This is a strange point to make, considering Philly did the exact same thing with us. Beat us with Hurts, lost with Minshew. You mean how they lost to Philly with the backup QB but beat Philly with the starter lol?
No but they’ll extend him to reduce the cap. Everyone squealing about Hurts getting over $50 per year aren’t going to be happy when Dak AAV starts with a 5. If Dallas can keep it below 50 they should be thrilled. He won’t see that money.
No doubt, that graphic doesn’t include the last two years of the deal and I’m sure the hit will be huge. Howie is counting on the cap increasing substantially with the new TV deal in ‘24 and I’m sure he’ll rework the deal in a couple years. Howie loves to kick the can but so far he seems to have avoided true cap he’ll.wait till we see the number of void years. A lot of this contract may not hit the cap till his third contract with the eagles.
Exactly. No but they’ll extend him to reduce the cap. Everyone squealing about Hurts getting over $50 per year aren’t going to be happy when Dak AAV starts with a 5. If Dallas can keep it below 50 they should be thrilled.
The point stands. In a league where teams are desperate for starting QBs, Rush got a whopping 2 year deal for $5 million total. He has more value for the Cowboys
It’s a reminder how great a priority it is for teams to solidify their Franchise QB despite whatever strains it places on managing the Cap around them .I think the Eagles were nuts to overpay, but that's a good thing for their divisional opponents. Good for him but it was a mistake for his team.
It will come back to bite them. Awesome.
I just hope Dak doesn't get a big head about this and want more.
YepHow is that overpaying? That's just paying. It's basically what everyone expected for a top tier QB...some percentage higher than the last "biggest contract ever". Burrows will be 5% higher than Hurts. The next guy will be 5% higher than Burrow. Etc, etc.
It's not overpaying, it's just the price of QBs on an ever upward sliding scale. Only other option would be to move on from him
Of course . There’s no end in sight. We will have a Billion dollar QB soon.No doubt. Then dragging their feet but then. That said, the market will probably continue to grow for quite a while
I mean, yes, I think that's why we are seeing ownership groups taking over teams now. We have had Walmart take over the Broncos. Washington just had a large group take them over. The Panthers I think had a 2 person team take them over. I think, especially with the QB market, it's getting to a point where, like in the Premier League, unless it's an individual of insane wealth or a Middle Eastern royalty figure, large groups are having to buy teams now to account for the QB market.Of course . There’s no end in sight. We will have a Billion dollar QB soon.
that was sarcasmAnd you can't add because you're tooth off lol 2
dude. you are all over the place. you can't stick to any logic, and you can barely write at times. and why even state Gallup >>>> Smith. that alone makes you have negative credibility. It should be obvious why I brought up each player. If you had any imagination you would figure it out. It clearly goes to your idea of comparisons. And I never even mention a TE--you are the one drinking too many beers. I also never said that Hurts didn't have a good supporting cast. Anyone reading my posts over the past few years knows that I believe them to have the best o-line in the game. I simply reiterated some of the nonsense I read on this board. Probably some of yours, based on your reading and understanding comprehension. You're not the fool who said Steele was better than Lane Johnson, are you?
Hurts did ball out last year. Perhaps you are caught up in the stats department and forgot about what it means to play a disciplined game within a designed system. Dak would not have done as well, as the skill set needed to run that system is not Dak's...just as Hurts's skill set in not best suited for last year's Kellan Moore offense.
As for not knowing football, a few people here know I played four years of D1, three as a starter. I know just a little bit about the game.
How is this even possible? They had to back load the hell out of it
yes, the hit will be huge, thus the team can either decide to rebuild by taking a huge cap hit or they can extend. its pretty standard. you can't worry about 5 years down the line.No doubt, that graphic doesn’t include the last two years of the deal and I’m sure the hit will be huge. Howie is counting on the cap increasing substantially with the new TV deal in ‘24 and I’m sure he’ll rework the deal in a couple years. Howie loves to kick the can but so far he seems to have avoided true cap he’ll.
wouldn't surprise me for this to happen in the next 5 years.Of course . There’s no end in sight. We will have a Billion dollar QB soon.
I never said Gallup>>Smith. I stated that someone else on these boards said this. Like I said, you can't read. There are Eagle fans who understand my post but you can't. Maybe you are the one who had concussions (yes, I had two). You can continue to trash talk me without understanding what I wrote. That's all I'm saying to you anymore, as you simply aren't worth the time to reply.dude. you are all over the place. you can't stick to any logic, and you can barely write at times. and why even state Gallup >>>> Smith. that alone makes you have negative credibility.
Hurts didn't ball out. he ran pretty well. he was 10th in passing. he had one of the strongest supporting casts of any QB in the NFL.
perhaps all the concussions you suffered in D1, are partially responsible for what you wrote. lets just go with that.
Well it was strange to even bring up they went 4-1 at the beginning of the season as if that means something. But the fact that Dak moved the football all over that defense and that Rush couldn’t is a “strange point”….of course it is lol. This is a strange point to make, considering Philly did the exact same thing with us. Beat us with Hurts, lost with Minshew.
QB salaries are compensator to the increasing Salary Cap which is driven by the growing Revenue.I mean, yes, I think that's why we are seeing ownership groups taking over teams now. Not in the next 3 years. He averages 18 million per year.Goodbye surrounding talent.
There are only 8-15 competent QBs. W/ 32 teams, that is a scarcity. Why is there a scarcity? It would seem that today‘s game is much more QB friendly. Are colleges not growing NFL QB talent?
