I know it’s day 1, still early.

But it’s ludicrous to expect to nail day one starters at 4 different positions on defense in the draft!
And they do it every year! That's what is so insane. Every year, we get bums in free agency, thinking we can fill the gaps in the draft. And then neglect the same positions we neglected in free agency in the draft

That's saying a lot, cause Woods was awful last season. Kazee can add depth at a much cheaper rate then resigning Woods. I'm still drafting a high level safety for the long-term answer at the position.
There is no worse injury in pro sports than a torn achilles. 80% + of athletes never return to their previous level. Even the ones that do, it usually take 2 years after surgery. They're also much more likely to suffer more injuries.

Again, who said all four?

How about address just one big need in the first 24-48 hours of FA with an impact player.

Instead, these dimwits wait a week or so, sign largely scrubs and then think that the draft will solve all their starting issues.

It'd be on thing if this was new. But it's not new. It's been done this way for years and they have literally zero success to show for it. They haven't sniffed a NFC Champ game. They head into each and every season with the same holes that often hold them back year after year after year.

When people point out that they are one of like 6 NFL teams that haven't been in a champ game in 25 years, this is why. They are stubborn and arrogant.

We've been lamenting S and DT play for years. Years.

And every year, they do the same thing. And then every offseason we (and they as well) lament the DT and S play and talk about how we have to get better................

100% true.

And what's so messed up about it is any objective person would be able to look as past failures and identify that the ROSTER just wasn't good enough.

But they don't actually do anything to improve that roster. These are the same guys that thought going into a season with ALLEN HURNS and COLE BEASELY as starting WRs was fielding a competitive team.

Anyone who's expecting the Cowboys to make a big splash in free agency is kidding themselves. It's the same thing every year. Watch as the first tier FA's get scooped up, kick the tires on a couple of second tier FA's and then dive head first into the tier 3 FA dumpster. After that, it's onto the draft

And then they run out mouth pieces like Jane Slater to pump up their strategy and makes excuses for why they won't spend (they spent a bit last year and had "chemistry" issues in the locker room - funny how other teams use FA and don't have locker room problems).

The whole process is a joke and results in a flawed roster. The sad thing is these two bozos will likely get bailed out by the fact the division is a hot mess with Washington having QB issues, the Giants being who they are and the Eagles going through a contraction due to cap problems and age. We'll got 9-7, get rolled in the first round, but the Jones will convince themselves it was a step up from 2020 and they are on the right path.

It's mindnumbing but expected.

I'm going to need you to stop making sense.

I find denial to be much more pleasant.

The team continues to do the exact same thing in free agency every year. No matter who we sign, they'll have the impact of Clinton Dix or Darian Thomson or Allen Hurns.

It's hilarious how predictable we are, but also horrible they wonder why our roster never improves.

We need to have the 2005 draft a lot more often to have any success the way they build a team
