Not sure why Four's getting hammered in this thread. I happen to think he's wrong, but he's not way out of line to stick up for a longtime Cowboy.
I've been a pretty firm supporter of Greg Ellis. I don't like that he's gone, and I'm concerned about OLB depth. That said, this interview started off ok with him saying he regrets we didn't get it done when he thought we were close, he laments the distractions caused by the hype last year. Then in the middle of the interview, he veers into a thinly veiled vent on the decisions Jerry and the organization made to phase him out last year. He makes it pretty clear that there was a cabal in the locker room that was dissatisfied with some of the decisions that were made and that he and TO were a part of that group, and that there were players in the group that resented the attention Tony Romo gets in the press. It's the kind of dysfunctional rant you expect to hear when a once solid business relationship gets personal.
Pretty clearly Greg's pride was hurt last year and he's got some hostility pent up. I think he's trying to keep it in check but he wasn't very successful today. It's also pretty clear that it's best for the team at this point for him to be playing elsewhere. And he did come off as a bit of a whiney *****. They guy was on vacation and made a bad decision to call into a radio talk show where he aired some sour grapes. I bet he's regretting it right now, but it is what it is.
The stuff on Spencer, though, I don't get why anyone is pissed about. Spencer flat blew the play in question, and there really isn't any doubt about that. Greg probably should not have let himself get trapped into talking about it, and he should have had the sense to just 'no comment' and give Anthony some general props, but the guy did blow the play.
