You would trade a possible 100 catch tight end for preseason wonders? I really worry about the sanity of our fans.:eek:

To be honest I am worried about the tight end position if Shultz goes down.
I wouldn't say I'm worried about that, but I'm not interested in seeing how it would be.

Not only are they not trading him but he has no value. Nobody is trading much for a solid but middle of the pack tight end…..
I mean Shultz is a top 10 TE any way you slice it. From stats to media rankings it’s not even a discussion, he’s definitely not a middle of the pack TE.

That said he’s on a franchise tag so no one is going to trade for and then pay him. They’ll try their luck in FA. You’d have to be a top 3-4 guy to get a LT in a trade for a TE.

It is a common thing to think that the new talent is on par with established value like Schultz, and a bit optimistic, I'll admit that.

However, since Schultz clearly has proven his value, and our rookie TE's have been a pleasant surprise, shouldn't Dallas consider trading Schultz to get an offensive tackle??

Can we get a guarantee from all the opponents on the schedule they will play only third and fourth string players about to be cut at the end of training camps, so these two guys who have looked great against men who will soon be looking for jobs, can continue instead of regressing against better talent?

I think we may use the 2/3 TE offense to help ease the loss of our start Left Tackle. And since we don't really have but 1 really good/established WR right now the 2/3 TE offense may be right up our alley lol. Even with Michael Gallup coming back we could still run the 2 TE offense.

I mean I assume there would be teams that would trade a pick for him but no one is going to trade a player for him and certainly not a starting T. It just does not make sense that there would be a team who is trying to win now but can also spare to throw away a starting T and still be winning. Paying him is not the problem, finding a team willing to trade an OL for a TE is.

You cannot trade a player on the Tag.
Many players have been traded. It just has to be done before the contract deadline in July and the new team negotiates a new contract. That's how the Cowboys got Joey Galloway.

Schultz led the team in receptions and tied for the team lead in TD's last season. I'm not trading him right now at the beginning of the season, particularly with Cooper & Wilson already gone, and Gallup & Washington out.

The TE and RB groups, both look to be a strength on offense. I wouldn't diminish that, but rather utilize it...especially given the state of the O-Line.

He has to be under contract before he can be traded.

Joey Galloway was a thousand years ago the rules have changed since then. And I'm 99.9% sure you can't trade a tagged player.

New CBA.

I checked. You cannot trade him until he's under contract.
Which means the Cowboys would have to sign him and then trade him and knowing league rules per the salary cap and trades... that makes things tricky.

Preseason makes fans crazy.

Only one starting wideout with NFL experience, just lost our starting left tackle with no reliable back-up and now we want to get rid of our starting tight end who was one of the best at his position last year?

Defense and Special Teams can’t carry this team alone.

A novel idea and, certainly far from the worst idea espoused on this forum.

But, think about it... what has more value? A starting LT or a starting TE?

But he signed the tag. That's a one year contract fully guaranteed the minute he signs it.

There's no shot in hell they trade him, nor should they. Just not sure why they cannot per rules.

Bro. I looked up the rules. Maybe you should too.
He cannot be traded while on the Tag.

I just thought it was a 1 year fully guaranteed deal also. Guess it makes sense. They can claim you but have to pay the going rate and have no other rights to the player.
