As a long time fan of the Cowboys, Emmitt is my least favorite Cowboy ever..he didn't know when to quit and his ego thought he was better than he was for the last 5 years of his career.

No respect to show.
He's a moron. He always was a moron. It's why his career as an analyst was so brief. We were all dumber for listening to him.

But Jane trying to lecture us on a men's locker room takes the cake. She doesn't have the slightest clue of what she's talking about.

Coming from a man that lived it. Maybe they can still figure something out. I have no doubts if he stayed he would be more productive than last years banged up year. Maybe he is just going to get injured every year, but I would have kept him with an injury escape hatch. Work out some numbers. They made it sound like they never even made an offer to him. Perhaps a back room convo telling him to test the FA waters and see what he gets offered. I think the same is happening with Shultz. Elliot maybe back yet still. I sure wouldn’t go into the season with a Pollard coming off a broken leg and Davis. Or even a Pollard and draft pick.

Appreciate and respect everything Emmitt did as a player and steward of the game during his playing days.

However, I frequently have disagreed with his views since his retirement, and this is just another case. He represents the player perspective with passion, and he should given he was one of the best to put on a uniform. Often though, he doesn’t separate his emotion from the business side of the sport.

Thanks to all who wear the Star but I’m not going to shed a tear for people making millions of dollars for playing a sport and have to be told when financially they don’t fit and/or aren’t capable of living up to a contract.

If I was paid comparable dollars in my career position to what Zeke got paid as a RB, I justifiably would have been kicked to the curb some time ago for lack of performance.

I prefer to try to respect the opinions of others instead of trashing them so I’ll politely disagree with Emmitt and move on to the next post. But, if you play the trashing game, I see no need to hold back on your comments as I place no more credence on Emmitt’s OPINION than I do anyone else’s in this room.

It was an easy call, I like Zeke, but I agreed with the move....still no reason for some to be talking crap about Emmitt for stating his opinion. The same ones that get butt hurt for being called out are the first ones to talk crap.
True. 22 is my fave. He can say whatever he wants!

He only got the rushing record by holding back the team's success for his own individual success, and the record.

I'll never have any respect for Emmitt or his record.
You do realize we haven’t had any success since he left? I’m not sure he was holding anything back.

Emmitt Smith is the last person who should comment on this issue. He stayed here three years too long.

Go away, Emmitt. Back to your trash pile.
Emmitt thinks with his heart and sees it from the player’s perspective. Not the first time or the last. Plus he’s talking about his old position. However, Emmitt is legend. How any moron, let alone a supposed Cowboy fan, would say he should go back to his trash pile. You’re the only trash around here, Dude. And the horse you rode in on. Yah, I said it.

Anyone who looks to professional athletes for advice or as role models is a fool. They are just regular people with their flaws other than being really, really good at their chosen sport.

Emmitt is, was and always will be one of my favorite players to watch. I'm not going to put a lot of weight on his financial opinions just like I don't try to model my personal life after Michael Irvin.

It's a business and a competition.

Don't keep players just cause you like them.

They gotta produce and be in the best interests of competitiveness long term. At this point, that ain't Zeke.

Lol!! No our "fans" are turning against a guy that helped us win 3 superbowls! Lol!!
Whatever makes you happy! Being miserable must be an in thing, now....

Maybe two years too long but not three years. He had just over 1200 yards and 9 TDs in 2000. He wasn’t about to get released after that season especially with Troy Aikman just being released. He still had a 1000 yard season the following year but you could see the numbers were dwindling. I really don’t understand why you sound so bitter toward him. He was one of the greatest players in the history of the franchise and was the main reason the Cowboys won three Super Bowls in the 90s. You must be one of those that’s still upset about his diamond among trash comment.
The offensive line, the recievers and defense had a lot to do with winning those championships too And of course, Jimmy johnson.

It seems likely to me that Zeke wasn't willing to take the kind of cut that the FO felt was appropriate. He made more money than he should have during his time with the Cowboys. It's hard to feel sorry for him because he could have accepted what was offered. He'd didn't feel sorry for the team when his contract came due in the past. It seems fair to me that such a turnaround is fair play. It's not payback, just sound business. Emmitt isn't his business manager -- not sure what compels him to get involved.
