PS I cannot do anything about @Risen Star. He was consumed by the dark side of The Force just like hey I do not like where this is headed...

You're not fooling anyone
You're also a minion of the dark side (in this context) as any reasonably rational person would be

Well we havent yet, and I said it's a possibilty.

Not faulty at all, you just didnt understand it originally I guess.

Sounds like it's you who "didn't understand it."

As I said, if we sign anybody, these pie in the sky comp picks you're pointing to disappear.

I'm guessing we sign "anybody".

Let's not just use 2017 stats, the other years stats are listed right there to use as well.

Olawale has shown he is able to pull off things as a receiver that Keith has not, and probably will never show. In both their respective careers.

Even if there isnt a much of a difference in thei skill level, at least we are the team saving $600K in cap space and not the other way around.

It could even play out that we move down 20 spots this year, but get a comp pick in 2019, then let Olawale walk and gain another comp pick in 2020.

Hopefully everyone will be pleasantly surprised by the addition.

I LITERALLY said it could play out this way with two comp picks.

You then said it would result in one, WHICH WOULD BE FALSE UNDER YOUR " sign anyone"

I explained how it'd be two, then you move the goal posts.

YOU DIDN UNDERSTAND AND THAT'S OKAY.

Also its not if we sign anyone, we could have multiple 7th comp picks such as Wilber that would get wiped out by "signing anyone" but we still get a 7th due to volume of our 7th round comp picks.

I hope you understand now, if you need further clarification let me know.

Olawale spent much of the 2012 season on the Cowboys practice squad. The Raiders plucked him off the Cowboys practice squad on 12/4/2012 because of injuries to their RB's. In 2017, Olawale led the Raiders in tackles on Special Teams. But Rich Bisaccia, is their new Special Teams coach, and he wanted Keith Smith, with whom he has a track record. Smith will make an average of $2.1M per season over the next two seasons with Oakland. The Cowboys get the Raiders leading special teams tackler, and FB for $1.64M and a drop of 19 positions in Day 3 of the draft. They did not have to give Olawale any signing bonus, and end up saving about $260K over what they could have offered Smith to keep him.

Also, Olawale is already familiar with the Cowboys offense, having spent all but the last 4 weeks of the 2012 offseason and regular season with the Cowboys. The Cowboys can still use the pick they acquired (#192) to select a rookie FB if they so choose, and if he beats out Olawale, they lose nothing.

He's versatile...can also play Tail back. Only issue I got with this is..WTH did we ever release him before? But,I like the trade..smart move. Now Linehan needs to actually use him.

So we aren't really saving $2.6MM at all. Because we could have maybe drafted or signed a FB in FA that would make even less than Olawale. So in theory, this move may have cost say $1MM.

If they want a rookie FB, they can use pick 192 to acquire him. Or they can sign a rookie free agent, and they get to use Pick 192 on another player. There is nothing good to complain about with this trade...unless you just want to complain.

Uh, no.

I'm sure the next excuse will be all that money we save by moving down in the draft...

The only savings is on the signing bonus. Pick 192 cost $15,301 less than pick 173. That is less than $4K per year on the salary CAP. The bigger savings is paying Olawale $260K less than it would cost to keep Smith - for about the same level of player. So, yeah. The Cowboys save $275,301 by keeping Olawale, and if they find a better rookie, they can cut him without any salary CAP implications. If the Raiders cut Smith, they still have to eat his signing bonus.
