We are at 77 players right now.

The cutdown to 75 players is September 1st.

The cutdown to 53 is September 5th.

So 2 people will be cut by Tuesday, maybe more. But I sincerely hope no one here will be all butt hurt if those cuts don't happen today, right now, immediately. The staff will get these things done, but not necessarily on our time schedule.

I don't think you can even do that on the weekend, can you? I would think the league office wold have to be open, wouldn't it?

thirdly jimmy johnson is gone, he ain't coming back and yes i know you think
you know more than wade but you dont

Dude, if you want Cowboyjoe to make sense then you are barking up the wrong tree.

its true the league office is closed, but as a head coach you can call the player in, and tell him to clean out his locker;

no wont be brandon williams, or brewster, best to my knowlege a writer touched on this; the cowboys have to keep brewster at least till the last cut, then they can put him on ir;
not sure about brandon though;

not to me, by cutting one or 2 of those players you send a message to your players on the field that you arent going to put up with stupid mistakes and half effort;

that makes your players realize that they could be next
just like nate newton said once in 92, he was scared that jimmy johnson was going to cut him any day; so nate played hard and best to his abililty

true nate made a mistake now and then, but not a mistake that killed a drive and nate made all pro that year too;

remember this all goes back to what wade said at the end of the year, changes have to be made;
and i myself have to be accountable as well as the players,
players must be held accountable;

just saying dont do it again or i think they learned playing that way can cost you the ball game;
that doesnt cut it, you have to send a message

now that message could be, ok in practice your going to wear pads and your going to tackle till you get it right. If an offensive tackle or guard or center holds, etc, then that whole offensive line as a unit has to run extra laps, etc.

main thing you have to send a message, like jimmy johnson said keep your head in the game; some players last night, didnt have their heads in the game at crucial times; you have to correct that; before it becomes a habit on the team of doing stupid mistakes and penalities

I'd have strongly considered cutting Courtney Brown on the spot last night. He's not going to make the team anyway, and his mistakes are just the kind of thing that cost us games last season. If you can make an emotional impact at the same time you make a cut you're going to make two days later, anyway, you might as well go for it.

Procter, I would keep until the last cutdown so you can see him alongside Preston. Stanback, you don't release until your WR group is back healthy.

IF Newton said that he was full of it, because he knew as well as everyone watching he was not getting cut.

You cut a scrub like Curvin Richards, but I guarantee Emmitt could have fumbled 5 times in that same game and he would not have been cut

There was something written on here just a few days ago that said Singletary didn't have the Whiners tackling in practice either. I agree with your other points that Brown, Proctor and Stanback should be cut, but I'd have no problem with using them as the fodder in the Minny preseason game. On the other hand, if they were cut today it wouldn't hurt my feelings either.

thats not what the moose said, Daryl J said that coach singletary had his players practing in pads and hitting all of training camp except for 3 or 4 days.
The moose even went on to say that their is a shift back to the old school way of hitting and working out in pads and tackling in practice during training camps.

I believe if you look at the great teams that won more than one super bowl in a 7 year span, most of those teams, the steelers, dolphins, cowboys, packers worked out in pads and hit and tackled.

You have to get your players geared up to hit and be hit so when you run across the tough teams your ready to smack that team in the face,

Now, after a team gets over being young and you have a veteran team, then you can slacken up, because you have leaders on your team to see that the little things gets done.

Its just like greg ellis said after the oakland loss to the saints,
you have to practice, hit, and get ready to be hit, while doing the little things, you just cant go out onto the field and turn it on;

thats the point im trying to make;

Newton did say that BigD, evidently you havent listened to him when he talks about training camp, and the way they played in the 90's.

What about the right side of the offensive line false starting again, just like last week. It killed a sure TD, imo. Then, Proctor showed up to kill the FG.

That is the stuff that cost you playoff spots and division titles.

Colombo false started last week and killed a long drive.

Flozell gets all the attention, but remember, it was Colombo's false start that really hurt a Cowboys drive, late in the game, in the 2007 Divisional playoff game.

Bill Parcells might have sat "Free Reign"'s butts on the pine for a while. He would have at least yelled at someone.

Man, I wish Philllips would sit those guys' butts down when they false start at home when the team is rolling.

There is no excuse for it.

totally agree 41gy, something needs to be done, thats for sure;

uh Hostile, the Commanders made their cuts today;

Michael Grant-DB- Commanders Aug. 30 - 2:10 pm et

Commanders waived DB Michael Grant.

Grant can run like the wind, but was being tried at safety in camp. It's a position the former Georgia cornerback isn't built for at just 5'10/186.

Michael Marquardt-DL- Commanders Aug. 30 - 2:08 pm et

Commanders waived DT Michael Marquardt.

Marquardt, 27, was signed only to be a camp body at the start of August.

Marques Hagans-WR- Commanders Aug. 30 - 2:07 pm et

Commanders waived WR Marques Hagans.

The former college QB couldn't pass late-round pick Marko Mitchell behind Santana Moss, Devin Thomas, Antwaan Randle El, and Malcolm Kelly.

Devin Clark-T- Commanders Aug. 30 - 2:06 pm et

Commanders waived OT Devin Clark.

The 23-year-old project was banged up in training camp.

Alfred Fincher-LB- Commanders Aug. 30 - 2:05 pm et

Commanders released LB Alfred Fincher.

Fincher, 26, got beat out by H.B. Blades and converted defensive end Chris Wilson to back up first-round pick Brian Orakpo at strong-side linebacker.

My point was, the article said they didn't tackle to the ground in camp just like we didn't. If you want to argue they had more practices in pads, well maybe they did. But they didn't tackle as you wanted us to do, if that article was correct.
