I just don't see it. The market for suits and sport jackets is too prissy.

abersonc;1528675 said:
Actually, I think that they have a nice window here. A lot of grown men are babies and won't wear a jacket and tie because they claim it is uncomfortable - a totally ridiculous statement, of course, since a good quality suit is extremely comfortable.

If Reebok can market this as "comfortable" formal wear then they might have a decent market.

Of course, my guess is that Reebok didn't make those suits in the first place - they probably had CK make them for them.

Oh yeah. Does anyone else see the irony of this thread title "fight the power" -- and we are talking about fighting the power by wearing suits.

i'm 41, make damn good money, and go to work on sweats and a t-shirt. granted this isn't "norm" and i realize that. but i'm not my father in that i just won't wear a "traditional" suite. don't like 'em, don't like the "old school" they represent where they were forced on people in order to be taken seriously - which is what i really hate. people think you put on a suit and you're smart all of a sudden.

wear sweats and have long hair, you get a different reaction.

not complaining as i'm well aware of what my "look" can do good and bad and that's life. but if reebok/nike came out with something that was more formal but not "suit / tie" type of a scenario, i'd look into it.

if you're into traditional suits, no - this likely wouldn't be for you. if you're already wearing dockers and so forth and that's your mainstay then maybe this route would be a whole new direction.

it would take work to identify your target audience and some fallout on either side, but in the end, i think it could work.

Ya see, you are coming at the suit in the wrong way.

Me, I see the suit as representing studs like Frank Sinatra, Leonard Cohen, Marcello Mastroianni. Not your everyday shmo who had to wear one.

Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. A suit and tie is a good look. I don't have to wear one -- I could come to work in sweats and a t-shirt. Some of my colleagues do. I wear a jacket and tie because I like 'em.

In response to that pic, I believe Schwarzenegger said it best in Predator,

I couldn't imagine Tom Landry in anything but a suit on the sidelines. class personified.

This league is in desperate need of some class now. Let them wear the suits.

I know a guy who wears a suit everyday...He is the most classless human being I've ever met... what I'm saying is, the suit dosn't define someones class, the individual defines their class...but, I'm all for the suits, they look nice and professional.

Yes, but you can't be classy dressed like Bill Belichek. It just doesn't work. Part of having class is looking like you care about your appearance.

Why doesn't Reebok just start making a line of suits? :D

They could get Michael Irvin and Pacman to design the suits. Orange velvet suits are so misunderstood and need to go mainstream.

who's to say a guy in sweats doesn't have class, I'm not arguing that suits are classless, I'm saying that someone who is in a suit, isn't it always classy. Suits are worn to look nice or business like. The suit doesn't define class, BUT the suit is very nice and professional. And as far as my knowledge goes, Bill Belichek could be a very classy guy, but I'm not going to pass judgement, I haven't met him.

Sharp Dressed Man

Clean shirt, new shoes
and I don't know where I am goin' to.
Silk suit, black tie,
I don't need a reason why.
They come runnin' just as fast as they can
coz every girl crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man.

Gold watch, diamond ring,
I ain't missin' a single thing.
And cufflinks, stick pin,
when I step out I'm gonna do you in.
They come runnin' just as fast as they can
coz every girl crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man.

Top coat, top hat,
I don't worry coz my wallet's fat.
Black shades, white gloves,
lookin' sharp and lookin' for love.
They come runnin' just as fast as they can
coz every girl grazy 'bout a sharp dressed man.

I still don't see why the NFL refuses to let coaches wear suits. Just cut a licensing deal with a suit maker.

Suits on sidelines are totally impractical.

Except the guy in the video/song was out to score, not to win a football game. He was also not standing outside in the rain/snow/sleet.
