Does Tony Romo belong in the HOF over Eli Manning?

There are some average QBs in the HOF, Theissman, Namath, Bradshaw (SB Wins), Griese (SB Wins) so an average QB getting in due to SB wins there is precedence for it. To get in without a SB win you need pretty spectacular stats like Moon, and Marino. I left Kelly out since he did make it to 4 super bowls
Winning championships is always going to elevate players more on the bubble or otherwise statistically undeserving. And it should.

Football is a sum sport. We keep score . Winning matters . Fortunately the HOF also recognizes great talent on lesser teams .

HOF IS FOR CAREER not for playoff success. Tony had one helluva career

R.O.H is cool enough. It's your team appreciating you and that's all that matters in the long run.

Those closest to you.

Personally , i couldn't care less what a bunch of writers that never knew me say.

There are some players who certainly weren't greats who had very little success in the playoffs that have gotten into the HOF. Warren Moon was a really good player, but he was hardly HOF worthy.

The precedent has certainly been set for very good players to make the HOF, it's just not common. That's why Romo certainly has a chance, but unlikely.

Or maybe Favre can beat him; Favre-Brady would have been the best SB matchup maybe ever. Two guys widely considered top 10 alltime QBs. Has that ever happened? Elway-Favre, Montana-Marino? GB was awesome that year and only lost in overtime in the NFCCG
This is true but GB didnt have that giants d line that affected brady so much

Eli was better in the post-season than many give him credit for. Everyone likes to bring up the helmet catch, but there was a ton more to that game.
For the contrarians: I can't stand the drooling moron.
There’s a fine line between hero and goat. Which side wins out is often determined by chance. Before the “helmet catch”, Eli panicked & threw a perfect strike to Assante Samuel who, inexplicably, dropped it. He doesn’t drop that ball, the Patriots dethrone Miami and Eli is the goat that loses the game.

The Voters love SB rings.

Not necessarily, neither Dan Marino, Dan Fouts or Warren Moon have a ring but they’re in the Hall of Fame. Jim Plunkett has two rings and isn’t in the Hall of Fame. The voters look mostly at the numbers and playoff performances.

What led up to that throw mattered but gets lost in the sauce. Not to mention that Eli had no business not getting sacked in the first place. The idea that he got a throw off AND it was on target is insane. That's what happened, I'm not really arguing "what ifs"

Only way Romo enters the HOF is if he purchased a ticket.

Moons career stats are up there . He led the league a couple times as well. He played over 20 years including winning 5 championships in CFL.

Romo’s nemesis is shorten career. Only 7 full seasons . Most of these QB’s inducted without championships have the extended careers and stats to support .

Romo has both of these going against him. If he had started like 15+ full seasons putting up his numbers would be a much stronger argument even without any championships .

Most Cowboys fans credit the two catches by Tyree and Manningham for Eli winning those Super Bowls. However, he had to avoid a certain sack to get the ball off to Tyree and the throw to Manningham in his second Super Bowl was on a dime! Had Romo made those two plays not one fan on this board would be giving the receivers all the credit. It’s laughable how so many fans try and discredit Eli’s performances in those Super Bowls when he was named MVP in both. Cowboys fans are so biased against him it’s a waste of time having a discussion about him, especially comparing him to Romo who some fans still have great love for. Anyone who thinks Romo had a better career than Eli and should be in the HOF over him is completely out of their minds. I know there’s some huge homers out there but get real! Lol
He won because the defense held NE to 14 points, period. Heck from 1980 on the SB winner has averaged 30+ points per game. The Giants won with a score of 17 in 2007 and 21 in 2011.

I think it will be a great recognition for Romo inducted into Cowboys ROH.

Romo’s mark in NFL history will be one of the remarkable Undrafted QB’s. Quite the over achiever.

Eli Manning is a 2x SB MVP and has 20,000+ more passing yards than Romo. Eli is getting in. Romo is not.

Despite holding New England to 14 points the Giants were still behind by 4 points with 2:39 left in the game. It took a last ditch drive by Eli to pull the game out. That’s what won the game. Eli was named SB MVP. In 2011 the Giants were still behind when once again Eli brought them from behind in the closing seconds. Again he was named Super Bowl MVP. Both Super Bowls came down to him having to make plays.

Eli is ring-less with Jerry.

Romo was the better QB. Neither is a Hall of Famer. They let too many players in, IMO.

I believe that Romo could have been, and that's what disappoints me most. However, could have been doesn't get you in. I kind of wish that he'd got out when he had the chance, so we could have seen for sure how he would have done elsewhere.

Not a comparable position, of course, but Ware had to leave to get a ring. He was fortunate that the Cowboys cut him.

Stat base......probably but HOFer's QB position is winning Super Bowls. Eli has two.......deserve or not.

Neither one belongs into it.

HOF should be for special players. Who changed the game (approach of DCs or OCs) because they were so good.

He led the league because he threw 500+ and 600+ times a few seasons in the 90s. His numbers compare to Randall Cunningham and his CFL success is a whole other discussion.
