I'm sure if the Cowboys were interested - which is a reach anyway - that they would have Thomas thoroughly examined by a physician first.

You don't get it, WG, so I'll leave it.

Try being less vague so I don't have to assume so much. FWIW, I'm not assuming that the LBs look to Ellis as a leader - they've said as much. When your position leader is a player that has made a career out of packing his bags before December and angling to leave the team all offseason, it would be foolish to expect anything more from the players who look up to that joke.

It's also pretty foolish to expect a change in that area to manifest itself out of nowhere, despite quite a few poor showings to the contrary. Not everything can be washed away with "13-3" and "we've got this guy on the roster". There's noone on the roster who could even come close to giving us what a Zach Thomas-type player could give us.
I totally get what you're saying. I just don't agree with you. I've been very consistent about my opinion.

I haven't been vague at all. Let Zach Thomas sign somewhere else. That clear enough for you?

Shmitt in the 3rd?

Find where I ever said that

Get your facts straight if you want to try to insult me.

You were never vague about that. It was all the other things that you claimed I assumed, when I was just speaking out of necessity because you weren't specific in the first place. You might want to avoid assuming that people want to look into acquiring Zach Thomas simply because they want to "see" the fire on the field. Thomas isn't that guy, anyway.

We can just stand pat, and think that we'll be fine with the horses we've got, and another year of drafting will fix all our troubles. I remember a few offseasons ago when some people thought it would be a good idea to bring Dwight Smith aboard, and the consensus was that we'll be fine with our freakishly tall FS that we got in the draft and his bullet-magnet-buddy. I remember how that turned out.

So we can stand pat, just rock the draft and never bother to address the issue that had us sitting at home while Michael Strahan and the Giants stunned the world by "stomping" their opponents, and then next year when it happens again we can all act surprised and stunned and wonder how such a superior-talented team could possibly screw that up - or we can fix the problems we have with some inexpensive veterans with invaluable experience who command respect.

Not from the likes of you.

You just made yourself look like the idiot when once again you don't know what you're talking about.

If you disgaree about Thomas that's fine.

You're welcome to your opinion.

I'm not saying I'm right. I'm just stating mine.

how do I look like an idiot when I say that Parcells had a legitimate reason for cutting Thomas? and that being because he probably won't contribute for them, or any other team because of his concussion issue and age

You made yourself look like an idiot when you tried to insult me by implying I had stated something about Owen Shmitt that I never did.

Like I said, you have every right to your opinion about Thomas - as do I.

Bob Sacamano said:
this moved from Zach to Parcells being a football baffoon, a very, poor opinion

Only to you maybe.

Parcells cutting Thomas doesn't make him garbage.

Just like it doesn't make Parcells an 'idiot' for doing it.

You can deal in absolutes if you want to.

Doesn't mean I have to live there.

I don't need to go 'round and 'round with you in some personal exchange.

We can simply agree to disagree.

I didn't need to be specific for my position. You threw out Greg Ellis name as if I was lifting him up as a leader and I basically told you I wasn't.

You might want to avoid assuming that people want to look into acquiring Zach Thomas simply because they want to "see" the fire on the field. Thomas isn't that guy, anyway.
There are quite a few people on this board who want that. I don't have to assume much in that regard. One of the first threads that popped up on this board after the Giants loss was "We need to go get Ray Lewis! He brings fire and leadership!"

It's not about thinking the team should stand pat. I'm all for change if it'll truly benefit the team. But it's the options being presented.

I'm not totally opposed to bringing in another veteran player, but then I consider the position. Does the team need another linebacker. Maybe, maybe not. But if they do, I PREFER they draft a guy. I do not want the team to go after Zach Thomas.

Some folks need to look past the "name" guy and look for a guy who can genuinely help this team and isn't such a huge medical risk.

taking shots and then quickly running away, I like that little chicken**** move

I made a comment about Parcells having a legitimate reason for cutting Thomas, and you said something stupid about him cutting him, only to replace him w/ a sucky player

lol at your personal exchange comment, it's a forum

Those are not the only choices that Dallas can choose to take.

Zach Thomas does not provide invaluable experience and does not command respect if he is not able to play even if it were limited to the nickel and pass defense packages. You think he will be able to do at least that part. I don't. I think he is done because concussions are a tough thing to get over.

it's a forum, "personal exchanges" are bound to happen

Shots?

What shots?

You're the guy who feels the need to make things personal.

You made some 'wink wink' remark. Was there some mention of legitimate reason that was missed?

Parcells had his reasons, whatever they were.

Probably money and injury.

'Personal exchanges' are fine, but the constant pi$$ing matches are getting really old.

If you have a differing opinion, that's fine.

I can respect that.

I just ask for the same.

What's really incredible is the Dolphins are somewhere in the
40 million under the cap.Add in their picks and Parcells should
have a great time buying the groceries.

Would be great at the Jack LB position.

He could be our Donnie Edwards type player...

Don't believe he hurt his neck. It was a concussion and at first he didn't realize it. However, it turned out to be a very bad concussion and he was unable to play for the rest of the season. Frankly, when a concussion lingers that long (over a period of many weeks) I'd be very hesitant to have him come to Dallas in our 34.

Zach Thomas does not have a history of concusions, Dan Morgan does.

Thomas was in a car accident earlier in the season leading to migraines throughout the season. The concussions were no doubt related.

Thomas says he is healthy now. And he wants to play for a SB contender.

Either Thomas OR Morgan for vet min (w/incentives) would be serious upgrades over Ayodele, even Burnett. Not only can Thomas and/or Morgan play in Wade's 3-4, their contribution will go beyond the improved pass coverage, play diagnoses, tackling, speed & QB pressure from ILB spot.

Either Thomas and/or Morgan will bring intensity (real intensity, not just talk), leadership, experience, football savvy, maturity and composure.

Sign both or either for small $$$, then draft their replacement - USC's Rey Maualuga - next season.

IF JJ signs this old, broken necked, undersized 4-3 LB - I will be stunned and apalled.
