We have been unbalanced. But I was talking about the team we are right now. I saw a team Saturday that was tied and worn out. And still we hung in there. With equal rest to the Rams I think they give the effort we saw in the Seattle game, and it is a very different outcome.

They did seem tried but They were outcoached and out schemed as well. They had no answers
Still think Dallas wouldve lost to the better team. Just maybe it wouldnt have looked so bad

After watching todays games, & seeing who's playing in the Conference Championship Games...

Patriots @ Chiefs

Rams @ Saints

Couldn't help but immediately notice, all four teams have explosive offenses. All four teams are where they are, primarily (<---key word) because of their offensive prowess. Without looking up stats, I believe these are four highest scoring offenses in the league.

The old adage of defense wins championships, sure isn't going to apply this year.

Looking at them a little closer, you've got 2 aging veteran pocket passers, & 2 young stud mobile QB's. Gonna be interesting to see how this plays out, who wins, & how.

I hope Jerry & Co. pay attention to what's going on here. This is precisely the direction the league has been trying to move.

While, our deficiencies on defense were exposed last night, we need a more potent offense to compete with the likes of these teams, & the similar teams that will be coming. The league is very copy cat. This formula is going to be replicated, or at minimum attempted to be replicated by plenty of others.

So... while trying to fill the weak spots on our defense this off season, please don't leave the status quo with our offense. We need some help there too, or we'll be sitting here watching other teams Championship weekend next year too.....

Thoughts..?

Last year the final four consisted of teams all in the top 5 in scoring defense. Of course, we ended up having 74 points scored in the Super Bowl.

I'm a "defense" kinda guy. I love a stout Defense. I always believed, "Defense Wins Championships". It just seems that over the last few years, the league itself, has intentionally changed the game to favor offense. I think it's pretty obvious. Good defense or not, to be successful today, you've got to be able to score points, lots of em. Preferably north of 30/game. At a bare minimum, 25+.

My overall point is simply, even though the glaring problem we saw against good teams this year, was our inability to shut them down (except Saints), we still need more production out of our O. I was pleasantly surprised by our defense from midway in the season on. I was disappointed by the Colts game and, absolutely stunned vs. the Rams. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Although, even with the below par performance of our D, a more productive O could've carried us to victory. Lots of opps were left on the field.

Our passing game needs some major upgrades. Need OL help, TE, and WR.

I don’t get how some refuse to understand what is really needed. None of those things will help one single bit if the offensive philosophy and scheme is not changed. You could give Garrett and Linehan the entire starting offense they will coach in the Pro Bowl and they still wouldn’t win a title. The first upgrade needed is the coaching. I have no doubt there are plenty of coaches out there that could get way more out of the current players than Garrett.

We are fine. We had to dig out of a deep hole and the team ended up being over taxed. Next year we have Cooper from the start and no Zeke suspension. If we get the bye we will be equally as rested as everyone else. A great team that is balanced will beat great one dimensional teams on an equal playing field, ie, same amount of rest.

Jerry loves you.

Great points and observations. The league rewards QB-centric offenses and they are getting the best of these in this year’s final four. The Chiefs have an offense with virtually no flaws, an other-worldly QB in Mahomes, and an outstanding tactician in Andy Reid. I think they are not only going to beat the Patriots but potentially embarrass them as the game is in KC— a “home field advantage” of which we Cowboys fans can only dream.

The Cowboys defense was Very Good (not Great) this season. The offense was Not Very Good, especially in the context of what the NFL rewards today and in direct comparison to these final four teams. They desperately need to address that problem or, as you say, the Cowboys will likely never go any further in the playoffs.

Its pretty simple in todays game.

You Need

1. High power Offense
2. a Good to solid Defense
3. QB that can move the Ball with his Arm even under Pressure.

Cowboys ranked 31st in Red Zone Efficency. 22nd in Points scored and dont have a QB that can move the Ball with his Arm, atleast not 9/10 times.

They did have a good to solid Defense until the Colts Game. Since than theyve been **** too.

Cant expect to get to a SB with that.

Agreed. Although, I wouldn't bet against Brady, & Belichek.

I feel the same way about our units. The D was pretty good. Although, not great. Offense was much lower comparatively speaking. I hope they figure it out. I really do. It feels like we are close. I know our fan base is starving for some post season success. While, I feel for the younger generation that has never seen success live, I'm biased, & care more about those of us who lived through the 70's, 80's, & 90's, & have experienced both sides of the roller coaster. To have seen it, experienced it, & go this long with failure, has been tough. I've become immune to the haters (somewhat). We've been the butt of jokes for a couple decades now. Would sure love to see us reach that pinnacle again, & shut em up for a year or two.

The Cowboys franchise is configured to win games in the regular season and at least have a chance to make the playoffs. 9+ wins seems to be the goal. More is better. Sometimes they make the playoffs. Sometimes they even win the NFCE.

But making a deep playoff run has remained elusive because its not the #1 priority. Keeping the gravy train rolling and the money flowing is.

And you can tell that because of the reaction in upper management when it starts to look like they are going to have a down year in the regular season that might upset the apple cart.

They start blaming anything and everything but themselves. Then start doing anything to turn it around. Like spending draft picks or bringing in free agents if they are available.

That is who they are. Been that way for quite a while.

Pathetic to see the Cowboys ranked where they are.

Also, people can hate the Patriots all they want, but man is that respectable!
Their run has been incredible. To be what they have been for nearly 2 decades straight.... wow. If you take away all the fluff, etc... they are a glaring example to the league. A top QB, & great Coach are THE winning combination. All the other parts have been interchangeable. The only constants for them over that span, have been Bill, & Tom. It will be interesting to see how they do when #12 hangs up the cleats for good.

The NFL got what they wanted and where they've been headed for quite some time. This should be ratings gold.

The LAR-NO is what most football fans, not married to one team, wanted and the total points should exceed 60.

Then, we've got the heavy. I would bet there are more fans rooting against NE than at any other time or any other team in the SB era. I think they're tired of seeing them in it and Belichick and Brady, while respected for what they've done, are not well liked outside their fandom.

I know we are disappointed as Cowboys fans but as a football fan, I want excitement and unless you are a Cowboys fan, that is one boring offense.

Usually, the NFL would want the Cowboys in it because that's guaranteed ratings gold but what they want this time is a KC-LAR rematch. Consider how many people will be watching that are not fans and do not spend any appreciable time watching throughout the season. That matchup could set the record. I am not sure how many will be interested if NE is in the SB, I know I'll pass as I did last year.

No doubt but don't you think most are tired of seeing them in it?

8 consecutive years now, the Patriots are in the AFC Championship game with the opportunity to go to the Superbowl.

At some point, the other teams in the AFC have to take this a certain way.

Defense still wins championships. But in today's game it is much harder to build an elite defense to compete with the current offenses due to cap. We rarely see elite defenses anymore. But the last time we did we saw them trash what was supposed to be one of, if not the best offense in NFL history. And we only have to go back to 2013. At the moment I think the Cowboys are closer to building an elite defense than we are to outscoring the high powered teams.

I think those are safe bets. Add Irving to the mix, & possibly Lawrence, because of the contract he doesn't deserve, I mean will command.
Irving is a FA
Dlaw is your best pass rusher
Without a first rnd pick you have little choice but keep law
