What are your thoughts Zoners?
So do you think an extension should be based on a single game or his entire body of work since he arrived? After his late-season playcalling, I wouldn't be giving Linehan an extension.

Ah yes. The Jerry Jones argument.I think an extension should be earned, and not given.
I'll ask you, how many coordinators could have succeeded given the offensive talent that Linehan had to work with? How truly difficult was his job? How many offenses around the league had the sheer talent that Dallas did?
This could be countered easily with how many OCs win thirteen games with a rookie QB?I think an extension should be earned, and not given.

Any one of 500 coaches could have coached this offense.
If the stories are true that it was Linehan that really wanted Prescott last year, should he get credit for that?

As for the playcalling, Shanahan's kid had bad playcalls that cost them the SB and that did not tarnish his reputation.
So surrounding talent only works when it's used to minimize Prescott's performance, is that it?
The guy had a steak on every plate for his offense and the best line in the league, by far. It would take work to screw that up. Like getting pass happy.
Shanahan had weapons like Ryan, Freeman, Julio Jones etc. and he did the same thing and lost a Super Bowl after getting a 21 point lead.
I guess the 49ers were fools for hiring him as head coach?
Had our toothless defense not spotted Green Bay a nice lead, there is no way Dallas would pass as much as they did.
Exactly right. You prove my point. Thanks. .
I proved your point how? You are the one saying he had steaks on every plate. Shanahan had two good backs, superior QB, superior number 1 WR. So you are saying the tipping point is the OL? The one with Doug Free who people feel is complete garbage?
Had Linehan repeatedly gone pass crazy with a big lead (like Garrett has in the past), I could see where you are coming from.
He's not the best OC in the league, but to pretend he is just terrible is silly.
It is not like we are talking about Jason Garrett when he was an OC.
Very few.I'll ask again, what offensive coordinator had more overall talent to work with?
Does that "credit" include a 'get-out-of-jail-free' card for life? I know it's great to automatically assume that the guys who couldn't get out of their own way at QB in 2015 suddenly get all credit for Dak Prescott, but a good deal of credit goes to the player himself.
But I'm fine with giving Linehan credit for "wanting Prescott", but I also blame him for getting pass-happy and getting away from Elliott and the running game. It's possible to do both.
