Fellow "No Zeke at 4!" Posters: How will you react if it's him?

We could grab a DE and 1T who could help our pass rush, knock on wood. Plus, the kid will be fun as **** to watch.

Again, I don't want him at 5. I think it's a bad move that we'll come to regret if he gets hurt and/or in 5 years when it's time to move on. But, I'll try to find the positive side and enjoy the ride.

I think it's something of a reach at #4, but I would still expect him to be an excellent player who would provide a ton of value to the Cowboys over his rookie contract. I agree with you that it's unlikely we'd pay for his second contract, but he's only 20 now, so it's possible that there could be a contract or extension that keeps him as a Cowboy through, say, his age-29 season.
 
I would take a deep breath, exhale and place the remote gently on the coffee table and back away.
I would actually not be that upset, it's not what I would do - but I can see the benefits of picking him. Apart from the obvious RB benefits, is a high intelligence guy who will not hurt the franchise. (They could do worse) ...

If it's not: I'm done

Get great at something! You'll always be a day late and a dollar short, trying to plug a hole here and plug a hole there.

Get dominate at something. The Colts never stopped drafting for their offense, even though they failed year after year because of their defense.

Get great at something!

We draft a End. Great. Where the same football that isn't good enough on defense! Same if we go with Ramsey.

Plug a hole here plug a hole there... Still average.

I'll be excited about the pick, even if it's not my 1st choice.
 
If we land Tunsil, Ramsey, or Elliot. While I too do not like drafting RBs this early, this kid is definitely one of the BPAs in this draft as a whole. So, if we get him even at #4. I will be happy.

I'm not sure of the logic of saying, "you can't draft ____________ position in the top ten".

Why?

If that player is your highest ranked player....then yes, you take them...the only possible exception would be kicker.

Jimmy Johnson was once asked if safety was worth a high pick (this is after we drafted Roy Williams). He responded, "if you feel he's a special player at his position....yes!"

If we feel Zeke is a special RB prospect....not a good prospect....a special prospect. Then, why not?

I said top 5. I'm not really interested in having the argument here; it's going on in multiple threads elsewhere and wasn't the intention of this one. I'll simply say that the reasons teams are drafting RBs later and paying them less are the same reasons I don't think they're worth a top 5 pick. That includes, for the most part, shelf life, injury frequency, rookie contract value, and replaceability. Perhaps a draft class will come along that changes my outlook, but this one does not. I see elite prospects at other, more important positions.
 
It sounds like teams maybe wanting to trade up for Zeke (Miami, NYG, Chi) are looking more at Cleveland's 8th pick than all the way up to Dallas.
That, to me, makes MUCH more sense.

I am one who also hates a RB at the position we are at. I prefer if we pick Tunsil, Ramsey, Buckner or Bosa. I prefer Ramsey. But if we pick Zeke I will still be excited because I think he is a good player but I will be upset we passed on better talent especially since that talent would help out our sorry excuse of a defense

I'm not completely going for Elliott. The pick isn't going to completely ruin our team, I think he could help it. I simply prefer Ramsey, Bosa, or Tunsil. If we trade back and snag an extra second, then Zeke is on my radar. I won't be throwing chairs if we draft him.

The biggest issue I have is, there are RBs I like in the second and third we could get without having to spend a top 5-10 pick on. Not to mention, I am a believer in Morris and think he will take the starting gig after McFadden pulls his hammy and never looks back.
 
I still am in total disbelief that they are even considering this after everything they have said and done regarding the RB position,I like Zeke but to me no Rb is worth a top 5 pick,they just dont last too long to make financial and draft capital sense,
