We shall see what it becomes on the football field over the next several years. So far it is being recognized as one of the top four or five QB's in the league today. It is being recognized as the first QB in Saints history to lead them to a first round bye and the NFC championship game. It is being recongized as being the first Saints QB to win 13 games and pass for over 5000 yards.

But, mostly, in the city of New Orleans he has a much bigger legacy, win or lose. If you do not live there you cannot understand the impact he has had on the community.
so why won't we see what Romo's becomes? you said a loss would further cement Romo's legacy.

Because that of being a chocker is his current perception to the casual fan. The same casual fan sees Brees as a winner. Sure, it may not seem fair, but it is reality. That simple little playoff win means a great deal.

the casual fan's opinion means jack ****. Romo and Brees' legacy's are still to be determined. Romo hasn't done anything yet except put up good numbers. Brees is the same except he has 1 playoff win.

It's not because of that one playoff win. If Romo wins one playoff game and loses the next, the pressure will not be off of him. Ask Danny White.

What means a great deal is the Cowboys are a high profile, high pressure, highly scrutinzed team with expectations to win. The Saints are a lovable loser franchise who are a feel good story.

So if Romo chokes away his team's chance at the playoffs the way Brees did last year in the Tampa Bay and Chicago games, it's the feature story on Sportscenter every night ... not swept under the rug. And if the Cowboys were sputtering as badly as the Saints currently are after a great first half of the season, it's "OHMGZZ THE COWBOYS ARE CHOKING!!" not "Oh well, the Saints have nothing to play for so it's not a big deal."

A media indoctrinated perception. Sadly, the casual fan, like the casual observer, either lacks the intelligence to discern this fact, or they simply hold preconceived biases that allow them to accept this notion and not critically assess it because they most likely do not like, or possibly even despise, the team that he is a part of. That's about it.

Werder is consumed by losing.

the sports shows on all the channels show his 4th quarter interception against the Giants in the playoffs as if it were some terrible mistake that blew the game. They don't ever bother to mention that it was 4th and 10 with 15 seconds to go and no timeouts.
Whatever suits your needs I guess.

no kidding, that irritates the **** out of me everytime I see them show this video and imply it was an awful play

So basically... Ed Werder had nothing to write about, so he tried to tarnish another Cowboy. Go figure...

But very real, nonetheless.

No, it's not just the playoff win. It's also the Carrie Underwood and the Jessica Simpson and all the buy in to the hype. Romo, in part, set himself up on this uber-visible pedestal from which he was so easily knocked. It is the billion dollar stadium. It is the massive self-promotion of the Cowboys that is the enabler.

Once again, fair or unfair, what is ... is.

True. That may be the explanation. Why, I have no idea. But I am sure there are those that are that shallow.

Peyton Manning lost his first THREE playoff games before winning one. So apparently it's not all doom and gloom.

Huh....This is Romo's 3rd full season with us and he's gotten us division titles and a chance at the playoffs two of them.

McNabb has had a decade with the Eagles to attain what is apparently unattainable for the franchise, that ever-elusive Super Bowl victory. He has not.

Seems to me that it is the latter, and not the former, with everything to lose. I want them to win so bad I can taste it, but IF...and that is a very big if...they don't, I really don't feel there is cause for panic re: Romo. He's playing the best football of career, and has given no reason to believe that he'll do anything but improve.

Didnt Peyton lose like 6 out of his first 7 or 8 playoff games???

The guy had the label of playoff choker for the longest, kinda like how Romo does now.
