Just listening to Hangin' with the Boys. He says at 4.15 mark that it would have taken a first to land him.

Sound's very much like we were prepared to give this up.

I'm speechless!

Cooper head and shoulders better than Cook---our management does not know how to deal with some of the best but routinely over pay guys like Zeke....OK Cooper did not want Covid vaccine so what

and at times it seemed he was missing in games....but did you see the quality of play of Dak in those games?....remember Cooper 2018 saved our season and we made playoffs and that game against

Minnesota where he made majical catches on sideline....one or 2 for TD's ?......they always had to double team him left other recievers open...always had over a 1000 per season and helped Gallup

and Ceedee get a 1000 too....we wont even talk how management screwed the pooch on Randy Gregory....not that we need more DE's this year ....just the principle of it.....plus if we had really gone

after free agents or trades with gusto like the Sheagles....guarantee had at least one more SB....truth is as long as you have Jones's personnel management we will be better than average and that

makes bottom line good enough now team worth 8 billion....when you paid 140 million 33 years ago...i am sure Jerry and Stephen banging the desk on the super Yacht guzzling Johnnie Walker blue

$250-300 per llter.....yes i am projecting anger...40 year marriage went down the tubes and feel bad....i will shut up now

I very much hope he’s wrong about that.

But even if it was just a second round pick, it still makes the Jones boys look like idiots.

Give away Amari Cooper for nothing and then invest another premium pick on yet another big-money receiver to fill the void that THEY CREATED.

They for sure dont only look like idiots.

That's true but there is always things you can do to help them.

Tyreek hill isn't double teamed on every play and you'd think coverage would at least roll his way but they move him around. This team does so much less of that. They line up in mostly the same formations, running the same routes, and Dak dak typically throws to not just who is open but typically who is 1 on 1. So even if Coop is open he may not have been looked at if he had coverage rolled his way, that's not on him. And mostly that is a good thing when they had cooper, CD, Gallup there isn't a need to take too many chances just attack the 1 on 1 matchup. Right now KM has actually started moving guys around a little better and it helped last game. we will see if they keep it up. Guys like Hill and Kupp wouldn't be the superstars they are here, they would be good but not the clutch players they have grown to be.

Yea I get that about randy but missing games is missing games. And that shows how dumb this front office can be, willing to pay randy big money even though he has never played a full season for various issues. But they guy who fought through injuries you trade away for nothing because you don't like his demeanor. Thats a weak front office move.

This team actually did a heck of that ( moving WRs around) prior to the 2nd half collapse, when teams per Denver's Vic Fangio ..
Kellen actually was using hurry up tempo, multiple pre-snap motion, ..rub routes ..bunch formations, had Cooper lining up at both outside and slot inside.
Dak was among top ranked QB vs the blitz ...it all looked Pretty and eye glass impressive .. until the Vic Fangio movement

Instead of overloading and all out blitzing vs Dak, ..Vic blue printed and forced heavy zone shell back , and force Dak to beat you underneath.
We simply never adjusted accordingly ,..

I can't believe Dallas was even thinking about Brandon Cook. 2nd round and 4th round picks plus pick up $18 million 2023 salary.

The reported price for Brandin Cooks was ridiculous and the Cowboys were wise to say no
A lot has been made about the $18M in guaranteed money for next season that is tied to Brandin Cooks and how that was a hurdle in trade discussions between the Texans and interested teams. This is particularly interesting given that they negotiated an extension with Cooks back in the offseason so they knew this would be an impediment, but facts and evidence or whatever.

It is never easy to get an NFL team to take on a contract of that stature, but it is more difficult when you are asking for some premium capital in addition to that. According to ESPN the Texans wanted teams to absorb the $18M as well as a second- and fourth-round pick.

And if they still had Cooper, they might be great.
Oh my, they can be great without Cooper. The Cowboys didn't want him. The coaches didn't want him. Dak didn't want him. That should tell you something.

Seriously?

Cooks has caught passes from two of the greatest passers in NFL history.

Just stop.

Nice try but he last caught a pass from Tom Brady was 5 years ago. Since then he’s caught passes from greats like Jared Goff, Davis Mills and Tyrod Taylor.

I wasn't terribly crazy about bringing Amari back but I agree with you. I just don't get it.

While the Cowboys are doing well, it’s hard to argue that wide receiver help wouldn’t be welcomed. Whether people want to admit it or not, the team is missing Amari Cooper, who is having a stellar season with the Browns. James Washington hasn’t played a snap for Dallas yet after sustaining an injury in training camp. CeeDee Lamb has been a decent WR1, but recently extended Michael Gallup only has 135 receiving yards in five games since his return from ACL surgery.

While fans have a right to be frustrated that the Cowboys didn’t make any moves to boost the roster’s WR corps, there were some trades that Dallas was wise to steer clear from.

2nd time i have responded to this post....that would also have meant we gave up 2 -1st rounders to cover one receiver spot.....and cut one who is better than cooks anyway....probably would have cut Cooks too

so you end up just giving away 2 1st rounders.....also people dog Noah Brown and He has exceeded all expectations of him as receiver....i believe he has second most receiving yards on team right now

plus he is a mauler as a receiver blocker......yes he fumbled that one by goal line but he took viscious hit....wont count that against him for he has improved dramatically as receiver i have watche film on him

Is it just me or does it feel like any other team could have had Cooks for less?

could not i mean i could not agree more...why do you think Ceedee and Michael Gallup have 1000 yd seasons...because Coop was always double or tripled teamed...and Coop always got a 1000 yds

and he is younger than Cooks too

Let me get this straight. We only got a 5th rounder for Cooper...and we were told that was the best you should expect because someone else was taking on his 20m cap hit....but 8 games into the season we were open to giving up a 1st day pick and take on a similar cap hit to get a WR?
No, we were NOT willing to give a first round pick. Just because Houston wanted one doesn’t mean we were interested, and we obviously weren’t because he’s still in Houston. No team was ever going to give a 1 for Cooks.

Also your the Texans your now 1-6-1 for the year another garbage season and no Cooks against the Eagles last night missed several practices in a row during the trade deadline drama.

I’m sorry but in a ballgame your team was fighting it’s life for your young QB sure could have used you as a target against Philly . So now what you come back to the team with a funky attitude . Here’s a thought make things better in Houston stop crying .

Should have kept Cooper. We don't even spend that money for anything.

I do believe this is why the FO has become more risk averse when it comes to making these trades.

The Cooper trade a few years ago has hardened them even more so. In the end, he wasn’t their type of “guy”. Kind of solidifies their philosophy.

What do you mean? Cooper was Jerry's best acquisition ever. Cooper was worth the 1st round pick that we got for him. But Jerry & son messed up by trading him for peanuts.

Now were left without a true #1.
