Sheesh, let the player put 2 or 3 pro seasons on the books and THEN consider what he's worth. I'm sure La'el would rather pull a contract commensurate with demonstrated pro-bowl play rather than the decent rookie play he's given so far,,,

Millions of people have played organized football and what percentage were diagnosed with ALS?

pretty sure that's a huge consolation to those that did or those that committed suicide as symptoms started to appear

The man will make $533,000 next year. He was royally screwed during the draft. He proved his worth. You think Jerry rips up the contract and sweetens the pot. Or you think he's getting $100,000 handshakes...

He screwed himself before the draft. Keep him at the min and he should be glad he has a job.

Because they have a sense of right and wrong that is external of what they want and they understand social dynamics. In it's simplest form you've seen it referred to as the golden rule.

It denotes empathy.

Save the empathy for the regular joes who are lucky enough to make $8.50 an hour

He doesn't deserve ****. He wanted to go undrafted, there you go. We granted his wish. He knew what he was going to make. Let him play and start 2 years then we'll talk. He hasn't done **** to be asking for more money.

you would take ALS in exchange for a 500k job for like 4 years?

First, even the ALS Association says they dont know what causes ALS...so you're making stuff up.

Second, you said he "Could contract"...only 5,600 people a year are diagnosed with it....Thats like 0.00001% of the population...so how did 0.00001% become 100% (you would take...4 years)?

screwed at the draft? his circumstances dropped him...the league didn't decide to do anything to him...he got paid more that a typical UDFA by Jones....also, he played in a few games so he hasn't merited a raise of any sort, even if they could do one

that being said, I hope that he is the final anchor in the 5-man line for the next decade...if so, he will get his money

What am I making up? Never said or implied that all NFL players get ALS, you simply said for 500k a year you would be fine getting "boneheaditis," so I followed up with a real disease. So you're the only one making things up.

.00001% of the NFL population? Because that's what relevant here. There is no inherent risk in developing ALS or any other physical ailment that NFL players have after playing for several years from playing Madden, which is what led me to ask the question.

I agree
The Cowboys were 'royally screwed' by the Dez deal
Let's ask Dez to take a pay cut and give that money to Collins

Hell no!

He signed a contract. Don't even consider a new contract until the summer before his final year.

Wow, he is only making $533,000 at age 22? What a travesty

It's about your value.. You get paid less money than the guy next to you, while you do twice the amount of work will make you a little upset, despite your salary being much more than the average salary an illegal immigrant gets here..

Sometimes the team catches a break on payroll. But they should trip over themselves to go upside down on a player with one year in the bag?

I like Collins - but howzabout he plays himself into his next contract? He had some nice moments last season - and some moments that were not so nice. He has some great potential - and the Cowboys should dig deep once he's demonstrated a consistent realization of said potential. IMO, we are shy of that point in time.

Care or don't, doesn't matter to me, however your statement could not be further from the truth. In life people die, but the vast majority of jobs really don't carry any risk what so ever. Pilots (flying is literally safer than driving), doctors, teachers, secretaries, IT specialist, fast food workers, building managers, are these people getting seriously injured due to their jobs?

You are the one trying to make some ridiculous morbid point equating playing football with getting ALS.

You are a joke.
