arguaby, tua being younger and still has an upside vs Dak who is 31 and is likely at his peak.
looking at it that way, Dak should get less
That’s one way of looking at it. The other is Prescott has put up better numbers and had more success, even in the playoffs.

The only argument is if Dak doesn’t want to be here which I wouldn’t based on their incompetence. If they wanted to get the deal done it would’ve been done. That we do know.
Not necessarily. If you’re playing to public perception waiting could be in their favor.

Can only imagine the money CJ Stroud will command when he’s up, if he continues to build off his rookie season. Dare I say the first $70 million a year QB and that’s no exaggeration.
Based on the Cap growing about 10% each year and his Rookie contract up for renegotiation after his 4th season the Market price would be about 72 million.

Another way of proving this isn't Dallas fault its the market and teams like the Dolphins paying QBs like Tua this much
Right. It’s all about when you sign. QB’s contracts don’t necessarily represent a pecking order.

That’s still $10 million less than our guy is looking for and Philly isn’t paying their starting QB $60 million which is probably what Dak is looking for. Philly also doesn’t have an edge rusher that’s looking for $40 million per next season. Sorry, no offense but you sound like a typical fan when you say there’s way to get these things done. You’re not the one negotiating these contracts. The Cowboys are in a very difficult situation having to try and figure out a way to sign three high priced players.
It’s not just their #2 wide receiver. $51 million to their QB, $32 million to their #1 WR, a $14 million tight end, a $12.5 million running back, a $21 million guard. Yes, I do think it can be done. Jerry Jones is confused about what to do and confused about how to do it even if he knew what to do. I’m not negotiating any contracts, if Jerry Jones is he’s not being successful at it. The only difficult situation the Dallas Cowboys have is an owner that does not know how to compete in the contemporary NFL.

All fans think it can be done. It takes both sides to make an agreement. It’s looking like Dak wants to explore free agency. He’ll get paid more than what the Cowboys can or are willing to pay him.

In who’s favor?
Our owner who’s playing public perception. The longer he waits the more sympathetic the media and our fans will be .

If Jethro had pulled the trigger too soon for Market Price after horrible playoff performance would have been grilled.

But by waiting and seeing other QB’s of similar success get signed it brings more tolerance he held out as long as he could but in the end has little choice but to cave if he intended to retain him.

Maybe but not many better teams he can go to if any. And how much more. Maybe 2-3 million a year if that.

Is that worth it if you’re going to a lesser team which he places himself more in a position for injury, no playoffs , etc

Every NFLPA certified player agent sees how the Cowboys are run and advise their clients accordingly. Dak’s agent is probably telling him “get in there and get it over with”. CeeDee’s is probably telling him “the only way you’ll get an appropriate deal from that idiot is to hold out. Ask Zeke and Zack.” It may not be that the Cowboys are not interested in free agents. It’s more likely no free agents are interested in the Cowboys.

If we’re willing to pay him 55, why not 60. By the time he gets his huge signing bonus and back load contract to last season the yearly Cap figure impacts for 4-5 million more are minimal.

It’s a dilemma when you have a couple of players that are most likely looking to reset the market at two of the most high-priced positions in football. It’s an even bigger dilemma when you have another player, that will be looking to do the same thing next year. I’m starting to believe that Dak wants to test for agency. I believe he’s been offered a good deal but he wants to go to free agency because he’ll get a lot more. The talk is $65 million if he goes to free agency. He could probably get most of that fully guaranteed. The Cowboys won’t even come close to that.

But he’s killing his salary cap lol. In favor of public perception? The guy who just disowned his illegitimate daughter? His public perception sucks and always will.

Dak signed for 4/$160 mil in 2020, would be 4/$195-$200 mil with inflation now. So not a huge difference really. Similar contract.
On average the Cap goes up about 10% each season. In 4 years that would calculate to about 68 million . 4 years@ 232 million =58 mil per season.
