Eagles re-sign Jalen Hurts

Not sure what your talkin about Mr. Narrative about me predicting 8 wins? What I can predict is that QB of ours throwin picks and pick sixessss again to lose the important game. Facts.
 You haters are hopeless.

Wait until Burrow, Herbert and Lawrence get their 2nd contracts.
It never ends. Hurts deal will look small compared to theirs. And 4 or 5 years from now, some guy that's not even in the NFL right now, will be signing HIS 2nd contract for 5 years 600 million, with 400 guaranteed.

How is that overpaying? That's just paying. It's basically what everyone expected for a top tier QB...some percentage higher than the last "biggest contract ever". Burrows will be 5% higher than Hurts. The next guy will be 5% higher than Burrow. Etc, etc.

It's not overpaying, it's just the price of QBs on an ever upward sliding scale. Only other option would be to move on from him
It's overpaying based on the cap %. The numbers are in on that. Teams with QB's that make over a certain percent (I think it's 15% but could be lower) almost never make it to and win a SB. Soooo yeah, it's overpaying even if the market wants to pay them. Numbers don't lie.

Well, it definitely helps to have QBs on a rookie contract.

But by that definition, EVERY team that has a good QB will "overpay".

If you want a top level QB, you either got to pay him, or let him go and hope u can draft an AllPro QB every 4 years.

Baltimore is preparing an explosive device to be delivered into Philly headquarters.

Lamar is loving this.
Huh? This HELPS the ravens.

One more Normal, non fully guaranteed contract, and it makes it easier for Ravens to say "look, he signed this....so add 10 % and sign it and shut up".

Every owner in the league likes this hurts deal.

It seems some folks manage cap space better than others.

I don't know where he got those numbers, but they're not realistic. Just do the math. This year is the 4th year of his rookie contract, so it will still be low. Next year is the first year of his 5 year extension, it too will be reasonable. But no chance on this God's green Earth with 2025 be 21 million unless they absurdly backloaded the contract.

Wow! You would think that Hurts won a championship for Dallas with all the praise, love and admiration.

I would never pay a QB in today's market unless they were a bonafide future hall of fame type talent like Burrow or Herbert.

Pick one in the first round, play 4 years with them, pick up the 5th year option, turn and burn if they are good but not great. Build a contending roster around the player and just slot in the next 1st rounder. After enough tries, you should have gotten lucky and gotten one of those top guys or have won a Superbowl with a good starter on a cheap rookie deal.

Why NFL GMs are too afraid to emulate the SanFran model is very confusing to me.
Yeah...I can't disagree here.

That said, if ur the Eagles owner, how do you say "good bye runner up to NFL MVP and SuperBowl QB. ..we'll just cut you and let the Giants sign you" and then draft a QB with ur 1st round pick that in most years will he in the 20s, knowing there's a 50/50 chance he won't even be in the league in 4 years.

Owners are basically forced to pay the mega deal, and HOPE the QB keeps growing and becomes a year in, year out All Pro.

SanFran would shell out that kind of money too, if they ever could draft a guy that was very good. They just haven't found a good QB yet.

Time will tell if the contract is horrible, on the surface it seems about right. Dude hasn't turned 25 yet and team or not went to the bowl and if the defense did anything in the second half would have won it.

The Cowboys not signing Prescott to a long term contract after 2018 season was egregious!! They will forever be CHASING THE CAP. The Eagles traditionally would have done this deal even if Eagles didn’t make it to the Super Bowl (Probably just lesser gtd) Eagles GM is Awesome!!

Purdy will be better in the training room

And even if Lance is better this year, that still can mean he plays subpar. There’s a large spectrum of what improvement can mean. Picking up Sam Darnold may be one of the smartest moves of the offseason
SanFran is a seesaw team.

One year, NFCCG
Next year 4-13
Next year SuperBowl loss
Next year 7-10

For whatever reason, they just jump up then back down. Don't be surprised if SanFran has an off year in 2023
