I'm fine with "diggin deeper" especially into your apples to oranges examples where you gave me two 3-4 outside linebackers and a defensive tackle for your 'evidence' for a 4-3 defensive end. And apparently Hardy can get criticized for 6 sacks in 12 games, but you want to praise the rookies for what? 8 sacks? Not hypocritical at all...

You mean the guy who wasn't seeing the double-teams thanks to Hardy? The one coming off of back surgery? That guy?

Oh? When did you get the idea that I needed to "prove anything" to you? Consider everything I post there for anyone and everyone else.

And feel free to put me on ignore if you can't handle the facts I bring to the conversation.

"Apples an oranges" :lmao2:

Original quote - " rookie pass rushers don't put up big numbers", you got examples of defensive players that prove you wrong. "Apples and oranges"

Hardy WASN'T getting double teamed for a good portion of the season. No matter how many times you say this, it doesn't make it true.

Sure I did. And you have me outside linebackers and defensive tackles with 8 sacks and tried to call it the same as a 4-3 defensive end. But no, that's exactly the same... And you gave two players out of about 100 over the last decade plus and tried to call it a 'win' when it's yet another of your failures. The only thing you're good for around here is causing arguments.

Hardy WASN'T getting double teamed for a good portion of the season. No matter how many times you say this, it doesn't make it true.

Pull up the numbers to disprove it then smart guy. Finally do some work to support your claims. Make the effort.

But no, you'd rather just argue with nothing behind it.

For those of you upset that Dallas hasn't been spending on FA's -- I am very proud of them thus far in FA.

BTW, are we ever not .500

I remember a time when cowboy fans were "proud" of the winning, the product on the field, the results......

But I guess I'm too old

This really is the moral of the story. Draft better. Develop better.

We've been "drafting better" for the last 25 years (GM Jerry Jones)

We've been "developing better" for the last 6 years (HC Jason Garrett)

8-8 to 4-12
Not working

This isn't a great indicator of anything.

It just doesn't tell the whole story at all.

Do teams that lose as a result spend more money on free agents than teams that win, and therefore don't feel the need to spend as much?

This is extremely basic and worthless.

Haha, now it's "Bruh, I was talking strictly 4-3 DE".

And what "numbers"? You have film to show you who and who wasn't getting doubled.

Greg Hardy, 6 sacks, 7 hurries

Is there a complete list anywhere?

Where are the Pats, Giants(2 SBs in a decade), Denver, Seattle, etc

  • Well, we do know the Giants teams that won were totally full of their own draft picks with very few (almost no) free agents having big impacts.
  • The Pats are always draft heavy too, but they will try to find some final glue pieces to get them over the top.
  • We all already know that the Seattle team that won was loaded with almost miraculous draft picks (Wilson, Chancellor, Sherman, etc) but they did add a key piece in Lynch...but got him at a good price.

Well in fairness, how are Von Miller and Aldon Smith applicable to a discussion about the Cowboys needing pass rushing defensive ends in their 4-3?

In other words, if we had taken Von Miller and played him at WILL................ guess what?

He wouldn't be sniffing the sack numbers he had.

That's a generalization, and it's not accurate. We drafted better under Parcels. We drafted poorly under Phillips. It hasn't been a monolith.

You and I obviously disagree on whether we've been drafting and developing better under Garrett. I see a bad roster in 2010 that's gotten steadily better and that had a major setback last season largely due to injury. It's an open question whether we've gotten good enough at it to really be among the most competitive teams in the league, and then we've got the huge open question whether or not we can do it at QB, which is the most difficult position to fill. I happen to like that Garrett gives us the stability for that sort of incremental improvement because I think it's a much higher likelihood that we replace him with somebody and Jerry starts swinging for the fences again and winning that way is lightning-in-a-bottle hard. That doesn't make me an idealistic homer. It actually makes me a realist.

Because he didn't say "4-3 defensive ends" - he said ROOKIE PASS RUSHERS.

And once again, you tried to make a point rookie pass rushers don't make an impact. I gave him names, end of discussion until he retracts his initial point.

OK, so he then clarified.

Name for him the 4-3 defensive ends who have come out and been dominant pass rushing ends right from their rookie years?

Oh, I'm sorry. Did you need help in understanding what position Joey Bosa plays? I didn't realize that I needed to be more clear for some people. I'll try to simplify things in the future do you don't get confused.

Yeah, numbers to support your baseless claims that Hardy wasn't the guy getting double-teamed. Actually backing up your claim.

Refute what everyone - including the head coach - knows to be true:

"Greg gets a lot of attention from opposing offenses," Garrett said. "There are certainly some opportunities for him to go one-on-one against guys, but typically, there's a back chipping or there's a tight end over there or there's a double-team.

"If you're among the best defensive linemen in the league, that's the kind of attention you get. He's used to that. He has to fight through that and still be productive, and the guys around him have to be productive and take advantage of their opportunities."

Well, that hasn't happened. Tyrone Crawford, Jeremy Mincey, DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory have combined for just seven sacks, so there's no need for teams to adjust how they're blocking Hardy.

You're the guy claiming that Hardy wasn't the guy being double-teamed, produce evidence to support your claim or shut up!

He didn't even give me good ones with the names he cobbled together. Two of those had 8 sacks as rookies, but I guess that spells success for some people with low expectations.

He threw out four names while over a decade of evidence proves otherwise and then convinced himself that he 'won' something. It's typical as the guy just lives for baseless arguments.

You just asked for numbers! I provide them, and now you're pissed because they aren't in line with you? :lmao2:

Wait, wait, wait. NOW Garrett is your beacon of knowledge? Now his quotes are credible? Dude, this is making me laugh. :lmao:

"Produce evidence" - What evidence are YOU providing, statements from Garrett? Haha

More than you are. More than just an opinion. But, as usual, you're not smart enough to see the difference.
