Leon Lett said the same thing after the Miami missed FG game where Lett pounced on the ball and Miami recovered giving them a second FG try and eventually the win. After we lost the game, he went in to the locker room fearing Jimmy would cut him. That was the atmosphere around VR back then.

The Leon Lett was FOS or stoned because everyone knew there was no chance he was getting cut

Name ONE good player Jimmy ever cut to "send a message"

He let the Irvin's of they world do what ever the **** they wanted to do, so pull your head out.

Let's look at the guys named in this thread and discuss what the "message" would be by cutting them "right now" vs. sometime before the September 1 deadline.

Courtney Brown, not likely to make the team anyway. What message would the team get right now versus before Tuesday?

You got me. I think cutting Rudy Carpenter is a better football move. Damn me for thinking about football moves versus placating pissy fans.

Isaiah Stanback, not likely to make the team at this point unless an injury derails someone's season. What message would the team get right now versus before Tuesday?

I suppose it would send the message that Ogletree is making the team. I guess that would make a lot of people happy. We all know that is more important than a solid football move. I mean, in all seriousness, where are the demands to cut Jessie Holley? He has done less than Stanback. Oh wait, he's a TV star underdog. Got it, I forget these stupid rules.

Cory Procter, I'd love it, but is it really practical or simply disgust? What message would the team get right now versus before Tuesday?

Beats me since no one has even seen the guy who would replace him play. Yes, by all means let's cut players the fans don't like in favor of players the fans have no good opinion on yet because they have not played. Solid Madden strategy.

Patrick Watkins, a questionable call with Michael Hamlin gone for 4 to 6 weeks. What message would the team get right now versus before Tuesday?

I guess that we want to play short handed at safety for 4 to 6 weeks.

Hey Joe, I take it all back. These are great messages to send to the team.[/sarcasm]

Yeah, I got it. I still don't agree.

Jimmy Johnson works for FOX.

Ideas, not ideals. Please look up the word both words. Here's a link to an online Dictionary. They are not interchangeable.

I know of 12 writers who read this forum. Hey, knock yourself out. I still think it's silly.

Bully for the Patriots. Ask me if I care. Then go back and look at their long term History and ask yourself if one day of them doing it this way is the norm or the exception.

Uh, that means look up how they USUALLY handle business. You will find that I was exactly right.

If being a kid keeps me in the real world over fantasies I can accept that. Besides I like kids.

Knock yourself out Joe.

I reserve the right to repeat my feelings this is nothing but a foolish tantrum and the cutdowns will happen when they happen despite 23,000+ fans screaming for them.

Since, when is your fantasy world any different from me or anybody else on this site. Granted, now and then someone comes up with a good suggestion or comment, that the writers use or ask the cowboys. If you dont believe that, then your living in another fantasy world. Thats what this site is for to me, to share your thoughts, opinions, comments. Just like you reserve the right to repeat your feelings, so do I.

Even if I knock myself out, I know sometimes that my thoughts or comments gets to the Cowboys and makes a difference.

I dont agree with everything you say either, sometimes you have some good thoughts or comments, and I have even said so. I don't need someone to clap for me, or say my thoughts were good. That''s not my purpose.

Mine is to share, links, podcasts, info, with other cowboys fans and try to help the cowboys win games. I look at it like something that Parcells said, and showed that he was wrong. Parcells said fans have no influence in winning a game or helping. He was wrong.

One fan, kinda like I did with the missed field goals, called in to Tex and told him about robert newhouse unbuckling his chin strap when he went out for a pass, but didnt unbucle his chin strap when he stayed in to block or run. Tex, told the fan he appreciated that, and would look into it, Sure enough thats what happened, jack pardee on film would holller out pass, pass everytime Robert Newhouse went out for a pass with his chin strap unbuckled. So, knock yourself out with more comments. I know mine makes a difference in a game now and then and has helped the cowboys win some games. That's my whole purpose, to help the Cowboys in whatever way I can and to root them on, no matter what.

I already knew when the patriots cut players and when and on what dates. I keep up with the cuts, trades etc due to some sites that i update on football news and a sports director i give info too.

Wow, I don't know what to say to this statement. I would love to see some actual proof that you have helped the Cowboys win yourself.

BTW...you have seriously hijacked your own thread. You did not answer one single question that Hos asked you.

get rid of Stanback, Proctor and D. Smith.
By next season, replace Watkins and Carpenter.

If you cut Brown or Stanback or say traded Proctor, you send a message to the team, that your not going to put up with stupid mistakes. If you don't send some message, then your doing the opposite, everything is oke dokey and don't worry. I am good ole wade, and I won't cut you. So, why would you worry or practice harder or play harder or concentrate better.

You got me. I think cutting Rudy Carpenter is a better football move. Damn me for thinking about football moves versus placating pissy fans.
You can cut Rudy Carpenter, but that wouldnt send a message that your going to correct mistakes or sloppy playing. In other words, I will use your own words hostile, your allowing placating pissy players to remain on the team and not do their job. In that way, your allowing penalties to continue and not correct them. For example, what did you do to Brown that made the sloppy play with his interference on the wr, or what did you do to proctor with the bad exchange between himself and kitna. You have to show the players that your not going to put up with mistakes. Remember, what did wade say, we are going to do it the right way, and the cowboy players said, we're going to do it the cowboy way.

See above!

Oh, I got it now Hostile, the cowboys are going to keep allowing penalties, dumb plays, so the Cowboys will keep losing games, especially during critical games.

Cory Procter, I'd love it, but is it really practical or simply disgust? What message would the team get right now versus before Tuesday?
With proctor, I say wait till the day or 2 before the last cut, a team's starting og or center might go down, and a team might make a trade for him. To me, proctor has some value in a trade.

Patrick Watkins, a questionable call with Michael Hamlin gone for 4 to 6 weeks. What message would the team get right now versus before Tuesday?
I never said cut watkins yet, he is still on the roster due to his special teams play. That could change friday night with hodge finally playing possibly. And if the Cowboys still have their eyes on keith davis as I think they do. I am talking football here Hostile. Not trying to please any fans or myself, but what I feel is good for the team.

Like I told you, I got a personal letter from Tex Schramn and Gil Brandt on the field goal issue with charley waters holding the football on field goals. I was sitting at the 2nd level about the 38th row, the Cowboys changed my season tickets to the first level with my seat at the 25 yard line. Along with that, I got a personal photo of a glossy black and white photograph of roger staubach throwing to robert newhouse. Those photos are taken in the game by the cowboys staff.

I met All Pro offensive guard John Wooten, and gave him a yellow packet with some notes on a specific famous formation now in the NFL. In fact, the person that had wrote the article on the formation play, was with the Cowboys at the current time. Coach Landy installed that formation a week or so later telling the former head coach to install that formation. I also got a $52 ticket from a police officer for supposedly going through a yellow light, the bus pulled right out in front of me, while i was going downtown to the cowboys headquarters in my car, so when i went under the traffic light it turned yellow, then red, a policeman standing on the sidewalk, that I didnt see because he was besides the bus, pulled me over and gave me a ticket. I was really ticked off at him, because the bus pulled right out in front of me through the traffic light.

I have talked to Jerry Jones several times along with Tex in the past and Tom Landry on a few occassions. I even met Mrs Landry when I went to the Cowboys headquarters and talked with her.

Good Gawd. Why do those players mentioned make mistakes? Because they suck. That's what bottom of the roster guys who won't make the team do.

Agreed.

And cutting them--immediately--won't send any type of message other than what the players remaining already know, they weren't that good to begin with. Courtney Brown has been a dead man playing cornerback for several weeks now.

With the injury situation with Ball, I would rather just keep a player like Brown around to take snaps against Minnesota than expose players we might need to unnecessary risk.

Now, Stanback? Have at him. Although I think he gets one more little chance, just for old time's sake.

Joe think about this for a minute...Lets say the team does like you ask and cut those that make stupid mistakes...

So lets say that Ware jumps offside and gave the opponent a 1st down (has happened before) So he is cut.

Lets say Flo moves to early taking the team out of FG range and they have to punt costing the Cowboys points (has happened before) So he is cut.

Romo throws to the wrong man...cut

Roy runs wrong route...cut

same with every other player...cut

uh-oh ran out of players lets start on the coaching staff

called the wrong play...cut

failed to anticipate other teams actions...cut

uh-oh ran out out of Coaches...lets start on the front office & support people

hired wrong player & coaches...cut

washed too many jocks...cut

Uh-oh ran out of FO & Support people lets start on the fans

Rooted for the wrong team...cut

there is nobody left Joe.... Happy now

if you apply a standard to the team than you have to be able to live with it...

your's is make a stupid mistake and get cut...but in the end everyone is going to make a mistake Joe even multiple mistakes.

I would keep Carpenter. Let him play most of the Minnesota game. Throw it to Stanback a lot, who cares.

I know I don't want Romo playing much nor Kitna for that matter. McGee's health has to factor into this a little. If he's not able to play, I see no reason to expose our other healthy QBs.

I think our two roster spots might just be I.R. moves (Williams and Brewster).

He let the Irvin's of they world do what ever the **** they wanted to do, so pull your head out.

It's true that Jimmy didn't cut many big name stars with the Cowboys. Chuck Noll, Bill Parcells and Jimmy Johnson all had players that did stuff like Michael Irvin did, and they let them get away with things. Why? Because those players produced on Sundays. Thats the bottom line, you produce on game day for the head coaches, and generally the head coach will go to bat for you. Just like when Leon Lett made a bone headed play in the thanksgiving game in the snow. Lett thought he was going to be cut.

Thats the point I am trying to make, even Leon Lett thought he was going to be cut, the players feared being cut by Jimmy Johnson. Jimmy didnt cut him because Lett produced and made plays. At the same time, remember the kicker that year, what did Jimmy say about him. Jimmy said the kicker told him in practice, coach I lost my confidence. Jimmy cut him the next day.

Is Courtney Brown or Stanback or Proctor a NFL caliber player like Irvin. No! So, by cutting a player like one of them you send that message. You keep hammering that home, till the players get it through their thick head, to keep their head in the ball game.

That's the point I am trying to make. Not to please my thoughts or a fan but to keep sending that message that the cowboys started when wade said changes have to start with me, and you have to be accountable.

In other words, how are you going to make the players accountable? Remember, most of you have been saying the last few years, when are the players going to be accountable.
