I hated seeing Philly lose Harkless.....I liked what I saw from this kid. That being said....I was tired of Iguadala game.......and hated that contract.

Yeah, I think Philly had to move Iguadala. I don't really think they had any choice there. I too like Harkless but, that trade is a much, much better deal for Philly IMO. They got a heck of a good Center in exchange for moving a bad contract, giving up a good little player in Harkless and a draft pick. That's a good deal to me.

I remember it just fine. Most brutal loss as a Lakers fan.

Let's see that was in June of 2004. So I was 9 about to turn 10 in September.

I started watching in basketball when I was about 5. Same with football.

Not really surprised if Lakers fans don't agree

That's fair but it's also fair to point out that all of these teams came out better on this deal. They didn't bend over backwards to make a good trade for the Lakers. They all acted on a trade that improved all of their respective clubs. That's just the truth of the matter as I see it.

If I were the Magic, I would have easily taken the Rockets trade over this one. Heck, I would have taken the Nets offer, and I'm not a big Brooks Lopez guy at all. How the heck they traded away a once in a generation center away for a package that doesn't include anyone even approaching All Star caliber talent OR someone eating the Turkoglu contract OR any unprotected draft picks in return is mindboggling.

Im no expert in NBA....I watch a little...but is Howard really a "once in a generation center"?

I dont know....I always thought he was a glorified rebounder and a presence as a defender......But he isnt that great of a scorer. imho...doesnt really create any shots....a pretty pathetic at the FT line too.

I know he puts up points in this poor center NBA league.....but I just dont see him as a once in a generation type of center......JMHO tho :)

So the Lakers forming the Justice League to try and stop the impending Heat dynasty huh. OKC still beats them in a 7 game series imo

Philly could have just gone after Howard directly, i don't really see LA's contributions to this whole thing as much more then grabbing the best player and dumping the guy he replaces and Philly basically having to settle for their scraps

If anyone but the Lakers wanted Howard he would have played out his deal in Orlando, this league is set up to bennefit teams like the Lakers at the expense of everyone else. We see this story repeat it self over and over again and it's always the same 3-4 teams

Yeah, they could have but they couldn't do that until they unloaded Iguadala's contract and that was not proving to be easy. Philly has been trying to trade him all summer and besides that, they could not guarantee that Bynum would not have signed elsewhere or, and I think this more likely, Bynum would not have extended with L.A., which would have almost been a sure thing had they not worked out a trade for Howard. I think it's less then safe to say that Philly could have landed Bynum had they waited.

I honestly don't see LA's contributions to this trade at all Denver took Igudala off philly's hands and LA just swoops inn grabs the best player and dumps the 2nd best on them.

Not to mention the Magic, this wasn't even the best offer they had this summer. They turned down better but since it's the Lakers they settle for less then they could have had by trading him somewhere else.

This whole trade reaks

:laugh2: @ people acting like we were gifted Dwight. You people do realize we gave up Andrew Bynum who is the second best center/big in the game right?

Like I said earlier I'm happy we got Dwight and it was without question the right move, but I'm really gonna miss Andrew Bynum. He is one of my favorite players and had really grown on me over the years. I will be rooting for him in Philly heavily. Kid has loads of potential. Just got a little maturing to do and if he does that than he'll be a great and dominant player in this league.

Gonna throw this out there.. if a person is older than you, and you refer to them as "kid", you sound foolish. Not sure if you're worried about that though, based on the rest of this thread.

Just a heads up..kid. ;)
