i still think the lakers should move gasol for multiple younger, athletic pieces for depth.

Hell no. Pau is one of the best bigs in the game and will flourish with Nash and Howard. The Lakers don't need to add anymore pieces. As currently constructed we're the best team in the NBA. This team has no weaknesses. We've got great defense with guys like Howard, World Peace, Bryant, and Hill. We're also probably gonna add Martin. We've got alot of offensive firepower with guys like Bryant, Nash, Gasol, Jamison, and Howard. We've got shooting with guys like Bryant, Nash, Meeks, and Jamison. With the additions of Jamison and Meeks we now have a decent bench.

Anyways I don't understand why people say Howard has no offensive game. That's a bunch of BS. You can't be a career 20 & 10 player and have no offensive game. Is he a little limited as far as low post moves go? Sure, but it's not like he has no low post game. It's decent just not great. He has a nice little hook shot and is solid with either hand. His incredible athleticism more than makes up for his somewhat limited low post game.

He's a freak athlete. He's like a huge reciever in football that you just throw the ball up to and he'll go and get it. Nash and Kobe will be throwing lobs to Dwight all day. He's terrific in pick and roll. That's why him and Nash will do so well together. Dwight is like a more athletic and great defensive and rebounding version of Amare Stoudamire. The Lakers offense next season will be unstoppable.

OKC is the only team that stands a chance against us because of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Miami simply doesn't have the size to guard Dwight Howard. Steve Nash will run circled around Chalmers. The Lakers are strong where they're weak which is at center and point guard. Only advantage Miami would have over us is LeBron. With Dwight in the middle LeBron will be forced to shoot jump shots. He shot only 39 percent against Dwight last season. Expect more of that in the Finals.

LeBron is not an advantage because inside the Lakers have a clear advantage.

And for the record (RE: your ratings previously)

Kobe >>> Wade. (Not just >).
Wade hurt is out of the game, Kobe hurt is playing through it. Kobe has a better post game and a better jumper. Defensively they are almost even, and Wade has a speed advantage.

:D

Pau sucks.

both you and C&LF are overstating reality. Pau certainly doesnt suck, but he isnt nearly as good as he was 2 years ago, he has regressed, and he will continue to go downhill, thats why the lakers should trade him now, his stock wont get much higher. he has truly sucked in the olympics.

Kobe has sucked in the Olympics should we deal him as well?

He's not as good as he used to be, but he's still a terrific player. Playing next to Dwight will help him immensly.

kobe has sucked because he is a volume guy, he needs to control the ball and shoot a lot, he has to get in rhythm, he is like allen iverson, he isnt very effective offensively on super teams because he cant dominate the ball.

pau has sucked because he is getting old and declining. spain made their big run vs france with him on the bench. playing with howard isnt going to change that. a better argument would be that playing with nash will help him. but playing with nash would help anyone they get offensively.

Kobe is getting old and declining as well, but he's still a great player. So is Pau. Having Dwight is by far the best defensive anchor in the league will help Pau out immensly because he has no defensive pressure on him basically. If someone blows by him so what? He's got Dwight right behind him to back him up. Offensively Pau becomes the go to guy in the post again because Dwight as he's already said will focus more on defense and rebounding. Nash and Dwight will both help Pau.

difference with kobe and pau declining is that pau isnt a physical freak like kobe is, i doubt pau spends his free time working out, shooting jumpers, and working on his game. just my opinion, if i was the lakers GM, id sell high on pau and get depth.

i guess we will just have to agree to disagree on pau

I guess we will. ;)

I wouldn't be against trading Pau if we got a great deal in return. Problem is all the offers we got sucked. If a great deal does present itself then the FO will consider trading him.

Surprised. All these Centers not one of you named Bill Russell or Wilt Chaimberlain.

Why feel sorry for the Magic? They screwed themselves just like Cleveland. They got team players and three 1st rd picks. Back to the drawing board Orlando. Next time you get the best Center in the league, build around him. 2 strikes now before Disney buys the entire team stock and fires everyone.

they said 80s and 90s that is why those two were not mentioned.

Pau sucks.

the troll crawls out from under his bridge yet again to spew his garbage.

Pau is a very talented big man. He is quite soft, but the guy can score and is a very opportunistic rebounder. He was definitely the catalyst that helped Kobe and the Lakers get their last 2 rings.

Yes he's the most skilled big. He can shoot the jumpshot at very efficient rate, can pass the ball like a guard, and a terrific lowpost game.

The lakers pulled off a robbery; plain and simple. Their lack of depth is still appalling but they have the best first 5 in basketball provided everyone is healthy. The NBA vetoed CP3 but allowed this trade? LOL. Anyone who saw the Magic taking back first rounder 4 and 5 years from now is Nostradamus. That is unheard of. They got a far worse trade than what Houston offered. Worse even then what Brooklyn put forth. It's insane.

Pau is soft but soft and skilled paired with Dwight is plenty OK. Kobe is a dimming superstar but he still has ice water in his veins and the desire to dominate and win.

The questions start if one of the "stars" get injured and how they look going forward.

Pau dominated stretches today but one rake across the face and he went to sleep in the defining moments.

BTW, Pau is no where near as skilled as Dirk. He is stronger in the low post but doesn't compare in the face up game. In fact the entire reason Pau's reputation nose-dived was because Dirk crucified him 2 years ago in the playoff series.

End of the day Lakers fan enjoy this 2 year run because once it is over it will be very hard to field a competitive team around Dwight. Once Kobe and Nash fade the cap cash isn't there to add a star and they'll not be able to do any S&T after this season.

Once again you have no idea what you're talking about. After the 2013-2014 season Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol both expire. The Lakers will have aton of cap space to bring another star to Los Angeles to pair with Dwight.

He has not averaged 20 points per game for his career. His career scoring average is 18.4. He has topped 20 ppg 4 times during his first 8 years in the league.

Howard Expected To Miss Beginning Of Season

Howard_Dwight_lal_120810.jpg

Dwight Howard is expected to miss the beginning of the 12-13 season as he recovers from his April back surgery, according to multiple sources.

"My health is great," Howard said. "I'm getting a lot better and a lot stronger every day. I'm looking forward to the doctor saying you are free to play. I can't wait for that day."

During their Friday press conference, both Howard and Mitch Kupchak were optimistic that he could return before the opener.

"We'll see what the doctor says," Howard said. "If I'm ready for opening night I'll be there but I'm not going to rush it. A back is very serious, so I'm going to take my time and make sure I'm 100 percent because I want to give everybody 100 percent. I want to give everybody everything I have."

"We feel very assured that he's going to be back," Kupchak said. "We're hopeful he's back for camp, we're hopeful he's back to start the season, but we know he's going to be back and playing at a high level at some point in time."
