After watching the AFC and NFC Championships, I'm convinced that coaching is the biggest ingrediant for success.
That and staying level headed. Lamar did look like Dak at times yesterday. Flustered, deer in the headlights. Credit KC's DC for a brilliant game plan. Watch how his Edge players stayed home and kept Lamar in the pocket (most of the game). Micah is a huge talent, I hope he's a Cowboy for life, but he (and our DC) could learn a thing or 2 from watching the Chiefs yesterday. Keep your assignment, maintain the Edge. Don't rush upfield and take yourself out of plays. The Chiefs turned Lamar into a pocket QB yesterday, and the world saw, he's no Tom Brady decision wise. And I agree we need to rebiuld this Defense, we are Charmin soft in the middle.
I think Harbaugh is a good coach too, but yesterday, the Master taught the Grasshopper a lesson. Reid is one of the best, ever.
On the NFC side, the way the Niners weathered that first half, and came out so focused in the 2nd, is a credit to Shanahan (and those players). They stayed to their game plan, made defensive adjustments, played their game.
I like the Lions a lot. They drafted a lot of guys I really liked the last several years, and I have Michigan roots, so I really like them. They are going to be a force to rekon with too, they have almost 60 mil in cap space and most of their key players are back.
I like Campbell as a leader of men, but yesterday, his bravada cost them the game. I wholeheartedly disagreed with some of those 4th down tries, especially the one where he could have tied the game in the 4th. If that was 4th and 1 or 2, maybe I understand, but you were down by 3 well into the 4th, you take those points and tie the game. Ended up being the margin of victory.
I generally like Burkhardt and Greg Olson, but damn, Olsen is such a pleaser. He was defending Campbell's decision to not kick the FG. Sometimes, you need a commentator to call it what it is. One reason I like Troy so much, he's unafraid to upset someone if he sees a bad decision, he calls it out.
