During the draft what dissapointed you the most?

For me at first was the Mendenhal -Jones debacle...But really the low point was selecting a TE over a WR and letting the Giants take MArio. That has to be the low point, What was Jerry thinking? a TE? Time to give up that Gm hat Jerry.

JERRY a TE? W T F:banghead:

The only things that disappointed me were:

1. I barely got to see any of the draft as I was helping my son move on Saturday and was out all day on Sunday.

2. Not taking a WR on Day-1. I can only assume that Jerry has a trade for a veteran in mind before the season starts.

3. Seeing that the Commanders took S Chris Horton from UCLA in the 7th round. I was really hoping we would pick him up but I guess we traded away our 7th rounder.

I was a little bit baffled as to why we traded away our TE for a 4th and then drafted another one in the 2nd but after seeing some clips of Bennett, I am not all that disappointed. Still, it just showed how right I was to be upset when we took Fasano in the first dang place.

GRRRRR!!!! Stupid Parcells! :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

For me it was taking Felix at #22 with Mendenhall on the board. Dallas could have taken Jenkins at #22 and still taken Felix at #28. I believe Jerry didn't think Mendenhall and Jenkins would fall that far (nobody did) and didn't know what to do in that situation since he hadn't planned for it.

YAKUZA

No. Someone else said that, but the Titans had Felix barely ahead of Chris Johnson...so Felix would have been gone at 24.

Jeff Fisher of the Titans when interviewed about the Chris Johnson pick alluded to the fact that they were watching Felix Jones.

I know people want to find fault with something but If Jenkins went #22 I dont think Felix would have made it to #28 and vice versa. I think we handled it just right

Exactly, several sources said the Titans would have taken him.

Instead they had to settle for Chris Johnson. ;)

True dat

No naked, non-pregnant Jessica Alba.

Easily the most disappointing.

I'd say all of the receivers getting drafted before our pick in the second round. I was hoping Hardy or Sweed would fall to us.

Yep. That was a head-scratcher to many of us when it happened.

But it's almost taboo to criticize the Cowboys' draft in the hours or days after it happens.

Oh, they could have? So then neither Pittsburgh, or The Titans, who drafted after we did and also took backs, would have taken him?

Riiiiiigggghhhhtttt.

You're exactly right. Whatever the order neither of them are there at 28 IMO. Quite possibly Cason would not be there either. Then you would have had to take Flowers.

There was so much trading going on that anyone who wanted a corner could have moved up and gotton one in front of us. I thought for sure that was what Atlanta was doing and going to take a CB.

In the space of 6 picks 3 were RB's and 2 were CB's

You guys have to get over this 1 yr wonder Mendenhall.

By the way, my most dissapointing time was when we were trading away our third rounders because I had to go out all Sunday afternoon and have no clue what in the world we had traded for.

Bennett was a close 2nd because I did not think we got good value for the Fasano/Ayodel trade in the first place and then to go right back and take a TE was a bit irritating. Not saying he won't turn out or he was not good value but seemed like a very odd total scenario.

You know it is funny that just the other day I was saying that I would love to trade Fasano and Carpenter to Miami for their 2nd round pick but there was no way that BP and Ireland would take it. Someone on here said that they very well might.

Chief, there's criticism and then there's just plain ol whining...

Some people post well-thought posts outlining what disappointed them. Yours is a good example...

And then there's those one-line threads where the thread title "I hate Jerry!" and the banghead smiley in the post.

There's some middle ground in there, but not alot...

There were players who I would have liked but were off the board but overall I think this was a good draft by the Cowboys and most who cover the draft felt they did good as well.

Kiper gave us a B+ which is pretty good coming from him.

Couldn't understand why we didn't draft a WR but instead drafted another TE in the 2nd round. Now understand about Bennett but still find it hard to believe that none of the WRs still on the board when we drafted Bennett didn't have bigger upsides then Hurd & Austin.

The late start. I hated that. Get it cranking early and let me celebrate.

I agree with Mel. There are always going to be players that people like and hope their team takes but all in all Dallas was able to address a couple of needs with quailty players without reaching and were able to get some talented players who will help provide depth.

It worked out great for me. I ended up playing 36 holes Sat and was suprised the drafted had not started by the time I got home.

I would have liked it if our third pick was not a TE (despite his skills it was not a position that needed immediate attention, so don't get them in a twist -- again -- NAV!!!!)

Also, we should have looked at FA for a third-string RB (again, though Choice has his advocates and his college record seems stellar, TE and RB [after Jones] did not seem to be immediate needs to be filled in the earlier rounds of the draft.)

But in the first round, F. Jones and Jenks are solid. Those two alone constitute a high B or an A.
After that, it wasn't much to write home about.

The polarizing opinions on every pick. When we get one player instead of another and having to go through all the BS to read good posts. People's crystal ball knowing what the future holds and the I told you so mentality(Fantasy football fallout).

Sometimes you need to draft role players even with the 1st round pick because not every player is going to be great.Stats does not make your team better as covering your weak spots does. The best thing you can do is ask if your team is better today; than it was prior to the draft. Not what if we took this guy or that guy because I like him.

Without a doubt not taking Manningham and then watching the Giants take him.

I completely understand not taking him in the 1st or 2nd but at the end of the 3rd...hell almost the 4th round it would have been a great place to take him.

It probably wouldn't have been as bad if the Giants didn't take him...but if he turns out to be good it's just going to make me sick.

I was thinking when we traded those two picks that we could have had Justin King and Manningham too and that was a bit dissapointing for me being a Michigan fan and all.

But Manningham is pretty stupid so I will just now be a bit dissapointed about Justin King.
