It wouldn't shock me to see us approach the secondary (and Jaylon) the way the Patriots approach defense every season. Let the young guys/new parts play right away to allow for growth and real evaluations in hopes that we can be a better defense later in the season.

Which usually leads to some ugliness early. But we should see flashes, too. Hopefully the offense can carry the burden the first half of the season.

Would surprise me if either would play more than special teams. Scandrick, Carroll and Brown are our top three and Awusie would be next in.

I would have thought Benwikere would have been the 4th cornerback, just based on experience alone. Otherwise, I see very little reason for the trade for him at all. My thinking was that it was made strictly because Awuzie, and much more so Lewis, weren't ready to get on the field.

If not, I'm asking why the guy is here at all?

To get a closer look at him. If he doesn't play, he doesn't end up costing anything. If he does play, he must be showing something better than we have, which would be worth the price we paid.

I hope he can play about 2-3 weeks while the rookies get their feet under them, then suspend him for the remainder of the season.

I know you've got some company on that train!

Do you know what the terms are on the trade for him? I don't remember.

Awesome. Jaylon must really be ready because they don't have to rush him.
That was my thought, too. I have been concerned over how "ready" Jaylon is to not only play, but to play well. I have to believe the coaches would not put him in that position were they not confident in his abilities. Go Jaylon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I fully expect our cornerbacks to be worked over. The rookies got next to no meaningful reps in preseason/practice and no familiarity with proven NFL talent ala OBJ and Marshall.
Corner is my big concern, as well. It could get ugly. On the other hand, they may surprise us and ball out! Got my fingers crossed...

IM looking forward to seeing Jaylon Smith take over the "Shark" Role from Durant when they play it.

I wonder what would have happened had a guy like smith been playing that spot last year on that final Green Bay drive.

Are you expecting the rookies to be lined up against those players a lot?
I'll weigh in on this and say that I don't expect to see them "a lot", but I do expect they'll be rotated in on several occasions. It'll be on those occasions that I get a little worried. I live in the "Show me" state, so I need to see some evidence that they are up to the task before I start putting a lot of faith in their abilities. :)

Sweet! Lewis is rusty as hell and gets to face the giant juggernaut receivers! Trial by fire!

Ballers gon' ball! He will pick off Eli! Book it
I doubt he sees the field often enough to pick off Eli in this first game, but by the second meeting Lewis should be up to speed.

the cowboys have taken such a cautious route with Jaylon that this really is not that big of a deal. They were being very conservative and thus were probably not all that worried about having him do more with Hitchen's injury.
