Never been one to go along with this "America's Team" stuff, but how, exactly, does those things you mention make Pittsburgh "America's Team"? A cohesive team? Yes. America's Team? No.

I do believe Pitt has about a close a claim to being "America's Team" as any other team NOT the Dallas Cowboys. They do have a big fan base across America. With them now having more Superbowl victories than any other team now, they will become even more popular.

But follow the money (Jersey sales, etc.) and you will see who the most popular team really is. Maybe for the next month or two, Pitt sales will rank up top because of the Superbowl win. But after that, I'd put my money on the Cowboys again, even with the current "apparant" shambles of a team they are right now.

As another pointed out, being "America's Team" has nothiong to do with how well an organization is run. It is really about popularity. And the Cowboy's have that in spades even now.

The Steelers can be "the NFL's best-run team" (which is debateable). That doesn't make them America's Team.
