It is a common thing to think that the new talent is on par with established value like Schultz, and a bit optimistic, I'll admit that.

However, since Schultz clearly has proven his value, and our rookie TE's have been a pleasant surprise, shouldn't Dallas consider trading Schultz to get an offensive tackle??
I don't think you can trade a player that's on the Tag.

What value could you get at LT for backup TE's? honest question maybe I'm not seeing the value swing the way others are....who is going to give up a quality LT for a TE? and if its picks just keep the TE and give the picks.

My thought process was that I don’t think there’s a quality LT to get (within Jerry’s cap and draft capital restrictions). At this point we’re just trying to keep Josh Ball off the field

I agree most are not looking to move a LT that can play.

You're probably right on that... Although maybe some team has an above average LT or average LT that has been outshined by a newly drafted LT.

I wouldn’t trade Schultz right now but I’m also fine not paying him. I think he’s an average tight end who put up good numbers and will likely put up better ones this year but overall he’s overrated and not worth what he’s going to want to be paid

if there is a LT in his last year of contract given Schultz is on a tag at 11M.

Doubt anyone would trade for him since he will demand in the 13-15M range.

I bet hendershot gets stashed on the PS. THAT is because he has zero blocking ability. McKean is a true blocking TE. They value him much more than we do for that reason. He makes the 53 because of that.

What team would offer anything of value for a player on a franchise tag?

I will say this. Ferguson might get 800 yards receiving this year. Same with Schultz. Because our wr are so iffy

Actually, they make him expendable next year. I think Ferguson is Schultz in a different number. Hendershot has more speed than any TE the Cowboys have had in a long time. He could be a poor man's version of Kittle or Kelce.

Heard one talking head from 105.3 The Fan mention that Ferguson is a very young version of Witten.

I like your Hendershot comparison to Kittle. Both played for Iowa, right? Kittle is probably a little bigger, but Hendershot plays with wreckless abandon which makes the Kittle comparison fair.

I think we’ve hit on the TE position and are stacked!

Not trading Shultz at this point. Although I’m super excited about the two rookies. Hopefully they prove good enough to let Shultz walk next year.

Trade Vander Esch and Trysten Hill for a left tackle. Former 1st and 2nd round draft picks on cheap contracts. I love Vander Esch but I feel he’s reached his ceiling and we have his replacements already on the team.
