Do you think the Dallas Cowboys could beat Jacksonville Jaguars?

We don't see many Jaguars fans on this forum, so as a current resident of Florida, I'll be the surrogate Jags fan for this thread.

.....Jags mind hat goes on.........

You bandwagon Cowboys fans just don't get it. The Jags had the #6 defense in the NFL last season and managed a playoff spot (can you Cowboys fans spell p..l..a..y..o..f..f..s, I didn't think so) in an AFC that has been clearly superior to ther NFC for years now! After reading the eyewash in this thread I can see that you folks need some schoolin'...let's get to it...

Yeah any team would have had the #6 defense in the NFL last season if their last 9 games were the Texans, Ravens, Titans, Cardinals, Browns, Colts, 49ers, Texans, and Titans. Any mid-tier team would have managed a playoff spot with that schedule. All you'd have to do is go 3-4 in your 1st 7 games and that's basically 11 wins right there.

Some of you folks say the Jags had a soft schedule...let's see

We played the Seahawks..and won...how did the Cowboys do?

You played the Seahawks AT HOME. Seahawks are such a bad road team. They pull off all their miracle bull**** at home. Anyone who watched 'hawks vs cowboys and giants should know. They basically get DOMINATED the first 90% of the game (MVP Alexander was SHUT DOWN) then some amazing garbage happens at the end to allow them to get a win (missed sub-30 yarder that would have put the game out of reach, 2 50+ yarders + random stupid interception, 3 missed FGs by a kicker who basically was automatic every game before that? ***?) If it was still last season, all that matters is the W, but now that we're looking into the future here, both the Cowboys and the Giants are clearly superior teams to the hawks in my mind. Hawks are another team in addition to the Jaguars that are in for a huge letdown season imo.

Now our offense was not quite as good stats wise as the Cowboys...but of course we lost our starting QB for part of the season. Now, he was still able to come up with a higher QB rating than Deadslow...er Bledsoe, but Leftwich is still a kid who has improved every year and we expect him to do better still this season. Our top draft picks this year were at TE and RB and we expect both guys (UCLA boys) to make an immediate impact on our offense. Some of the pundits said the Jags made the most out of the fewest picks of any team in the draft this year.

I see the votes in this poll are lopsided for the Cowboys...but what should I expect on this board so full of homers it makes me sick? How could I expect any fairness and recognition of our superior team here? Why do I bother? I'm outta here.

.....Jags mind hat comes off......

Bledsoe was like top 3 in the NFL in QB rating until the OL disaster struck. Leftwich gets his rating boosted thanks to nearly half his games being against bottom tier teams. Would have been way over half if he didn't miss those last 6 games. Not really a good comparison. Leftwich is ok, but his supporting cast isn't anything special. Cowboys have a great supporting cast, so that someone like Bledsoe can perform (of course, until all those injuries hit, but injuries **** over any team anyway...except the patriots...)

Sorry, I'm still disgusted that the Jaguars managed to get into the playoffs last season in addition to their great seed that they just didn't deserve. I knew whoever they faced in the playoffs would just steamroll their *** because they didn't deserve to be there. ESPECIALLY over a Chargers team that fought so hard and went through so much adversity just to be denied a playoff spot thanks to the schedule makers. Not the Jags fault I know but Jags are hella overrated and they've been getting tons of praise they simply do not deserve thanks to their record last year. This year their schedule is BRUTAL from the looks of things. Injuries and other letdowns can always screw that up and whatnot but to me there is no way in hell the Jags come close to 12-4 this year, and they won't be representing the AFC in the playoffs.

I completely agree....those Jags fans are totally clueless!;)

Under Parcells, winning on the road in a big spot vs. a tough opponent who plays well at home is very possible now.

This has been proven already, and the win over San Diego last year in the opener was a very big step for this team.

That was a 12-4 playoff team.

This is a 12-4 playoff team.

2 years in a row, 2 road openers vs. 12-4 playoff teams.

And Skins fans complain about the schedule?

Please.

This is a very winnable game as long as they control the ball and dont get behind early.

Cowboys win 100-3
Plus, Julius Jones will run for 300 yards; Owens will have over 200 yards receiving; and Bledsoe will average about 15 pats before each passing attempt.

Wow, we do have the best offensive line in the league!

Not to mention the fact that, save last season, we don't tend to fair well in road openers
HH, you tend to spout off at times like you're some kind of authority on subjects. This is one of those times.

The Dallas Cowboys are the most successful team in NFL for opening games of the season.

Yes, because the 1977 Dallas Cowboys beating Minnesota on the road opening day means so much in regards to this Cowboys team

2004: Loss
2002: Loss (to the Texans, no less)

As far as overall opening days lately:

2003: Loss
2001: loss
2000: loss

1-5 the last 6 years in openers. Forgive me for not getting my opening day hopes up.

Comon' Hos. Why do you have to bring in something as trivial as the truth into an discussion? HH is probably just now able to sit down without pain.

Again, unless we are planning on bringing the triplets back for one last go around, I dont think Dallas distant history has any relevance towards the teams of the last few years.

Don't bring that weak crap in here.

Since 1960 (Our launch) we have opened on the road 25 times. (Don't forget you said on the road.)

Our record is 18-7. (Do yourself a favor and don't call me a liar on this.)

That is a 72% winning percentage HH. By far the best in NFL History.

Uh, your next response should be "thank you sir, may I have another?"

No spin control HH. For a change, accept your medicine.

And here comes the spin control.

The question is will he push the envelope?

Again, Roger Staubach and Emmitt Smith are no longer relevant to this organization's on the field play, and neither are their opening day records. Your arguement is akin to me saying that because Dallas was winningest team in the NFL in the 1990s, we are the best team in the NFL right now. Just silly.

The only spin here is you claiming Dallas opening day records from the 1970s have any relevance towards this years team.

I begged you not to keep going on the 30 yard slant.

I begged you not to try me on this one.

You should take my advice sometime.

Using your own logic of recent past means more than entire History I will simply say this...

September 11, 2005, Dallas opened on the road in San Diego. This is more recent History than anythign you can bring up.

Final score...

Dallas 28, San Diego 24.

Right after I first addressed this with you you tried to use all opening day games, not just your original premise of opening "on the road."

No matter how you try and spin it, every other team in the NFL would kill to have our opening day on the road record.

You spoke without facts. When presented with facts you present conditions. How did I know (see 1st post) that you would?

Hint...30 yard slant.

You didn't start putting qualifiers on it until you got slapped across the face with it.

That is the essence of spin control. Spin on Mr. Tornado.

Why are the 2000, 2001 and 2002 seasons relevant to you when those were Campo's teams--and not Parcells?

Hey, he could have said oops. He invites the whoopings by speaking without facts.

It's a life buoy.

Unfortunately, there's an anvil tied to that life buoy and I threw it overboard.
