Does Dak wait until the WR makes a cut to throw?

I have been a critic of Dak... and yes the price tag matters because you are being paid as a 2-3 QB in the league but today he was excellent. Spot on with his throws and throwing into tight spaces. I have no agenda but the INT was not his fault. Even my wife mentioned that CD quit on his route. Dak was extremely efficient and we are 6-2 at the bye. As an aside... it ain't the 90s but that offensive line is very good. Your thoughts, please.
the price tag has nothing to do with...unless you have somebody better at a better price that can do what people are asking. just complaining is just that, complaining. if there are no other alterntives that are better, then it is what it is.

secondly, he is not top 2,3 paid QB, he is 8th highest....doesn't change the fact that we want a QB that can lead the offense, be critical part of the team and help get the team over the hump....he does need to have some support around him, but outside of top 2 or 3, all other QBs need the same....the notion that a QB does it alone with any craap put on the team is just that...craap

these are great videos from hall of fame QB. Kurt Warner.

He breaks Dak’s play down. Giving numerous examples of Dak throwing with anticipation, throwing before a WR breaks or throws before a WR comes open in Zone coverages.

Now to be fair. There are also other times Dak plays poorly or hesitates especially when his OL is playing poorly.

So again, it’s not to say Dak “can’t” do it. He can and does on a regular basis. But Dak struggles with it when he is getting pressured too much at times and he is better against some coverages than he is others.

You have to remember. On the TV broadcast we can’t see the receiver when Dak is throwing. So we see Dak throw. Then the ball go to the receiver when it arrives there. We can’t see what the receiver is doing when Dak is in his throwing motion most of the time. You have to look at the all 22 to know for sure.

oh BS, what does Kurt Warner know about QB play. he is probably paid and/or threatened by Dak's agent any way

Dak played very well today. There's no doubt. TONY TOO!

But I noticed when tv coverage showed the QB and WR in the same frame, the WR was already out of his cut by a couple strides before Dak threw it.

So I don;t know how big a deal this really is. And I bet he certainly threw some passes earlier than the WR cut. Just saying what I saw on several passes....all (or mostly) completed.

So big deal? Not? Will it matter more against better teams?

Not sure if Dak does that or not, but he threw some damn good passes is all I know.

There is no outside.. You got it right with your final statement.. No QB does it alone. The "he carried them" narrative is some media made up crap. QBs could "carry a team" back when they played both ways and teams ran the single wing and he carried the ball every down. Since the advent of the forward pass and the two platoon system no player has carried any team anywhere..

Steve, welcome back from your coma.

Yes, Prescott has zero ability to anticipate and throw someone open.
Poor Ms. Wentz.

Your husband’s a loser and Dak just lapped him for the 80th time.

No. Not when he trusts the guy and they have cleared coverage.
He has thrown plenty of times to guys like Beasley, Coop and Schultz before they made the break.
But to young WRs? Absolutely waits to see the break.

I hate that we're bringing money into this.

It's bad enough forum members think you can't question Dak Prescott about ANYTHING...even when it LITERALLY...in black and white...is a question.

Now we have to fight about the contract inside this question.

Stupid

Depends on whether he was the first read or the second, third. Depends on whether he’s free after the cut in which case it makes sense to throw after separation, making it better for both receiver and QB. I’m sure you also saw at least 4-5 passes thrown where the ball was there immediately on the slant….tight coverage demands the anticipated throw. An open receiver against a zone means why rush it….give the receiver a little time to see the ball on its way and make sure he doesn’t stumble.

We overthink way too many things. There is absolutely no reason to throw the ball before the receiver makes his move when it’s clear he has room or when you are looking off another defender or waiting for him to clear. The passing window is much more important and sometimes you have to wait for the window to open….not just the separation from the primary receiver.
Spot on with your last sentence. Not all quarterbacks have the luxury of a quality offensive line so at times they may rush the throw and casual fans will simply blame the QB when it's not that simple.

3 tds he ran one in, 114 QBR 9-11 on 3rd down some nice runs, last week 75%n compl% 113qbr some fans are nitpicking. IT gets old..

dak was red hot since the 4th qtr last week and won both game far more efficiently then rush so why don't it matter. Hes here another reason to why doesn't it matters, hes not going anywhere as his contact dictates that, so why does it matter...??

Daks still top 10 qb no matter how a fan tries hard to says hes not..we a have liked hater as an offense even last week since daks been back..all of sudden Gallup and Schultz look closer to their old selves.. not a coincidence.
Why does it matter?

Because we are here to talk about football. We aren't here to bash...or hate because of money.

I started a civil conversation about the way Dak Prescott delivers the ball. I gave him credit for a GREAT game...and asked a question.

We have people here "LOOK at HIM...LOOK...at how he TRASHES Dak. Some "fan"."

This says more about these people than it does me. My original post is there...unedited...for people to read. OR...re-read if they have to.

Zero "hate" or "trashing"...but there people want there to be fights...even if they have to lie about it.

IDC I stand by my responses, move on. i mean it !@!@!

Besides i just rewatched the Lamb Interception Dak actually threw the ball on time early to a spot,. Lamb hesitates for second thinking hes not Getting the ball, not only hesitates but drifts toward the back S instead of flattening his route, and INT!!!

so its moot. Lamb pulled 2007 Crayton playoff route and daks getting all the heat,

I am not talking about one specific play. We can cheery plays and stats al day long to support our agenda. I'm not supporting an agenda I am asking if this "anticipating open" is any kind of issue or if it's even a thing at all.

It wasn't this last game. Dak played great. Tony Played great. TE sighting. I'm not trying to zero in on an alleged flaw. Just trying to get some "expert" (benefit of the doubt given!) on this sliver of QB/WR interaction.

He gets into the habit of only wanting to throw to open receivers on occasion. But there are plenty of examples of him throwing receivers open. His biggest knock is consistency with things like that.

As a former receiver, I never asked the QB to put it here or there or right in my chess, I just wanted him to throw it in the vicinity and I'd do the rest, and I did. If you're a good receiver, you can time the catch radius, if it's coming in too high, you time your jump. If it's coming in too late, you slow up a bit and position your body in front of the DB, if it's coming in too fast and wide, all you can do is reach for it or dive, if it's coming in to low. get your butt to the ground and catch it. That was my job, to catch the ball no matter what.

At times, I needed the ball coming before I made my break, but at times, I needed the ball to come once I was open since DBs are slick. As long as you get the ball there, that's all I can ask. I'll never forget telling my QB one time, since the DB was playing off on me the entire game, I told him, just throw it up and I'll get it, and when I took off slowly and then burst into speed, he threw it up, I made a diving catch in the back of the end zone to win the championship. My proudest moment. Just throw it sometimes and let me do the rest.

The QB has too much to worry about other than the exact point to put the ball. Sometimes the receiver has to be the star.

Quite. I don't understand the obsession with certain posters insisting Dak is this and that etc. He played very well yesterday - as he should on a loaded roster. This team is very good. Lest we forget that a practice squad QB went 4-1 (every team are .500 or better except the Superbowl champs) and lost to the only unbeaten team in the league. I'm not overly concerned with Prescott and his arm - I know what he can and cannot do. Provided he is a threat with his legs the offense will be effective like in 2016. I want him throwing it on around 25 plays, 225-250 yards with a TD or two and like yesterday, the focus being on the running game.

To quote the great Marvin Gaye "People say believe half of what you see, son and none of what hear. " (song was actually written by William Robinson, better known as Smokey)
