Fish: Cowboys are thinking about hiring Kellen Moore

Since he has never been a head coach, at any level, what indication is there that he’d be any team’s “yes man”? He was not retained by the Dallas Cowboys despite being the OC of an offense that performed comparatively well. How bitter about that might he be? All NFL head coach contracts are guaranteed. If he were to be offered the head coaching job of the Dallas Cowboys he’d certainly demand what other first time head coaches are being offered. If Jones agreed to the compensation and Moore agreed to take the job he could be the opposite of a “yes man” knowing full well Jones would not terminate him and pay him not to coach the Cowboys.

Moores’ knowledge of how the Cowboys operate makes him too risky for the cowardly Jerry Jones and his less than capable son.
Any coach that comes in here will be a yes man.

Another learning curve coach where Jerry and his kid are making all the calls on and off the field.. how exciting. I think Kellen Moore would be a complete fool to take that job when there will be plenty of other opportunities where he wouldn’t have to deal with the Ringling Brothers.

Yep. Said so couple of months ago. Kellen did project that I've when we played Philly..

Remember, it was Kellen's choice to leave.
He:ll have a choice.

Same as Big Mac.

They both know there ain't no money in being here

No. Leave that down syndrome coach alone. Hire someone with coaching experience.
Every time I think this forum couldn’t go lower, one of y’all just makes the post equivalent of a liquid fart.

by what degree is he qualified????

He has been an offensive coordinator for 6 years now and has had a number one offense in scoring a couple times and top 5 every season his starting QB didn’t go down with injury.

Plenty of coaches have gotten starting gigs with resumes like that.

He has already gotten a couple interviews with other teams for HC jobs.

Like I also said. We won’t know if he can actually succeed at the job until he gets his chance. But the trajectory of his career shows he is likely going to get a shot with somebody at some point.

He’s definitely qualified. A lot of coaches been hired with less. I just can’t imagine having to deal with Jerry and his kid as the ideal spot for any quality young coach.

Fair question as to how Kellen feels about that.

This is pretty much it

All of the real fans know it’s going to be a Kellen Moore, Mike Zimmer, Mike McCarthy type hire.
Yeah one of these three will be the head coach and the misery will continue for the next several years.

He should have plenty of opportunities including possibly the Eagles gig where Sirianni is on thin ice. And probably about 5 other vacancies that might be available in the next few weeks.

You saw what he did with Saquon Barkley. Imagine what he could do with Rico Dowdle.

Jerry just can't admit his mistakes and now he thinks Kellen Moore is going to be Sean Payton

On the Moore topic I’m hearing Brown & Hurts are at each others throats over the passing game despite a 11-2 record . Wouldn’t Siriani & Moore get these two together and hash things out . I mean if your Star WR and the QB aren’t getting along is that a red flag .

I would have to think that Moore is smart enough NOT to come to Dallas.

Yes, he's looking like a wiz kid of sorts now, but look at the players he has now.

Had did the eagles put that team together? By having a real GM that is held accountable to his job along with proving that he can do the job.

Moore comes to Dallas, and who is putting his team together? Moore can't be that dumb just to have a title of head coach unless he just wants to ride a little more money by being a yes man to keep him in the fold...

I was looking at all of Jerry's head coaching hires and found an interesting pattern. I may do a thread but for now .........

Other than Jimmy ..........each of his head coaches hired had to split or share one of coordinator positions with him. For example

**Parcell hired his own OC but Jerry talked him into retaining Zimm as his DC
**Wade Phillips hired his own defensive coor ( himself ) but had to hire Jason Garret as his OC
**Jason chose his own defensive coordinator ( Rob Ryan initially) but was forced to hire Montel Kiffin and Rob Martinelli a year later. Jason was also forced to hire Bill Callahan as his OC.
** Mike McCarthy chose his own DC but was forced to keep Kellen Moore as this OC.

This point here is based on Jerry's coaching history/pattern it's very unlikely both Zimm AND MM will be fired. He seems to always keep a coordinator on either side of the ball for continuity. In other words, Jerry has never cleaned house with a new head coach, or new offensive and defensive coordinators from the outside.

Here's a history of Cowboys coaches over the years

https://pro-football-history.com/franchise/20/dallas-cowboys-coaches

- Jerry actually hired Jason Garrett as OC, before he even hired Wade as new HC .

- Wade actually had his own DC in the name of Brian Stewart, .. but Jerry infuriated with the defense, insisted on Wade the HC, himself taking over as DC..
