We released Crayton after the 2009 season, before Beasley, who came along with big time slot potential?

And you guys make it sound so easy. "We can just find another slot receiver late in the draft!", that's exactly what people are saying about Murray. "We can find another stud RB in the third round!".

If only it were that easy.

I think finding guys in the draft like Beasley is a lot easier than finding guys like Murray. Murray was a 3rd rounder and took time to develop. Beasley wasn't drafted at all, and I think there are lots of small quick guys every year who aren't drafted because most teams don't draft their slot guys.

Like I said, good player, and I can only assume that he got that contract because Linehan plans to expand his role, especially if we lose our workhorse at RB.

So let me gets this right. Romo got his money when it was time. Witten got his money when it was time. Sean Lee got his money before it was time. T. Smith got his money before it was time. now Beasley get's great deal for a guy who is an off the bench role player. but Demarco and Dez, no deal.. this is not good folks.why have we now chosen to not pay our best players with long term deals?

What Beasley does is make teams pay for doubling Dez or Witten or playing eight in the box too much.

Beasley's presence makes teams back off and play soft zones, especially in combination with Witten.

If Williams, who had some great moments and some quiet stretches, comes on as a legit No. 2 receiver, this offense will truly hum.

Then, imagine Adrian Peterson in the backfield........

Wow.

Dez is controlled, and Murray is just a good back who had a great season.

Dez is controlled? that is not my point. why are we not locking up 2 of our best players long term? that's just dumb in my opinion. an unhappy Dez could turn into Vernon Davis or Jimmy Graham this year. i do not want that to happen. but the man hasfeelings, and will try and keep from getting hurt next year with only a one year deal.

Really? You don't see the difference? Dez and Murray are speculated to ask for big contracts, Beasley is not. Murray is at least wanting around what McCoy got, there is no way Murray's agent is going in asking for anything less and he's not stupid enough to ask for AP money either. Dez is wanting something near what Calvin Johnson gets.

There is no comparison. We have Dez where we need him to be, his contract is coming. Murray can go get overpaid elsewhere.

It's his fault, not the Cowboys.

Yesterday it is was reported that he met his agent for the first time in person a few days ago. And Roc-nation is completely unreasonable.

Dallas does not need to overpay Dez just because his agents are being idiots.

And yet, most teams don't have a slot player with Beasley's potential. It's not as easy as you're making it sound.

Romo, Witten, Lee, and Smith were reasonable with either the amount or how it was structured so it got done easily. Dez and Murray want more than is reasonable for the welfare of the team, thus, it is difficult to get done. Franchising Dez is a no brainer and so is letting Murray walk if he can get more than $6 million per year. He had a great year but he can be replaced due to the oline. He only played through injury because it was a contract year and he had a chance to break a record. Anyone who thinks he will ever do that again is fooling themselves. He sat out everytime he was even dinged a little during his first three years. That is who the team that signs him will get and his production will be closer to half what it was last year, especially if he goes to a team with an average oline. Murray is one player I don't think we will ever regret letting walk. He has free agent disaster written all over him.

So now teams are just supposed to give players everything they want to keep from hurting their feelings?

Bid against ourselves.

Beasley is more valuable to us than he is to any other team. There was no reason to guarantee 7m.

I don't mind the overall deal, but guaranteeing 7m for Beasley is ludicrous. He only plays like 30% of the snaps.

They could have given him the lowest tender for 1.5m and no one would have jumped. You don't need to buy guys like Beasley out of FA.

He is a good little player, but this deal is overkill.

It's hard not to cheer for Cole Beasley. The guy was ready to call it quits. He's put in the hard work and had Earned his spot and now has Earned a decent payday.

OK fine. but don't come on here next year crying about how this does not look like the same Dez. or if the running game takes a down turn.Dez is human. he is going to try and keep from getting hurt. Demarco may be the best all-around back in the NFL. right now. you don't lose that kind of production, and replace it that easy.
