Ellis says D.Ware hid from coaches...w/audio Post#77

I know it didn't, but I don't think the question was ever how did it affect Ware's play. The issue is whether Ware tried to take himself out for Ellis'es benefit. Maybe Ware was tired and needed a break, it wouldn't be a bad idea to give him some extra rest occasionaly.
Or maybe Ware had enough of Greg's sulking and complaining on the sideline and offered to let him take his place.

Tru dat.

Just like T.O., the time for him to go had definitely come.
Everything he said was about we would have won if he had been used more.

The Cowboys have used him quite a bit over the past decade, and they haven't won jack.

Maybe this team needs an infusion of new leadership.

Yep. After listening to the audio, I have a poor opinion about Ellis. Too many players do what is asked and do it without going to the media to complain about it like Greg did. He whined when 34-32 wanted to switch him from DE to OLB. He whined about getting paid. He sat out games because of his demand for more money despite having an insurance policy in place. I also remember him throwing Spencer under the bus after the Ravens game.

Now he pulls this? I'm not going to call your wife ugly and fat, but she's ugly, fat and a slut. Since it's my opinion as Greg Ellis, I'm entitled to it. Had I been around more, your wife would be beautiful, correctly proportional in weight to height ratio, and she'd wake up every morning a virginal maiden.

I cannot agree with Four in any regard within this thread.

That squid has never won a playoff game and he has the grapefruits to think he is the difference between wins and losses?

Those facts would be accurate if Ellis said Ware actually did take himself out of the game for whatever reasons, then Ellis would totally look like a complete idiot. But that isn't what he is saying. He is only saying Ware tried to take himself out, but it is clear it never actually happened. But like I said, we don't know since we weren't there.

So Ellis did not say this?

"It's a disgrace when DeMarcus Ware comes off the field just so I can get in the game and when the coaches tell him to come on the field, he tries to hide so I can play."

Hos, have you ever thought about applying for a coaching position with the Cowboys?:D

I got to tell you, I enjoyed coaching High School, but not college. I can't even imagine the pressure the pros have. I would love to be a scout for the Cowboys and have thought about applying for that regarding the Pac-10. I'd do it for free if they paid travel expenses. Films, interviews, stills, whatever they needed I would do.

That's my dream job. I love that kind of stuff.

you would make a good gopher, I'm sure

Eh, fun thread.

Four, you've stated that perhaps Greg Ellis is just being honest about the things that went on, that he's not trying to bash anyone.

Maybe the posters who you believe to be targeting you are simply displaying the same honesty Greg did.

I'd work for free breaking down game tape. I do a little of it during our first few preseason games for certain players but TV angles pull major vacuum.

Wow as soon as my account finally gets activated the fun flaming goes away!

Well he was the best defensive end in the 1998 draft unfortunately maybe he's allowed himself to believe that since he was selected before Randy Moss he is a more valuable athlete than Moss as well.

Not sure why Four's getting hammered in this thread. I happen to think he's wrong, but he's not way out of line to stick up for a longtime Cowboy.

I've been a pretty firm supporter of Greg Ellis. I don't like that he's gone, and I'm concerned about OLB depth. That said, this interview started off ok with him saying he regrets we didn't get it done when he thought we were close, he laments the distractions caused by the hype last year. Then in the middle of the interview, he veers into a thinly veiled vent on the decisions Jerry and the organization made to phase him out last year. He makes it pretty clear that there was a cabal in the locker room that was dissatisfied with some of the decisions that were made and that he and TO were a part of that group, and that there were players in the group that resented the attention Tony Romo gets in the press. It's the kind of dysfunctional rant you expect to hear when a once solid business relationship gets personal.

Pretty clearly Greg's pride was hurt last year and he's got some hostility pent up. I think he's trying to keep it in check but he wasn't very successful today. It's also pretty clear that it's best for the team at this point for him to be playing elsewhere. And he did come off as a bit of a whiney *****. They guy was on vacation and made a bad decision to call into a radio talk show where he aired some sour grapes. I bet he's regretting it right now, but it is what it is.

The stuff on Spencer, though, I don't get why anyone is pissed about. Spencer flat blew the play in question, and there really isn't any doubt about that. Greg probably should not have let himself get trapped into talking about it, and he should have had the sense to just 'no comment' and give Anthony some general props, but the guy did blow the play.

What's funny about it, or maybe ironic about this thread. Is that a few guys are arguing about Greg and partly his whining, but mainly him "throwing Anthony under the bus"

Meanwhile, Cowboy fans are throwing members of their own ilk under the bus.
