The problem, and reason, with playing your highest paid players making millions a year is what if they get injured. Lose your starting QB and you’re probably not going win many games. Lose one of those 30 million dollar WR’s and you’re not going to have a great year. Lose your #1 RB, ditto.

IMO, they should get at least a half of work in game 2 of preseason.

This team needs to give up on the never playing starters in the pre season thing.

I get not playing the aging QB, but starters in their early 20s? Get them snaps.

You take on some level of injury risk, but that’s better than dropping a few games at the beginning of the season because you have no idea what’s going on.

I could understand them being very cautious on Offense; but on D?
7 new starters at least; a brand new INEXPERIENCED DC. AND a new System
and you do not try and play them as a unit for at least a quarter or so?

It was obvious that they should have played their defensive starters in the preseason for a bit given they were running an entirely different style of defense. Further, Parker likely needed some game time himself to get a feel and maybe see if he would be better served upstairs as opposed to on the field.

They could also get hurt in the first series of the first game.

It's the risk you run every time you step on the field. You have to weigh the risks and upside. In this case, the Cowboys were willing to throw away a game over this when in reality, there was probably real benefit playing starters in the preseason given a brand new DC who has never called plays before with a totally revamped defensive depth chart playing a new system.

Risk adverse org. Saw that on the first drive when Schotty turtled up on a 4th and like 8 inches.

3 preseason games. If the D starters had just played just 1 series in each game, this complete D breakdown would not have happened.
