Elliott, The Plodder?

Zeke is still a good back. He however is no longer an elite back. Unfortunately he is being paid as one of the best backs in the league. I truly suspect even if we go deep in the playoffs, he will be gone next season. They let Coop go because he made too much money. Zeke is no different. Just the way it is.

I have been as big of a fan of Elliott as anyone, but it seems as though he is nothing but a big, short yardage plodding back at this point. He doesn’t seem to have the burst anymore to take it to the house on a long run. This fact seems to enable defenders to really stack the box on Elliott.

Anyone else see it this way, or does Moore limit Zeke’s upside by stubbornly running him between the tackles like Garrett? Or is this just game planning to wear defenses down?

Not looking very efficient from my point of view regardless of the reason. I could see Pollard being saved until the post season and then getting the lions share of the touches in the playoffs.

He is certainly not worth the contract we gave him. He's averaging 4.1 YPC which is the second lowest in his career. His longest run is like 23 yards. In fact, he has not had a run over 50 yards since his rookie year. There are no explosive plays coming from him.

I am old enough to remember when Zeke's play used to speak for itself. After the game I would think to myself dang that guy is a monster. Is the the best football player on Earth? Now we are reduced to trying to find a broken tackle in a 75 yard performance that was by far his best of the year.

Without Elliot pounding the rock. Hollyn would not have the yards he’s getting. It’s definitely a team back there. We need Elliot. And I’m not a great fan of his. But I understand the necessity of having him

This…

RB is a game for young fresh legs for the most part. He can still run but dude ain’t the same.

They let Coop go because he put his fear of needles ahead of the team and it cost him two full games. He got paid for being stupid or stubborn. Take your pick. Either way, Jerry didn't like it. Meanwhile Zeke played 12 games with a torn ligament in his knee and repeatedly put himself in harm's way to protect the QB and coached up Pollard and the others guy to help them do what he could no longer do. Zeke's teammates love Zeke.. Zeke's coaches love Zeke. Most importantly, Jerry loves Zeke.. The two (Coop and Zeke) are in no way comparable.

lol. Probably bad timing to complain about Zeke after he just rushed for 6.2 yards per an attempt and was the best thing we had going offensively last night. If he is going to plod for 6.2 yards per carry then I would let him plod all night long.

Different Era, I know, but I'm pretty sure Washington fans didn't complain about John Riggins being slow and plodding and his 3.1 ypc (his SB winning year) -3.6 ypc (his 1st team all pro record setting year). He got first downs and that was the bottom line.

I dont care how slow Zeke is or has become, but 6.2 ypc will matriculate the ball down the field every time. I dont care how fast he does it, its just the fact he does it.

4.1 on the season. No long runs.

Zeke isn't getting a lot of long runs when 80% of his totes are right into the teeth of the defense. That's not how this works. At least not if the line isn't getting any movement, which in most cases it isn't. Zeke is having to bang out a ton of his yards on his own. He is the hammer that softens the defense up for Pollard and keeps them from coming after the QB with impunity. It's not sexy but he has accepted that role with grace.. why can't we?

Pollard is running behind the same guys. He is the faster and more explosive rb and its pretty obvious. Zeke is a shadow of the rb he was in 2016 and this is probably his last year in Dallas.

Believe Pollard is a FA too.

To be honest it might be both of their last years if Pollards ask is too high.

I’d sign a mid market FA and draft a RB in the mid rounds and we’ll be fine if we continue to focus on the OL.

+1 well said.

He has lost a few steps that's for sure. Clearly not as explosive as he once was. That said they need to do a much better job getting him the ball is space. Zeke rarely makes it to the second level but if he did he would wear out the secondary. Moore is such a dummy you would think he'd see that and give Zeke 4/5 chances in space every game. Stop always running him up the gut.

He looks for contact all the time, he's never trying to avoid it. I can't wait to see what another back can do with the carries, #23 or #34 you'll see a difference in the running styles, then you'll be able to see why we pass so much!!!

Guess we will know next year.
