He's a rookie getting his first start against some decent receivers. He dropped a pick or two but I wouldn't say he looked bad. He made some plays as well.
He seems very aggressive, but doesn't overrun the play. At least from the plays I saw.

Tons of guys played well. Very happy with the rookies.

Lamb played alright but seemed rusty, which was expected.

The punter, Anger, had a few short kicks, especially the first one.

Lamb played terrible. Had several key drops that killed drives. But also Dak wasn't that great as well.

He played much better in the 1st half and had a few miss fires in the 2nd half but there were also a number of dropped balls in there too that could have extended drives.

Regardless we got the win on the road against a good defense to open the season so I'll take it!
Oh I'm not mad about it. Didn't get to watch the first half but kept up with it at work. Got home shortly after halftime and the offense fell asleep. I was perfectly fine watching the defense tee off on Watson though! Definitely a stronger win than most are giving it credit.

Funny how before the game everybody said Cleveland was a quality team that would totally embarrass the Cowboys. After we beat them 33-17, amazingly we stunk and the Browns were just trash. Funny how that works isn't it. Hmmmm.
Whats funny is that you have no clue that I am slapping sarcasm directed at all of the miserable downers on this site that do nothing but complain about this team, their coaches, their owner, their mascot and their stadium. My sarcasm was so thick and yet you still couldnt spot it. Now that, is funny.

Overshown was a torpedo today. Zeke looked better than expected.
Yes. Zeke looked like he lost a few pounds. He’s probably our best overall RB but that’s not saying a lot. It’s a pretty weak group.

Carson extremely impressive as a rookie. They would not throw at Doggs.

Kendrick good, Aubrey superhuman. Lamb great, Cooper did well, Zeke looked young

The defense as a whole looked fantastic. It would have been nice to see a bit more penetration by the interior, and Carson was a weak link in the secondary, but neither the interior or Carson (especially for a rookie) were bad, just relative weaknesses when compared to the other performances on our defense. Last season it was a similar story in games where we were consistently able to pass rush, but it was a very different story when we faced disciplined teams that established the run, and kept manageable down and distances. Cleveland and Watson played it wrong.

In saying that we can only beat what's in front of us and while facing a good scrambling QB, it was nice to see us completely terrorized Watson with Micah, D-Law, Kendricks and Overshown all over the place. It felt like Kendricks added stability in the MIKE, while Overshown was flew around the field. Overshown looked great last pre-seasons, has slowly built some momentum this off-season but boy did he put it together in his first game.

On offense we had good field position most game and did our job. The run game was functional but I'm not too enthusiastic, I thought Zeke delivered on screens, short yardage, and in the Redzone. I feel confident he can consistently do this across the season. But it's pretty clear we don't have a lot of juice at the running back position. I didn't think much of Dowdle's showing but it's a good defense so maybe we can get a bit more than we saw. Dak, Ceedee, and Cooks all did enough, I liked Hunter Leupke's cameo but outside of him, the fringe/role playing skill players on offense were a bit disappointing.

For me though it was the offensive line that was most impressive. Facing guys like Miles Garrett, Z.Smith, Tomlinson, Jefferson and even the rotation guys at Cleveland is a notable challenge, and of course a bit of pressure from Garrett is to be expected no matter how good you are. But I didn't feel pressure on Dak wasn't too bad and he was able to punished some of the blitzing. Cooper Bebe and Tyler Guyton did really well.

Aubrey of course was fantastic, Anger solid, and can't argue with Turpin returning a punt for a TD. It was a compete special teams dominance.

....Mr Zimm has made the difference. I see lots of close games this year.

Of course, that we can win.
Defense balled out and played like a unit. No many missed assignments and the tackling was on point. Overshown & Carson appeared the best tacklers in the open field, Kendricks was a beast. Nice to have real linebackers.

Loved the confidence to put Carson on Coop. Sink or swim. Backend will be insane when Bland gets back, especially if the pressure keeps up. They are all ball hawks. Carson not getting a pick was the biggest letdown on D haha.

O line was great after the first few bumps. Only up there. RBs benefited for sure.

Special teams is top 3 in the league led by AA.

Dak has to be better than 59.4 completion % when the O line gives him all day or we will definitely be in for a bunch of close games, especially when they fall behind early. Hopefully he settles in once the hype of the deal is gone.

If it was obvious how bad Dak performed, I figured it shouldn't be hard to remember.
To anyone who watched the game it was obvious that nearly every pass in the 2nd half was either high and wide or low and away or worm burner short. Easy to see & remember when not driven by a narrative that requires splitting hairs rather than just admit your hero was below average, while being carried by the team you love to blame for losses, but never credit for wins like today, where they carry a below average QB performance.

Just ignore all that and everything everyone who watched has called out and look at his 20th ranked completion percentage of 59.4% even lower in half 2 when nearly every drive stalled out. #15 QBR: 85 .

Do the stats now lie or do they say below average day for Dak?

Lawrence had either 2 or 2 1/2 sacks and was his usual solid self against the run. I thought Kneeland played the run well and even got some pressures. Outside of what Parsons supplies, we needed someone else bringing the pressure. Zimmer did it some with blitzes.

Looked Good:
Al Harris. He has helped Lewis develop into a better player and had Carson ready
Brian Shottenheimer: Good gameplan for the most part. Nothing looked too predictable
Mike Zimmer: Good mix of pass rush and coverage calls. Had guys ready to play..

Look Bad:
John Fassel: Punt coverage needs a lot of work. Looked meh in preseason and no better today.
Mike McCarthy: Should have let Aubrey try from 71 (kidding...sort of)

Some of the best performances were by those that did not play last season for the Cowboys.

Whoever declared that the Cowboys did nothing to improve in the offseason failed to account for the players returning from injury like Overshown or veterans like Kendricks who was familiar with Zimmer's system.

They also failed to account for the high level of success the Cowboys have with mid-range draft picks like Bland, Ferguson, Cox and Wilson

How many big, multi-million-contract defensive veteran free agents got two sacks and an INT on Sunday?

And Caelon Carson? All I know is that the most successful WR for the Browns was Jerry Jeudy and his 25 yards. Cooper had 16 yards. Elijah Moore had 9 yards. Carson was covering somebody having a bad day.
