Ferguson and Hendershot make Schultz tradeable

I bet hendershot gets stashed on the PS. THAT is because he has zero blocking ability. McKean is a true blocking TE. They value him much more than we do for that reason. He makes the 53 because of that.

Yeah, that's the kind of comment I was looking for. I hadn't watched enough of the preseason to notice whether or not Hendershot was a good blocker or not. However, he does play hard enough for his helmet to fly off, and still keep upright. Good, but it doesn't guarantee that he blocks like Witten.

From what I've seen, Ferguson is a good all around TE, including blocking, right?

I'm the last guy to think this way.....but Hendershot may get snagged if they expose him.

He shown some real promise, and a team can afford to carry him as TE3. I really wouldn't risk it.

This team desperately needs players with what he brings to the field.

Ferguson looks good also. In good shape at TE.

Actually, they make him expendable next year. I think Ferguson is Schultz in a different number. Hendershot has more speed than any TE the Cowboys have had in a long time. He could be a poor man's version of Kittle or Kelce.

exactly! Not like we need to save money this year. We should’ve also kept Amari but diff topic.

It is a common thing to think that the new talent is on par with established value like Schultz, and a bit optimistic, I'll admit that.

However, since Schultz clearly has proven his value, and our rookie TE's have been a pleasant surprise, shouldn't Dallas consider trading Schultz to get an offensive tackle??

I wouldn’t be coming to the conclusion Schultz is tradeable after two preseason games. It’s not like these young players are playing against starters. Let’s wait until the regular season.

I don't know if anyone has told you or not, but you can't trade a franchise tagged player. And Shultz is a free agent after this season.

Bold moves like you are suggesting are things that a team like New England would do. The hoodie doesn’t care if a given move works or not. He makes the move and then lives with the repercussions later, good or bad.

I have no idea if what you are suggesting is feasible or not, but if you can offload Schultz’ one year franchise tag hit and have little to no drop off, you do it all day, every day.

You would trade a possible 100 catch tight end for preseason wonders? I really worry about the sanity of our fans.:eek:

To be honest I am worried about the tight end position if Shultz goes down.

Seriously, even before the injury everything pointed towards them going heavy 12 personnel and you want to hitch the TE position to a 4th and UDFA pair of rookies? Team is 6 deep at DE. Think I’d take offers on Fowler and Basham!

You cannot trade a player on the Tag.

Heard one talking head from 105.3 The Fan mention that Ferguson is a very young version of Witten.

I like your Hendershot comparison to Kittle. Both played for Iowa, right? Kittle is probably a little bigger, but Hendershot plays with wreckless abandon which makes the Kittle comparison fair.

I think we’ve hit on the TE position and are stacked!

I see the comparison to Witten. I'd have to see more of Ferguson to make that comparison though. If he holds once a game run blocking then he is Witten.

Calm down everyone. I was just kidding.

What offensive tackle are we getting for Shultz. TE's dont have value on the trade market

I'm sure that there will have to be some picks involved as well... but it's going to hurt if Dallas chooses to trade away Schultz... unquestionably.
Then just trade the picks. Shultz would only be a throw in anyways

if the FO traded Schultz who is playing on the Franchise tag so all of his money guaranteed whether he is here or not would pretty much make this off-season the dumbest ever with the botching the Cooper situation, re-signing Gallup, and not having a Plan B for swing tackle.

Bro with the lack of playmakers on this team and the injuries to the inevitable, now is not the time to get rid of Daks number 1 or 2 most reliable and comfortable targets.

All I am saying is people get a little high on rookies that play well in preseason against other rookies or a mixture of rookies, second team or starters.

Fat Mike prefers big thuggish blockers at TE . Hendershot is a hybrid and the kid can be a match up nightmare . But will the staff agree?
