People are downplaying the possible loss of Tony.

Exactly, .. and not realizing how important he has been to our running game success.

I think Weeden will be better here than he was in Cleveland, ... everybody sucks in Cleveland. Colt McCoy looks better now than he did in Cleveland.

Hopefully Weeden can pass well enough to help take the pressure off of the OLine and the running game.

If Romo isn't full go then start Weeden the next two weeks and let Romo heal up to (hopefully) close out the season.

To use a Jerry term, I'm not all gunned-up about the way this team looks with a hobbled Romo at the helm. We saw it week 1, and we saw it late on Monday. Not a good look.

If it is a deep bruise there is no reason to think 2 weeks to so call heal. No doubt painful but not a type of injury that will lead to further problems. It comes down to how much tolerance Romo has.
Given the fact Romo has played with one of the most painful injuries (Broken Ribs) hell it hurts when you breath let alone throwing a ball and getting hit. I would be surprised if Romo missed anytime

If that OT Romo from Monday night shows up to play Arizona, we are screwed. I have little faith in Romo right now so if Weeden get's the start, I'm very good with that.

I've never seen Weeden play a good game back when he was with the Browns. Please Tony dope yourself up & get out there.

According to a tweet from Bryan Broaddus
Bryan Broaddus@BryanBroaddus
@TechTina02: @BryanBroaddus anything on Romo?? Ed Werder says he's hearing whispers that he's out for a game or two” Ed has good sources

Yeah, you'll have to excuse me if I don't believe a damn thing that comes out of Werder's mouth. All he likes to do is spread bad news when it comes to the Cowboys. I've never heard a positive Ed Werder report on the Cowboys, dude is a total ambulance chaser.

If we can believe what has been reported this season, the problem with Tony is not the surgery. The problem with Tony is the strength. If this injury limits his ability to use his legs, then he's in trouble because he's already less then 100% in that regard. Tony has been doing it with mobility, intelligence and a big dose of the running game. I can see where this injury could make Tony ineffective, regardless of his ability to take the pain. You can play through the pain but if you can't manage the strength required to make the throws, then it doesn't really matter.

... and I can't believe that people are taking his word at face value. Especially before they believe the owner, GM or the coach. A curious fan base we have.

My thing is if he misses this weekend you don't play him till after the bye. There is really no reason to.

If he doesn't play Sunday we're more than likely going to lose to the Cards. In fact I'll say I have zero confidence that we will be Arizona with Weeden. That's just how I feel.

So you're looking at 6-3.

Then you head to London. I think we can beat the Jags even with Weeden. So there is no reason to risk Romo in that game. I think we could split Weeden's two starts and go into the bye at 7-3.

I could live with that. Obviously 8-2 would be a lot nicer but I don't see how that happens without Romo.

The thing that sucks is that it's going to cost you an extra loss here that would be better to have in your back pocket for some hiccup game later in the year and it's going to make beating a lot of good teams even more so important than before with 3 losses already on the books coming out of the bye.

Now I'm rambling...sorry. Long morning.

Romo should sit. This is why we've built this team relying on the run, so we're not so Romo dependent. If our "stellar" line can't block for Weeden and can't deliver now when we need them, we're dead in the playoffs anyway.
But the Cowboys become that much more dangerous with a healthy Romo come playoff time, assuming it can win the way they've been winning so far.
We need Romo healthy down the stretch. So sit him.
We're either a different team or we're not. Might as well find out now.

... my thought also is he doesn't want to miss this historic season. Remember the quote from Dez "what DeMarco is doing is a big deal to the team". Also there is Jason's job on the line. Then there is what this defense is doing for the offense which Tony has also stated he hasn't been able to rely on in the past. There are so many parameters in play here. But I don't want him out there if he's not firing on all cylinders ... and if they are not going to rely on DeMarco.

One of the reasons our run game has been so unstoppable is because teams fear our QB and receivers. They have to fear our passing game.

Defenses can now cheat on their run defense big time, and dare Weeden to beat them.

Our coaches have to be able to put Weeden into a position to do that.

I would point out that Murray broke a big run, and continued to get chunks of yards while Weeden was in the game when Washington, by all rights, probably should have been fearing the run game and not Weeden.

But I agree with you in principle that I do believe this means people will simply put 8 or 9 in the box and force Weeden to beat them and he's going to have to prove that he can.

Chillax. It's an Internet message board where we deal in hypotheticals all the time.

I believe he can. That play and pass to Witt was sick. My first thought was "see how easy that was Tony".
