Everyone says Tony looks great in practice. I don't know what that has to do with taking a hit and staying healthy. That's the major concern.

If this discussion involved a 29-year-old Romo who was coming back from an ACL with no other major injuries, then it's a different discussion with me, and I assume many others who stand by Dak.

But Tony is 36. He has had two back injuries. He was out for a good portion of the season last year, and then when he came back, he got injured again.

Then he heals and plays a pre-season game, and instead of getting rid of the ball, he tries to run and gets tackled and hurts his back AGAIN!

Unfortunately, your body loses its ability to rebound from injury proportionate to your age. The older you get, the longer it takes you to heal. This is science.

I've had back problems for over 20 years. I know that it feels great at times and then if I just move the wrong way it can flare up on you. I can't imagine what it would be like to play football with it. Tony can not move or slide like he used to. Every time he gets hit you have to hold your breath that he gets back up. If it was 10 years ago it would be a no brainer but age takes it's toll on everybody.

But is it fair to Romo to expect that much in one game? I don't care how good he looks in practice, real game time is a different animal, esp when you haven't played in over 2 years.....

I wouldn't mind getting him some live action. If we are in a situation where we have pretty much locked up the NFC East and HFA, I would like to see him get some playing time to knock off the rust. If we lose in that situation where we still have the division and HFA, who really cares if we lose?

Kind of surprised the poll is as close as it is. It's the first loss in a long time. Yes, he had a really bad game (many others did as well) but you can't mess up the chemistry at this point or after one loss.

Agreed. I don't know why I'm surprised, though. We had a decade of the same ridiculous BS with Tony. Every time he had a bad game, there was an ocean of people wanting him benched.

lol doubt it, considering our back ups were pedestrian. The rookie has hit the wall and the Cowboys can't let it kill the season because of it.

Prescott is young. The offensive line is pass blocking very well on a consistent basis. Elliott is a machine taking on blitzers. Even though Free is the weak spot in the offensive line, I doubt anyone's will lay a significant shot on Prescott this season. Lastly, I believe Garrett will repeat the process of 2014 and play his starters in all 16 games.

I believe Romo will take live action snaps with another team in 2017 at the earliest.

For now Dak... probably... but ask again at halftime. No matter what I would start giving Romo some more snaps with the starting team.

is there really any chemistry with the receivers and the QB at this point? The game was on them. You can't lose a game when your defense gets 3 takeaways and surrenders only 10 points.

Don't you think Jones and Garrett considered that possibility happening weeks ago?

I voted consistently in the these polls for Romo up until the last poll before this one. There just came a point where the streak became too much to mess with and Dak earned the right to keep going (after the Pittsburgh or Baltimore game, I forget when I changed). Because of that, I think he still has the right to keep going. However, I think we have now reached a point where his leash gets short. He still starts against Tampa Bay, but if he has another game like this one, it will be time to seriously look at switching.

The difficulty now is the potential to damage our future. Once we crossed the line and made it official, it makes switching back tough.

So when do we mess up chemistry? After another loss? After we are 1/2 game down going into week 17? These are serious questions because the book may have been written on how to beat Dak, just like it was written on Romo during his first starting season. I really don't want to limp into the playoffs, and I really don't want to try to play a rusty Romo on the road in Seattle if it comes to that. Dak needs to be on a short leash, even if we don't make it seem like he's on a short leash. For now I agree that we stick with Dak, but we can't wait forever to recover.

Oh yes, I feel Dak should still start vs TB, but we can't just blindly ignore his ongoing struggles. I hope he plays well and goes undefeated the rest of the season, I'm not rooting for Dak to do bad.
I think some on here are. Romo stans put him before the team.
This wasn't the first poll that asked this question. The polls began in October. Wouldn't it be more correct for you to say you can't get jiggy with anybody who said Rom should have started the first game he was certified healthy enough to play in?
I think the polls got silly post-Pittsburgh game. Before that I guess it was debatable. Now? After the first loss in 3 months? Asinine...

When? That's a fair question and I don't exactly have the best answer. However, I know it's not after the first loss since week one.

When we don't win the SB this year, it is going to be one LONG off season around here.

What if Dak has another first half like last night and has a couple of turnovers and we are down going into the second half next week?
