First Take: Should Deion Sanders be in Ring of Honor?

Debatable. Haley missed an entire season's worth of games, was lackluster against the run, and was (literally) a mental patient In the locker room. His contribution has become wildly overrated because of a few quotes by Jimmy. The Cowboys had an extremely talented defense and I never felt any of their titles hinged on an injury-prone pass rushing specialist. It just doesn't hold up to reality. Haley's brilliance was always in his amazing first 5 years in San Fran. We got the washed up version.
So even though I hated Deion before he came, loved him when he was with the team, and hated him again instantly after he left... looking at RoH history I would not object to his induction. He is one of the best players in NFL history, he was here long enough by the Jerry standard, and he helped win a Super Bowl. The end.
Yeah, Haley had 12 and 14 sacks in his two good years, seemed to always have back problems, and people think he was Reggie White back there, and spent most of his career with the Niners..and I think he's in there HOF or whatever they call it.
I appreciate his impact, but has no place in the ROH. Ware had 20 sacks one year, he should go in 5 minutes after he retires

Couldn't disagree more.
I'm going with Jimmy, you know, the coach in the locker room.
And with what I saw.

Washed up version. Cute. Untrue... but still cute.

I always find great humor when fans do the revisionist.... or is it creationist history and devalue a contributor.

For some reason the 90s teams and players are targeted.... a lot!

Jimmy - insert all the nonsense lines here _______, __________, ________ blah blah blah
Aikman - system
Emmitt - Oline
Irvin - overrated
It's fine. I'm not marching on The Star about it. I didn't think Haley should get in, nor do I think Deion should either. But I'm not mad either.
People see what they want to see. I have no idea what you saw. I only know for sure that I watched the games, this team had a strong D-line rotation, they were fine with him and they were fine without him. Heck in 1995, he missed the whole end of season and the playoffs and only played in the Super Bowl. So I'm pretty sure if they could get there without him, they could have also won without him too. But you can keep your memories of Super-Haley, I'll keep the real memories: still talented, but broken down guy who played a key but not essential role.

ROH players need to play less than most of there career with a hated rival.

If it wasn't for Deion the Cowboys wouldn't have won the the Super Bowl in 95. Kevin Smith got hurt and Deion was very much needed. We probably would've lost to Greenbay that year.

A. We don't know what would have happened.

B. I would gladly give back that 95 super bowl if it meant sanders never played here.

Having to root for this guy was the worst stretch of being a fan of anything in my life.

I don't think so. I will always associate the Sanders acquisition as the beginning of the end of a dynasty.

Ok. I will.
I'm the only one who saw what he did. It's ridiculous.

Had he played with us for more than five years, helped bring another title or two, ld say yes.

Other than Romo, Witten who will be in ROH going forward? Was thinking maybe Ware....

I wouldn't have been put out if Haley hadn't made it. But the one argument one can make for Haley is that he came before the Cowboys reached their ascent to Super Bowl champions, and he ended his career as a Cowboy and is still coaching with the Cowboys.

Deion - as has been stated - didn't end his career with the Cowboys and, in fact, went on to play with several teams. And Deion merely helped Switzer win a Super Bowl. He was a part of the core group that got the Cowboys back into the Super Bowl.

He is the greatest cornerback of all time, as far as I'm concerned. But I don't think he belongs in the Ring of Honor.

Haley actually went back to the 49ers

Probably the only ones from the last 20 years that will make it. Dez might make it one day but he still has a ways to go.

First it's Stephen A running his mouth.
Second he was a hired gun.
Haley at least was here for five great years.
