The question is how many of those games were on prime time i.e. MNF or SNF? Im guessing most of his late game ints happened on prime time (2012
Dec game against skins, late game int to Revis SNF).

I haven't been critical of Romo as of late because he's been playing really well (although Washington of last year has caused me to lose a little faith in him).

But I don't think KJJ is trying to create a new stat.

Romo has engineered 20 game winning drives. However, a bulk majority of those games was not seen in the "national spotlight" which is what KJJ may be refering to. For example, the game winning drive against Minnesota last week. That wasn't a nationally televised game, therefore the public and their perception cannot be swayed because it didn't happen [since they are unaware]. But if Romo has a game winning drive tonight, in primetime when everyone is watching, their perception has the ability to change, although I don't think it will just because of how he's already perceived.

So if Romo were to throw a "gut wrenching pick" or whatever you want to call it tonight, the nationally perception is reinforced because it was a game everyone saw. People will reference the Minnesota game rightfully so but its irrelevant to some because not everyone saw that game.

The game in Washington last year really hurt Romo's perception, whether its fair or not. I was in Sao Paulo Brazil that weekend and the game was nationally televised in Brazil which is UNHEARD OF. Romo threw a pick to seal the game and all the brazilians down there think he's a choke artist now (had a difficult time defending Romo in Portuguese to my girl). They aren't aware of his 20 game winning drives because none of those were nationally televised.

Do I think its fair? Of course not. But I think I see where KJJ is coming from.

Most if Romo's choke moments have come against teams with winning records. Another stat that has to be considered is the number of comebacks that he has had against teams with winning records. I haven't looked it up, but would guess that it is a very telling stat. These big games that he has blew has been in the national spotlight against winning teams.

It is the stupidest thing I have heard and that is saying something.

Well, when someone continues down a narrow path and has to keep re-classifying and changing specifics in an attempt to keep his proclaimed position afloat, eventually he will expose himself for the troll that he is to even those who were dumb enough to go along with it in the beginning. Trolls always sink themselves. Its just a matter of time. Even if that troll is a self proclaimed master debater with 8 million followers online, the self exposure happens.

From last November: http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.co...-clutch-adjusted-for-strength-schedule/18941/

At that point Romo was 6-18 against .500 or better. Not that surprising when looking at that list. Right there around Rivers, Flacco and Brees for winning %. The surprising thing is the "elite" QB at the very bottom.

There is no doubt that Romo and the team has not been able to win against the better teams in the league. When Romo has attempted comebacks against these teams, the failures have been epic. It is not that he fails, it is how he fails with the turnovers that gives him a bad reputation. It always seems to be in front if a national TV audience at the worst possible times.

Who is bringing up this "sporllight" crap again?

It is not Romo's fault that all of his games are not nationally televised. The games he does win might not be on MNF or SNF but it does not mean those games are irrelevant. Just because Romo may lose on a national game and win others on local games does not mean a damn thing. He does not control the schedule.

Maybe the NFL should make Romo play every game in the national stage to get a better judgement of him. But seeing him lose on a big stage means nothing in terms of how his whole career has gone. He may lose tonight on a national stage, but if he wins the next few non national games, the haters are just going to remember tonights game, if the team loses.

Right, and no one else give him credit for the wins that are not in national TV. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.

And yet, statistically, he's actually playing well in these games, too.

The turnovers come when he's intentionally taking risks he ordinarily avoids. This is what you're supposed to do if you're still in the game and the only plays to be made are risky ones. Overall, his numbers--in terms of completions %, TDs, INTs, and 4th quarter games won--speak for themselves.

The reason why this team loses games to good teams is because we can't stop good QBs. The evidence to support this is pretty clear, but it's easier to blame a figurehead like a QB or a HC than it is to recognize and support addressing the factors that actually cause us to lose the games. I'm not sure why that is, but it's the case here at CZ, for sure.

The hilarious part is how people "know all to well" how Romo has failed in LOL "spotlight" games but have no clue how the defense played or worse ignore how the defense played as if the defense is an innocent bystander.

If I believed a 10th of what the Romo haters believe about Romo I would never ever invest a premium draft pick or a premium salary on a defensive player again. Totally irrelevant. The funniest thing is my experience with Romo haters is that they are also Jerry Jones haters because he is clueless as a GM and hires puppet coaches...but Tony Romo should erase all that ineptness and just win baby. Ok got it.

The teams that he pulls these comebacks on are teams with losing records for the most part. The game is not televised because it it not two top teams playing. A comeback against the Vikings is not as impressive as a comeback against a team like the Saints. The point being is that Romo has some comebacks against teams with losing records, but he has struggled making the comebacks against the teams with winning records. Actually, his record is not good at winning games against the better teams ,comeback or not. For the record, I am not saying all of it is on him, but he has turned the ball over several times in comeback attempts against these good teams and it resulted in losing.

Thats because those games against the good teams are nationally televised spotlight games and Romo knows more people are watching.

And, not all of Romo's wins are against scrub teams. They get paid to play the game just like any other player. It is not Romo's fault that the schedules time and place, are beyond his control. But, if that is how you feel about the guy, all I can say is, hate on, bro, hate on. Don't take into account his teammates, just hate on Romo.

I agree that the defense doesn't help him much, but that is no excuse for his turnovers against these teams. It is not his job to turn the ball over in risky situations. As for his stats in these games, it doesn't tell the whole story much of the time. It really doesn't help to play good in these games and turn the ball over in the last few minutes to give the game away.

We beat Rams but that isn't a spotlight game, just a trash game, not worth even thinking about it or talking about it.

Rams beat Colts and that is a spotlight game.

Get it?

The only risky situations where he messes up is when he is trying to win a friggen game that the defense cannot keep a lead. Why is that so hard to understand.

Believe me, if the Cowboys could go up say 21 to 10 in with 5 minutes to go and the defense can hold that lead, Romo will not make those mistakes.

And yet, that's just what happens when you're in a position to go to the well too often. Stay out of those positions, and the team's exceptional QB play pays off more often than it does currently.

Yea, that was a trash game when the Rams had their starter at QB, but this Rams team today is a different team. Havent you seen the run they have been on lately? :D

If K. Clemens had played against the Cowboys, Romo would have choked and lost the game, then it would be a friggin spotlight game, damn it!

It is not hate. It is silly to make that accusation. Romo has choked against several teams that had winning records. These choke jobs were on the big stage in front of a national TV audience for the most part. Is it hate to simply state facts? It is not bashing when it is the truth. You don't like it, but it happened several times.
