I don’t really think there is much interest on our part.

Wright and his agent likely are using Dallas to generate a slow market. Agent said I want a two year deal only. That’s as far as it went

Sorry to say that thought occurred to me right from the start when I found out what Wright was getting from Seattle. Our FO isn't likely to touch that kind of money. I doubt Todd France is likely to let KJ settle for what Jerry and Stephen are willing to pay. It could easily be an act to convince Seattle to cave in to what KJ wants from them. Something doesn't seem quite right about this whole affair.

And his agent is France.

Ahhh, no wonder this is stalled or has pretty much no legs. France is not negotiating but playing hardball, he has given Jerry and Junior a take it or leave it offer with KJ and of course the Cowboys are not willing to give in to the ransom, i mean offer. There are still hard feelings between these two. Thus no offer from the Cowboys. So again, either Jerry bends over or its goodbye Felicia.

Now this kills any signing unless Amari reworked his deal for cap room for Wright. Definitely would like him in Dallas.

Fish says there’s mutual interest and they’ve been in communication. Who knows to what degree but it’s not like they aren’t acknowledging it.

He also said that Dan Quinn and Joe Whitt were not fans of Xavier Woods, I know some of you would like to know that.

To be fair, if our target is Parsons in the draft, they should not sign Wright.

I don’t think that should stop them. Sure, they would be overloaded this year and Parsons likely wouldn’t play at all. But in the long term, there are plenty of questions at linebacker.

Wright would be a short timer. One to two years.

The team can get out of Smith’s contract and cut him next year.

They soon have to make a decision on Vander Esch and his health.

A year or two from now and all three may be gone.

I dont remember the last time our first round pick didnt play right out of the gate. Honestly after watching the pro days. I think Browning ends up being the best LB in the draft. If we can get him in the 3rd and let him develop we have a winner on our hands. (player not team)

If I signed Wright, there is no way I draft Parsons. That is just bad management of draft capital. You can't sit pick #10 on the bench for a year or 2.

Now, if I can improve my team by signing Wright and drafting Surtain, then that would be the thing to do. You can improve your team by signing an aging LB easier than you can by signing an aging CB. I think the physical skills you lose by 30 are much more limiting for a CB than for a LB.

I think there are only 2 positions in the draft at 10 that help our team immediately, LB and CB. If it were me, I sign Wright and draft CB.

I had them taking Pete Werner in my most recent mock draft.

10: R1 P10 CB Caleb Farley - Virginia Tech
44: R2 P12 DL Tyler Shelvin - LSU
75: R3 P11 S Jevon Holland - Oregon
99: R3 P35 LB Jabril Cox - LSU
115: R4 P10 LB Pete Werner - Ohio State
138: R4 P33 C Quinn Meinerz - Wisconsin-Whitewater
179: R5 P35 DL Bobby Brown III - Texas A&M
192: R6 P8 CB DJ Daniel - Georgia
227: R6 P43 S Chris Brown - Texas
238: R7 P10 S Jaquan Brisker - Penn State

Oh yeah, I’m taking Surtain if he’s there at #10 regardless.

It is like this every year in free agency, former star players want the money based on past performances and teams want to low ball to save money. IF, a big if, Dallas is really talking with KJ Wright and supposedly Richard Sherman, it is probably talk for talk sake. Doubt if Dallas is going to pay anywhere near what they want and certainly at most a 2 year deal (with 2 voidable years added to spread the bonus money out) so if they do sign one or both it would be a shocker to me, nice shocker but shocker.

Now, could we use them, certainly. It would cover up some holes (or perceived by we fans as holes) in the defense. The other item on those two and any other free agents is that most teams are getting to the point where they will wait until after the draft to sign any other veterans to cover what they didn't cover in the draft. The other point we should not forget is that all these guys we are signing are one year deals meaning if we don't find a suitable replacement in the draft, we are going to go through the same thing next year. Not a pretty sight at all.
