I agree with you guys dak needs to go to the Canadian league or the XFL to prove himself. After another 5 to 10 years he can come back and backup some starter on a bad team.

Their is a reason Parcel's has his standards in drafting QB's.

1. Senior must graduate
2. 3 year starter
3. Must start 30 games and win at least 23
4. Must have 60%+ completion percentage
5. Must have a 2:1 TD/Int Ratio

No where does it saying anything about running ability, being an athlete, having a big arm or anything about having a lot of potential.

The things above are proof of maturity and success.

Trey Lance does not come anywhere close to meeting these requirements.

QB is an intellectual position first(that takes playing time to develop). An intellectual position 2nd. Then athletic ability becomes a factor.

For the Love of God how athletic was Tom Brady???

That's for the 90s. Pat Mahomes started 32 games and went 13-19 as a starter at Texas Tech.

So the gist of that vid is that he has talent, but cannot read a defense to save his soul.

Sounds like the perfect backup for Dak. Don't have to change ANY of the gameplan if Lance has to step in for Dak.

Exactly this. Lance needs reps. It’s still too early to tell in his development.
The only place he’ll get them is in preseason. He’ll never see the field during the regular season unless he wins the backup job and Dak gets injured. I know a lot of fans don’t want to hear that but it’s a fact.

Keeping Dak is a mistake. Regardless of anything to do with Lance

Trey Lance has elite skills and didn't play much in college. He needs playing time. 8+ years of Dak and nothing to show for me. Not to mention that Try is still young. Like 23 or 24. There was a reason that the 49ers traded up to get him.
He got playing time in SF and didn’t look good. He was given an opportunity last summer to compete for the starting job and couldn’t even win the backup job. Some of you just want to throw him on the field in meaningful games and see if he’ll sink or swim.

A mistake would be leaving ourselves without a viable starting QB, which is exactly what would happen if some of you ran the team. It would lead to miserable seasons where we wouldn’t even have any hope. We would be playing out the last few games of the season with nothing to play for. The Cowboys are a very QB dependent team due to their lack of a consistent running game. We wouldn’t have won 9 games this season with an average QB.

So your answer is to continue playing Dak and pray for a different result. Lance is only 23 or 24, he didn't get a lot of playing time in SF because he got hurt. He didn't play much in college either. He's raw. Not sure why it is so hard for some of you to figure out. Good thing GB didn't give up on Love.

A mistake is a failure to realize that Dak is clearly not the answer at a reasonable cap hit much less a larger one. We were 5-1 with a backup when Dak got hurt. Please. Not sure what you are talking about.

Lance didn’t get a lot of playing time because he got hurt and couldn’t win the starting job when given an opportunity. SF saw no hope in him and traded him. Don’t know why that’s so hard for some of you to figure out. The best they could get for him is a 4th round pick and jumped at it. My answer is to let someone compete with Dak. You can’t just throw a QB into the starting lineup who hasn’t earned the starting job.

Works for Dak and guys like you are content with it. What you can't do is extend Dak at $55+ million a year! Not sure why some guys can't figure that out. Then there's CD Lamb and Parsons too. Do the math and look at the numbers. This team will never win with a high paid choke artist like Dak.

He hasn’t been the answer in the playoffs and neither has the rest of the players we have. Parsons never shows up in the playoffs. The dilemma the Cowboys have is that Dak has been an excellent regular season QB but he’s turned into Romo in the playoffs his first few seasons. We were 5-1 with a backup 2 years ago because we had a consistent running game and our defense was playing lights out. Our D never gave up more than 17 points during the wins we had with Rush but we weren’t scoring much with him. We were winning with our defense and kicker. Our passing game with Rush was below average.

We became the highest scoring team once Dak returned. Some of you are kidding yourselves if you think our current team could win games consistently with an average QB like Rush. The guy wasn’t even breaking 200 yards passing in some games. He only had 3 TD passes in 5 games. Even CeeDee wasn’t producing with him. The Cowboys have a pass first offense with an inconsistent running game. You have no grasp of the NFL if you honestly think we could compete with Cooper Rush or another average QB.

Lance might not be the answer. Yet I'd take the uncertainty of going that way over the security of a 12-5 season with no hope in the play offs any day. Heck give me an honest 5-12 season with a development plan for the upcoming years instead of 10 wins against below 500 teams.

I agree. It is worth a shot. What the hell do we got to lose, a first round playoff game and a late draft pick?

A recipe for mediocrity. Extending Dak will cripple this franchise. We are done here. Not arguing with Dak lovers anymore.
