I'm loving the game, as I expected I would. Nobody does open world RPG goodness like Bethesda. Thankfully I haven't run into any annoying bugs yet, which are usually what plague their games at launch.

In the favorites menu, click a number while highlighting. Assigns a hotkey.

Uhh no!

How hard is it to push 1 for Flames or 2 for Reanimate Dead or 6 for Bound Battled Axe?

Pretty hard stuff huh? You are a pointer clicker not a keyboard clicker it appears.

Hit Q to bring up your Favorites menu

Make sure the spell you want is highlighted - use your scroll wheel to go up n down - once its highlighted then slect the 1-8 key of which bind key you want to use for it. Set up all your spells this way. - WAHLAH!!! More fun w/ PC SKyrim.

I would eat you alive in the Blizz Arena. :laugh2:

No I just have a heavy disdain for bad interfaces, regardless of "hotkeys".

I'm perfectly fine with the keyboard. I wouldn't type near 130 WPM otherwise.

I'm playing on PC, and while the game doesn't have the greatest interface, it's easy to use, and nowhere near as clunky as many other games I've played. The Witcher's interface was far worse, though that's also a terrific game.

Complaining about the interface of Skyrim stinks of just looking for something to have a problem with. The game is fantastic.

Its unreal how popular this game is so far from the start. My entire office is playing it. All of technicians are useless today because they all stayed up far to late over the weekend battling dragons and becoming better at reanimating corpses. ;)

Regardless of how good the game is, the interface is really poor. It's inconsistent, not well explained, doesn't deliver needed information, and loads more. Someone being able to get used to it does not make it good.

Personally, I think any interface that doesn't let you reset it to how you want, is a failure. Bethesda was just being lazy.

The tale of useless techs is pretty funny though!

It is safe to assume this game is much better than Saints Row the Third?

Its a great game. I wont try and compare it to Saints Row, but I bet my last dollar it beats it x10 in game sales. Its a gorgeous game a real pleasure to play. The ability to go out in the whole game world from the get go and make your way is wonderful. I love that about Skyrim. There really isn't a set do this/do that type of game play in it. You get your main quest line and then all of the side things start appearing as you research and speak w/ folks and encounter instances.

I read last night that there are over 100 dungeon/instance type encounters in the game.

Huge!!

I really really enjoy this game so far. I have about 15 hrs invested since last Friday.

I would suggest the PC version over console. Thats just me.

One issue I have with the game is it occasionally crashes to the desktop. I've probably played around six hours and it's probably done it 3-4 times.

Save early and save often! (F5 key)

I just picked up the game tonight. From what I gather, say goodbye to real life.

I would suggest the PC version because of the potential for user-generated tweaks and content.

I personally have it on PS3 because I don't have a dedicated computer for games. It doesn't really matter which platform you get it for, though, it's worth a play no matter what. Turned it on this evening and looked up and it was 11:30 at night.

Nice, but the guy is an idiot for throwing out insults of other games.

================================================

Good news for Bethesda in wake of the release of Skyrim...

Early sales figures indicate that the game sold 3.4 million copies at retail outlets in just 3 days after release. That does not count digital copies from Steam, which will add another chunk to the already stellar sales figures.

By way of comparison, by this point Oblivion had sold just 600,000 copies, meaning that Skyrim has outstripped it to the tune of some 600% in early sales.

What race is everyone playing?

And why did you pick it?

Never played Elder Scrolls before, but looking into it.

I always play Dunmer (the ashen elves) first time through, probably because I started playing Elder Scrolls with Morrowind, set in their homelands. I like their backstory better than the usual we-so-evil drow/dark elves. It's appropriate here, as the Nords and Dunmer have invaded one another constantly over time.

It could also depend on what style of play you like. If you wanted to be a sword swinging heavy fighter then Nord, Orc, or Redguard would have the best synergy. For magic, Bretons, Dunmer, Altmer are probably best. Thievery? Khajiits or Wood elves; everyone knows you can't trust 'em.

Started playing this game.

Much better than Oblivion.

Got it for PC this time around.

Dual casting Firebolts FTW!

High-Elf Mage. I like more technical play. I learned that quickly from playing MUDs back in the day. Just straight warrior types just wasn't want I enjoyed playing.

Though this far, I cast, swing an axe I got as a gift, use bows, and even use stealth. I'm like a jack of all trades right now.

When Diablo 3 comes out, I've already decided on playing a Witch Doctor first.
