Does Tony Romo belong in the HOF over Eli Manning?

What a ridiculous question. lol Eli went on to win two Super Bowls over Tom Brady after beating Romo in a playoff game and a season finale elimination game. He also beat Aaron Rodgers in a playoff game at Lambeau. Romo was better during the regular season but Eli was much better during the playoffs and the postseason is how most QBs are judged. Eli is a virtual lock for the HOF and Romo will never sniff the HOF. Every year Romo is sliding down the all-time NFL passing list. He’s currently ranked 36th, while Eli is ranked 9th.

HOF and Tony Romo should NEVER go in the same sentence no matter who else gets in.

Eli benefited from one of the weirdest catches in football history
Manning benefited from two fantastic catches in my opinion. Like you mentioned, David Tyree's helmet catch in Super Bowl XLII. Extremely weird indeed. So many receivers have tried trapping a ball thrown over their head on top of their helmet. It is extremely rare seeing someone do it. Even the best who ever played typically drop those passes.

There is also Mario Manningham's sideline catch in Super Bowl XLVI. Manningham catch the ball with two defenders on him, got pounded but still managed to keep both feet inbounds.

Subtract those two outstanding plays by Manning's receivers and Brady has two more rings.

Somebody else pays attention to detail.

And the former was a once in a lifetime, did he escape the grasp, wing and a prayer back foot duck.

The latter was the absolute best throw in Eli's entire career with regard to ball placement and what game it was thrown in. He never threw another one like it.

No. ROH? Yes. HOF? Not even close.
Fair or not, most HOF QBs are judged on playoff success and Romo had very little of that.
Agreed, and what I can’t balance is those who say Dak is not elite until he wins important playoff games and proves he can make a deep run. While I actually agree 100%, those same people want to claim that Romo was elite and deserves HOF consideration. For me, Dak and Romo are both in the same less than elite category of good Cowboys QBs. The only difference is that Dak still has a chance to move ahead of Romo with one good playoff run.

Eli….not first ballot, but a guy who wins two SBs as the game’s mvp in both, and leading a huge win over the undefeated NE Pats with Brady and Moss….that guy deserves to be in the HOF. If a Cowboys QB won 2 SBs and both MVPs, our fans would give him the gold jacket before he retired.

Most Cowboys fans credit the two catches by Tyree and Manningham for Eli winning those Super Bowls. However, he had to avoid a certain sack to get the ball off to Tyree and the throw to Manningham in his second Super Bowl was on a dime! Had Romo made those two plays not one fan on this board would be giving the receivers all the credit. It’s laughable how so many fans try and discredit Eli’s performances in those Super Bowls when he was named MVP in both. Cowboys fans are so biased against him it’s a waste of time having a discussion about him, especially comparing him to Romo who some fans still have great love for. Anyone who thinks Romo had a better career than Eli and should be in the HOF over him is completely out of their minds. I know there’s some huge homers out there but get real! Lol

The NY writers no longer have the pull they once did; I doubt Eli gets in. Jim Plunkett has two rings and deserves it more but has never come close.
Eli has the fact he’s in the top 10 all time in passing going for him. That’s a mark the HOF committee will strongly look at.

Which coupled with his 2 Rings and impact factor will bode well for him.

But I still don’t believe even if he does get in at some point, it won’t be first ballot.

Yea, I’m not sure all Cowboy fans are able to provide an unbiased view . Especially as much as he was bashed over the years as one of our most hated rivals .

If Romo was top 10 all time passing in NFL history and only had 1 Ring most Cowboy fans would be arguing Romo was deserving.

Were so desperate to be contenders we think Romo was HOF - does everyone not forget before 2014 his slogan was choke artist and known to give the game away?

The one year he played MVP level is when his body broke down, unfortunate but we never saw that MVP play over the course of his career or consecutive years.

The annual league leader in passing or "passing title" goes to the best QB rating, not most yards. Eli is #54 in Passing with an 84.1 rating. Romo is top 10 with a 97.1 rating.

The passing yards has long been the guideline for passing leader. The passer rating might be more recognized in some circles this era but not long standing writers which the HOF committee is mostly made up of.

The fact that most of the greats from prior eras don’t rank high in this pass happy eras rating systems definitely flaws it.

Romo wont sniff the hall. Eli will get in not because hes a better QB but because he has the hardware and his 2011 run was outstanding aided by a good d but he was part of the reason for sure

Romo does not deserve to be in the Hall of Fame over Eli. People can criticize Eli Manning all the want but he turned it up a couple notches in the playoffs. Sure he got lucky but that's all part of the game. He led his team over the GOAT twice!

There are some average QBs in the HOF, Theissman, Namath, Bradshaw (SB Wins), Griese (SB Wins) so an average QB getting in due to SB wins there is precedence for it. To get in without a SB win you need pretty spectacular stats like Moon, and Marino. I left Kelly out since he did make it to 4 super bowls

Eli is ring-less with Jerry.

Romo was the better QB. Neither is a Hall of Famer. They let too many players in, IMO.
