There is some truth to this. People naturally want to slam the cable provider because they are the provider but the networks greed plays a big factor into this.
I'm gonna laugh in 3 years when all these cheap streaming services are over 100 bucks and offer half the channels the cable provider gave. Wonder if these same people will blame the stream provider or say "hmmm maybe the networks are manipulating prices to maximize profits"
They will blame the stream providers unfortunately.
The american consumer isnt that bright. We have a nation that looks at a place to point the finger and never takes the time to ask why something is the way it is. We just find the easiest target and blame them.
The networks know this. They have been playing the consumer for a while and most still don't figure it out.
Rebroadcast rates have jumped by more than 50% across the board in the last 5 years. Cable companies cannot pass this increase on to their customers dollar for dollar. The end result is the cable operators need to cut back in other ways to maintain profits. Equipment rental and sports tier surcharges, local tv surcharges ect. These are not bringing the cable company more profit. They are only allowing a similar profit margin since most tv service revenue pass through to the networks anyway.
It won't end. This is what american's do. We blame the health insurance industry instead of the healthcare cost. (different subject because the biggest failure of the insurance industry is the inability to control cost)
