as jjt said, announced that owens was late and that they would wait for him and according to archer and jjt they said it was over an hour, owens claimed he had traffic problems.

Pretty funny. I love reading how the ignorant owens people are spinning it.

Its too funny.

The guy is a disaster and so is the head coach and they both have no business being part of this organization still.

This thread is like 4 pages deep and I don't see much from the 'T.O. Fan Club' lol.

If he's looking at it as a business man, it costs him $ to keep TO, for example. Like $6M each. The only thing it costs him to ditch TO is a little cap room.

Brad was busted spilling the beans off the air (or so he believed).

Can someone fill me in on this? I missed it. What did Sham say?

Cutting T.O. would also keep him from making the headlines in the media. Jerry needs to sell tickets for his new stadium and sell the Cowboys brand.

On the DC.com podcast of the hour-long show on 760 am in San Antonio, Brad and Larry were saying what a problem TO was. Brad said that TO was a great athlete but lousy at his craft of being a wide receiver due to sloppy routes, poor technique, etc.

It was during a commercial break when their mikes were still open.

We were very high on Crabtree from what I heard, that was until we signed Roy Wi11iams to the dumbest deal in the history of sports.

Its not the money, its the ego.

Cutting TO a year after giving him a huge extension is a massive mea culpa he just can't swallow. Probably why Wade is still here too, because Jerry spent so much time during the 13-3 year talking about how much better things were without Parcells.

Plus I think Jerry truly doesn't believe there is all that much wrong with this team or like the TO Fan club that Owens is really a distraction. This clubhouse is going exactly where it was in the Switzer years because to Jerry that is a normal clubhouse.

Bill Parcells should've stayed 3 more years, we'd still be playing right now.

I'd love to hear his thoughts on all this.

He'd laugh and probably say this is exactly the kind of nonsense that made him leave.

Sure Sham might not have let that slip intentionally? He's about as legit as they come, and he knows what power his voice has.

I am even more amazed that Jerry Jones thinks we are stupid enough to believe that Owens' status is tied in to our ability to sign Demarcus Ware.

These are the players who sent Bill Parcells into retirement. Remember that. Some guys may love the game as much, but nobody loves football more than the Tuna. He risked his heart to come back to football. He kissed his marriage goodbye for his true love on the sideline.

And these turkeys broke him. And they were happy when he left. -Vela

Can we start to make a list of the guys that drove him absolutely insane?

We can call them the Eggshell Brigade.

Jerry Jones, Julius Jones, Terrell Owens and Marcus Spears for starters.

He might need to watch himself. Didn't Jerry Jones fire him once before?

Winning more does not make these issues meaningless. It just makes them less of a priority to enforce. That is the difference.

No, it wasn't intentional. They were talking back and forth about different things during every break. You could even hear the commercials in the background.

And Alex, I don't know what to make of that comment from Jerry that cutting TO would mean losing Ware. Either he was flatly lying, or he is now so far out of the loop with Stephen handling the cap and contracts that he truly didn't know what he was talking about.

Or he is doing what he has done in the past, which is insult our intelligence.
