Gonna throw this out there.. if a person is older than you, and you refer to them as "kid", you sound foolish. Not sure if you're worried about that though, based on the rest of this thread.

Just a heads up..kid. ;)

Why am i not supried you of all people decided to join in this thread when the word "kid" came up :laugh2:

Im no expert in NBA....I watch a little...but is Howard really a "once in a generation center"?

I dont know....I always thought he was a glorified rebounder and a presence as a defender......But he isnt that great of a scorer. imho...doesnt really create any shots....a pretty pathetic at the FT line too.

I know he puts up points in this poor center NBA league.....but I just dont see him as a once in a generation type of center......JMHO tho :)

He's easily the best center the game has seen since Shaq in his prime. His defensive impact on the game is off the charts. You take any advance stats that include defensive metrics like WS48 and he's among the Top 5 players in the league. Before last year's debacle, he led the league in defensive win shares four years in a row. Let's put it this way .. .there are maybe only 4-5 players that can carry a team on their back and make a 30 win difference. Many guys considered "superstars" don't fit into this category. Deron Williams couldn't carry his teammates to anything more than a lottery team last year. Dwight Howard has taken a Magic team to back to back 59 win seasons and an ECF with JJ Reddcik and Rashard Lewis as his best supporting players.

Does Bynum to Philly make them a serious threat to be the 2nd best team in the East this year? Remember, Rose probably isn't playing most of this year.

Have to see how they Gel, I.E. what Bynum shows up, but yeah. If the Bynum of 2011-2012 shows up, then yeah. I think that's an argument that can be made.

Yeah Sixers are gonna be much improved. Don't think they're better than Boston though.

You mean the team we took to 7 games and barely beat us in the semifinals last year to go on to face Miami?

Oh yea..

Well Boston didn't stand pat either. They added Jason Terry, Courtney Lee, Fab Melo, and Jared Sullinger. Plus they will get Jeff Green back.

Compare those 4 or 5 to:

Jason Richardson, Nick Young, Dorell Wright, Arnett Moultrie, and Bynum.

I'd say we upgraded much more than they did.

We'll see. I think Philly will be very good just not sure they'll be 2nd best. At worst they're 3rd. That'd be awesome if they surprised everybody and won the East.

The rich get richer. Nothing new. Nothing is a guaranteed anyway.Yankees of the NBA. Im actually surprised the NBA allowed this trade considering how deep they go into the luxury tax. They also have Zero bench.

Nash >>>>> Chalmers
Kobe > Wade
World Peace <<<<< LeBron
Pau > Bosh
Dwight >>>>> Anthony

Lakers > Miami.

I think if Wade and Kobe are both healthy, then at this point the scales would either tip in Wade's favor or it would be a wash. I also think ALOT of people would take Chris Bosh over Pau Gasol right now, you never know where Pau "Charmin soft" Gasol is mentally.

Lebron would hands down be the best player on the court, playing free and with all the confidence in the world. In order for the Lakers to win Kobe would have to take over games in the series which i don't think he's capable of doing at this point of his career, especially if Wade or Lebron is checking him for 7 games.

Also OKC still might be better than the Lakers, Durant-Westbrook-Harden are all still getting better and trending upwards, while the lakers are still an aging team with a closing window that's been extended only be a couple of years tops.

Nice move by the Lakers, got to give them credit for being aggressive and trying to retool.

I also love what the Nuggets got in this deal, it took them less then 2 years to rebuild from the Melo trade. They arent contenders, but I love what their GM is doing.

How the heck they traded away a once in a generation center away

there were what, 4 centers in the mid to late 80's/early 90s better than Howard so he isn't a once in a generation talent.

Shaq
Hakeem

Who else? Kareem wasn't in his prime during the 80's. Maybe Ewing.
