Hee going to explode this year. This is how he started at Ohio state according to urban Meyer. It will get slower, he will get in sync with the line and bam here we go

I think not being in sync is a big part of it. Backs get a feel for how the line blocks and linemen get a feel for how they need to block for them.

Elliott is ranked 8th in the NFL in rushing yards and only two running backs have more touchdowns than him (each with 3).

People are using one bad game and a couple bad snaps to try to prove their point that this kid shouldn't have been drafted 4th overall while ignoring what is going on with Bosa and Ramsey. This was still the correct pick and I think we saw a much better game out of him last week despite the fumbles.

Some want to make Morris the starter (they've wanted this since training camp to push their agenda not help the team). But his numbers are certainly not demonstrably better than Elliotts.

Does he need to run better? Absolutely. I will also say the line needs to block better. I will also say Dak needs to take shots further down the field to keep defenses honest.

I would ask that people put their agendas in their pockets til week 9.

Thanks
He only has one place to go from here and that is UP.

This is the best thing that could have ever happened to him early in his career. A touch of humility will go a loooong way.

Zeke has been pretty bottled up for the first two weeks. Part of that is the shortly play calling, especially calling for runs on first down into a stacked box committed to stopping the run.

Zeke is ranked 8th largely based largely on his number of carries. With that having been said, I am not sure Adrian Peterson in his prime could have done much running against that many men in the box.

Zeke seems to be getting a little bit more patient with his runs and it is starting to show a little bit. He ran better in the second game. He is still rushing things a little bit. The game will start to slow down for him when he stops trying to hit a home run on every run. He needs to slow down his reads and then accelerate through the hole.

As for the fumbles, yes I think they are a problem. Part of it is that he is getting quite a few carries as a rookie and is getting the **** hammered out of him down after down. I think part of that was caused by fatigue. Maybe we should be giving him 20 carries but giving him a rest on a series or two in between.

No more fumbling. I'm not really worried about that because he carries the ball correctly and has no history of it.

I expect fewer 8-man fronts this week. Chicago has to know that Dak is getting more wrinkles by the week, so that would be suicide.

Zeke should benefit from that.

He has a history of it in the NFL now. :D

He is doing well. He's not doing great, since RB is one of those positions that require the least amount of time to adjust to, but he's doing well. I'm excited to see what he will learn and will do in the future as long as he protects the ball. I really don't want to see another RB that is great except for a penchant for fumbling games away.

Zeke had some nice runs. The O line hasn't been doing him any favors. They looked far from 'the best line in football' when it came to the running game. Zeke also needs time to adjust to the NFL game after the baby treatment he received during the preseason. He needs to learn that he needs to use that shiftiness and elusiveness to avoid hits instead of initiating contact. You can't run into NFL players and win nearly as much as you did in college. He's starting to pick it up.

I'm telling you, Zeke lacks explosiveness right now. He's lacking vision & burst. Now, it could be a nagging injury, not enough snaps during the preseason, slow developing plays, who knows.

Here's where the guys ahead of Zeke in rushing yardage were drafted:

#27
#44
Undrafted
Undrafted
#97
Undrafted
#15
#86

Just incase you need another reminder about why drafting a RB 4th overall is idiotic.

Zeke looks fine to me. He significantly improved over last game. The problem to me is that run blocking. Any time the o line opens up a hole for him, he's running for 8 yards or so. A lot of times, there is nothing there.

I believe if we had a much better defense they would allow Dal to throw deep but because our defense is not great out rookie QB had to not take too many chances

Are you serious? Dang thats junky. Hopefully he will get that up for the Cowboys sake.
Yup. He's 8th in total yards. Which after 2 weeks isn't impressive. He's 8th in total yards but has been given the 5th most carries. That 33rd yards per rush mark is 33rd.

It's early so let's not write off the guys career...but given that running the ball is literally the easiest thing to translate from college to the pros it's concerning. To me. But he also hasn't had a qb who defenses respect to stretch the field. So maybe this isn't fiar to him.

But....wasn't he brought on to be the difference maker for the QB? And not the QB being the difference maker for him? It's concerning.

I think Elliott will be fine.
But no, imo, spending the 4th overall on him was too much.

Water under the bridge.
Now just hoping he tears it up

If that happens. They have to at least be considering giving Dak the starting job, especially if he starts throwing TDs. Despite whatever was said.
.
If Romo is healthy in a few weeks, no, I dont think it is even a remote consideration.

Just pretend we took Dak at number 4 and we took Zeke with the comp pick.

See, much better now.
