But Gathers is six inches taller and 50 pounds heavier than most fullbacks and tight ends. I see him as more of a wall off blocker from the HB spot, but it would clearly be the weakest part of his game. Even compared to James Hanna, an excellent blocker at TE2, he has a major size advantage.

Guess I'm saying being over 6'0 6'1 makes it harder to be a lead blocker.

Blocking a defensive end inline is completely different than trying to block a LBer on the move.

No, I agree for sure. But I think the main use for Gathers would either be receiving or walling off guys on the edge rather than rooting out players to clear a hole for the RB.

Hell no, but here we are. I'm partly guilty for this also, so I shouldn't complain. I supplied too many posts to this thread myself.

Not sure why people are making a big deal about this. We lost our FB, we got another one, a good one. We won't have to get one in the draft because we got (a good one) with NFL game time under his belt.

mr gimmie---- sir please do your homework...cowboys traded a 5th for a 6th...and Keith Smith is head and shoulders better than Olawaze...blocks better ....catches passes better....is a specail team ace and in a pinch can play linebacker...cowboys only saved approx.. 400k in money...not worth it...Smith transitioned from linebacker to fullback/special teams...and became one of the best in NFL in 2 years...the dude is a stud

More of a coin flip which one is better. Smith is three years younger than Olawale, so there is that.
