Here's a Sig Bet that Vick does NO prison time. maybe a league suspension. But come on. They wait weeks for what? Vick to exhume the bodies of the dead animals (if they are there of course). Bull****.

This is ridiculous! There is now freaking way you can plant a decomposed dog, much less 30 of them!

This is no time for philosophy, logic and truth. If his name if Micheal Vick, you must acquit.

Makes a LOT of sense. Many DAs aren't really lawyers or interested in prosecuting criminals. They're politicians first and foremost.

Yes, but that doesn't mean that he shouldn't do what is ethically correct. If he's a politician the people should re-elect if he demonstrates virtue. But if he folds under political pressure then he doesn't deserve to be the district attorney, in my opinion. It's like a defense attorney presenting a half arse defense because he thinks his client is guilty and is repulsed by it.

Even now that the Feds have gotten into this farce?? Yeah, they're REAL fond of wasting their time in high profile cases...

Whether or not he ultimately gets convicted of anything is of course questionable, but after what happened yesterday, I'd rate the chances of him being indicted at nearly 100 per cent...

This is a little pedantic, but in Virginia they're called Commonwealth's Attorneys...

I'm not sure about this, but I do believe the governor has the power to remove a Commonwealth's Attorney, if in his position such a removal is warranted...

I dont see how dog corpses would link Vick to anything. Any testimonial evidence they already have.

Doesn't link him. Just proves there was fighting.

I guess from there you look for some sort of evidence of him being there within the last "so-long".

And if they can prove fighting, Im sure that some sort of responsibility has to be put on Vick as he is the licensed breeder.

Maybe some big *** cruely/negligence thing.....

It's his "dog breeding" operation... if there are an inordinate number of dog corpses for the number of dogs being bred there, then a prudent businessman would certainly look into why that is, because those dogs are his inventory, and thus his profit... and just like that, his claims that he didn't know what was going on there, honest, would look like the bovine fecal matter they are...

Along with the testimony that they likely have putting him on the property, that's just another nail in his coffin...

Yeah, except for it being the FBI or the CIA or something like that....

Its the Department of Agriculture.

LOL....

This is their acting body and its role:

Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service
APHIS aims to protect American animals, plants, and the agricultural industry by offering:
  • Protection from invasive non-native plants, animals, insects, and diseases
  • Monitoring and management of existing agricultural pests and diseases
  • Resolution and management of trade issues related to animal or plant health
  • Prevention or cessation of the inhumane treatment (of animals)
The threats and challenges within APHIS' scope include:
  • Non-compliant biotech events
  • Invasive species
  • Agricultural animal/plant health threats
  • Agricultural bioterrorism
  • SPS trade barriers
  • Wildlife conflicts and diseases
  • Zoonotic diseases
  • Animal welfare issues

IOW, they are there to do their jobs. Inspect and see whats going on. It makes sense that they got the warrant to search the premises as its within their scope of jurisdiction and job titlement. But in no way, shape, or form does it mean an indictment is necessarily coming forward.

And when an indictment doesn't ensue, I am sure I can count on some here to tell me it was a conspiracy and the Vick paid off the "feds" as well.

I look forward to that.

I'm not sure how much experience you have dealing with various federal agencies.

I'd much rather have the FBI looking at me for something than the Department of Agriculture or the SEC or EPA. Investigators for those agencies are much more dogged in their approach and are definitely not someone to be taken lightly.

Yep. Some don't feel they get the respect, or money, they deserve compared to the other agencies so they can be more meticulous and don't play around.

"What is foreign to me is the federal government getting into a dogfighting case," Poindexter said. "I know it's been done, but what's driving this? Is it this boy's celebrity? Would they have done this if it wasn't Michael Vick?"

Poindexter said he was "absolutely floored" that federal officials got involved, and that he believes he and Sheriff Harold D. Brown handled the investigation properly.

"Apparently these people want it," Poindexter said. "They want it, and I don't believe they want it because of the serious criminal consequences involved. ... They want it because Michael Vick may be involved."

Poindexter said he found out about a sealed search warrant filed in the U.S. Attorney's office about the time federal investigators executed it Thursday.
"If they've made a judgment that we're not acting prudently and with dispatch based on what we have, they've not acting very wisely," Poindexter said.

He said Surry County officials were preparing another search warrant for the property and that the investigative team planned to meet to make sure they had all the experts needed to make the search most effective.

"There's a larger thing here, and it has nothing to do with any breach of protocol," Poindexter said. "There's something awful going on here. I don't know if it's racial. I don't know what it is."

You can't bring the SEC into this. That's not fair. The government takes money FAR more seriously than dog fighting.

And if dog bodies are found on the property by the Agriculture Commission, it still doesnt link Vick to the dog fighting itself.

All it does is establish that there was dog fighting on the premises, which by now, everyone assumes to be true anyway.

Good.

There's been way too much playing around as it is already.
